I've been teaching with Cambly (adults only for now, waiting on cambly kids approval) and so far I really enjoy it! It's so simple and easy to use. Every one of my students has been so nice and I feel like I'm really helping them :) I also like how Cambly doesn't require any kind of teaching certificate/degree /background like a lot of the other sites do. The classes fly by! & I always leave with a smile. This video is super helpful for anyone wanting to get started!

I am new and going to start soon. I watched the videos but I am confused when it says you must answer incoming calls. What if I am in teh middle of teaching/speaking with a student and a new call comes in?

Hi Nicole! When you go visible, that means that you are going live essentially and therefore you will begin to receive calls. However, when you are speaking with someone who has already made a reservation (booked a class) with you, you are only visible to them and will not be interrupted by any other calls. ☺️

Hi! I really needed to watch this! I started on Cambly yesterday and opened up Priority hours...I had 11 calls in 5 hours! Unfortunately the WIFI was unstable so I switched to cellular data and that was unstable too! I lost a few students due to this and also Cambly blocked my priority hours for 3 days. Can you suggest the best way to get a strong stable internet connection and aslo what kind of lighting to use since I had to stop at 5pm when it got dark. I am in Thailand btw. Hi Robert! I would suggest getting an Ethernet cord to plug your computer directly into your router for a stronger connection. I use a cheap ring light from Amazon and the light in my closet seems to give good lighting.

Hi! In my personal experience, once I opened my schedule, I got students right away. Parents choose who they want their kids to have classes with so the students are not allocated to you. Having a strong profile video will help you attract students!

Hi Ashley! Once you are approved to tutor you can edit your payment method in your profile. You would just put in your email associated with your PayPal account

I'm just wondering, how do you know the level of the student and also what they are going to require during the lesson? Is that something we ask them or will it be obvious before the lesson starts? I have the same questions and thoughts as you. I'm getting ready to sign up. I took a course in ESL. It only taught me what I should cover in what I teach, but it didn't tell me how to develop lessons. I eventually created some on my own. Anyway, I am very nervous to start because I don't know the level of the student. I heard that some students just want to improve their conversation skills. I would love to help them do that. @@niicolereneeb9034 Hi there, I have actually been tutoring on cambly now for a few months. There is nothing to be nervous about, like you said most of the students there just want to chat to improve their skills and practice speaking English. Just familiarise yourself with the lesson plans because some do want to go through them but it's very simple you just have to correct them when they are wrong and explain the meaning of words or phrases to them. You get to speak to all sorts of people from all over the world and my experience has been really good so far.

Hi DeAnne! Totally understandable! You have total control over your schedule. If you want to open times 5 days a week, only 1 day a week or don’t schedule for a few weeks in between, it’s totally fine. Students will only be able to book what you open ☺️

Hi Henry! Cambly pays weekly via PayPal. Cambly adults pays .17/min which equates to $10.20/hr. Cambly Kids pays .20/min which equates to $12/hr. You only get paid for the minutes you are talking with a student.

You're only paid for the time you actually talk with students. For example, if you speak for only 30 minutes in one hour, you will get paid $5.10 (before taxes) for that hour.

Hi Gillian! I applied in December and it took about a month before I heard back. The timeframe seems to be different for everyone. Cambly is in need of tutors right now so if you apply now, you may hear back sooner than I did.

Hi Shalaka! If you are a Native speaker with a neutral accent, then yes. Cambly requires you to record a profile video so ultimately they will decide based on that. Cambly does hire worldwide ☺️

Kids do call in on PH for adults. Some are rude, some say nothing, some say yes and no. No point going visible as you can get nothing but on PH you do get $2.5 an hour...plus any minutes talking to people at 17c a minute............can't buy a house with this but a few hours is ok if ya bored. Keep away from kids terrible way to live.

@@teachingwithkia1226 Hi Kia, I think that "gotten" has really increased recently in popular use. get, got, got is "correct" British English, however "gotten" was widely used in England historically and is now the predominant form in the USA. English is a living language and there is no danger of being misunderstood using gotten as the past participle. Carry on and keep smiling!
