Cambodia is OPEN FOR TOURISM - Covid Restriction Update

New announcement landed just after I finished this video. Starting November 30th, tourists will not have to quarantine if they are fully vaccinated, test negative upon arrival, and they stay in one of the designated hotels in Preah Sihanouk province (most likely Sihanoukville or Koh Rong Island) for 5 days. You'll need to pre-book this hotel, and you'll need to have a flight booked out of Cambodia. Not all the details are out on this. It seems that the hotels will be high end resort type hotels. They have also said that this travel bubble will extend to Siem Reap in January.

Yeah nobody is going to come unless it's a retirement person or a Chinese construction worker. The typical tourist has 7-14 days of vacation, they're not going to stay in a quarantinee hotel for 7 days when they're FULLY vaccinated. Plus too much added fees staying in a quarantinee hotel and PCR tests, mandatory insurance etc. Tourism will only return when there is NO restriction like pre-COVID.

I arrived in Cambodia on Dec. 7 from the USA-NO return flight ticket needed, NO quarantine, you do have to pass covid test before you leave the airport. There is no cost for this test and you receive no documentation as they are too busy for that. You can travel freely around the country.

You may want to wait a few months. They are working feverishly to repair the roads in Siem Reap. (Sewer work. Connecting roads to sidewalks, dust in your face, garbage and putrid water everywhere, etc.) I'd expect everything to be finished by March. When it's finished, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

You might be in luck. They're talking about doing a travel bubble there that would just require you to stay in the city for 5 days at a designated quarantine hotel. After that, you could go anywhere in the country.

I had to leave Vietnam after 2 years. Looking to go back. I was unable to do travel to Laos, Cambodia etc., as we all know the borders closed. I loved that I decided to stay and weather the storm in Vietnam. Back in Canada now and decided I want long term in SEA. Vietnam is slower than the surrounding countries to re-open. how long can I stay in Loas as an expat? i dont have a need to work. I am of a certain vintage. Ideally, I'd like at least 6 months. Who knows, maybe I'd prefer Laos. Regardless, seeing the light at the end of the tunnel is a dream come true. For all of us! Great vlog! New subscriber.

No. Not anymore. They changed the rules. No quarantine if you're vaccinated. Just need a negative test 72 hours before departure. And to pass a rapid test when you arrive.

You'd still have to quarantine. If you go to Sihanoukville or Siem Reap and stay in the city for 5 days, that can count for your quarantine now though. You'd have to stay in a designated hotel, but you'd be allowed to leave it and go out. Look it up. It might be your best option.

On my way to Thailand November 2nd, just after Thailand announced no quarantine, less cost for insurance and only 1 PCR test. I am in SE Asia until January 20th, 2022 hoping so countries like Cambodia , Indonesia and Vietnam open. These new rules to open are not enough for me to come there yet. I guess baby steps.

Yes. Even with a negative test. But they are now saying that they will be allowing people to skip the quarantine if they stay in a designated hotel in Sihanoukville or Koh Rong. A kind of travel bubble. You can freely roam about the province, but you must stay in the hotel for 5 days. After that, you should be able to travel anywhere in the country. All the details haven't been released yet though.

I lived in Cambodia for 5 1/2 years, and left a few months ago for Ecuador. I didn't want a vaccine and, in some places, that has become a serious problem. If you're not vaccinated, you might have trouble getting into lots of places in Cambodia. That's why I left. Also, if you test positive while there, you could be shuffled into quarantine or taken to a medical facility. It is now officially illegal to refuse treatment for Covid. I used to live in fear of testing positive and getting stuck on a respirator. Siem Reap is still a serious mess, due to road construction. I'd wait another 6 months to travel there if I were just about anyone.

It varies. Could be put in a covid camp, which is horrible. But they recently have changed the law saying you can quarantine at home under certain circumstances. The details are suppose to be out today.

I leave for Thailand tomorrow after one stressful saga after another with this damn Thailand pass. I also need an onward ticket so I need to buy that tonight before arriving in Thailand. Just do it on their website. It's pretty straight forward. No refunds, but if you need to adjust the dates after you've booked it they will let you.
