Cambodia is far from perfect, but there is a lot of good here. If money is your goal, it's probably not the best, but if you want a nice lifestyle, it's pretty damn good.

I love Cambodia 🇰🇭 I can see from a teaching perspective why Vietnam is better. Bigger market better pay, but I think Cambodia has a charm that'd hard to explain. Takes some time to see it, but it's a really good place.

It is kinda ridiculous when these guys come to a country and make the money from this country but do not want to abide by its laws. Every country is different and you need to learn to adapt it. Have you guys ever imagined how hard it is for a South East national to travel to the US. Should the US government let them stay and work without any documents or paperwork ?

He has a master's degree and all bis documents, so I have no clue what you're talking about, lol. Also, it's kind of funny that you're oblivious to literally the entire world, including Southeast Asian nationals breaking our immigration laws at the moment. I don't even teach. Total clown. You don't think Vietnamese enter Western countries illegally? Hahaha 😆 😂 😆 😂 😂 that's funny. The part that's so funny is that he has a work permit and works for a major company, so spare me your lazy opinions. Clearly, I didn't watch the video, but I still think we should care about your opinion, haha ....gump....brush yo teeth 😬 🪥

@@rebornabroad Why do you have to approach this argument with such hostility. I believed this is an open friendly debate. Nobody said about illegal immigrants, what i said is when people come to any country then they need to abide by the laws of that country whether they like it or not. You come to America, you obey American laws, the same applies to expats coming to Vietnam. Regarding to the teaching English environment here in Vietnam, i am sure many local teachers in here can teach as good, if not even, better than native English teachers. However, they even can't get half of the pay that you guys do. You must know the reason why, the preference for a foreign look than the local one. I think you gotta accept this fact, not because of your degree or your English.

@@namvinhtran4034you are right, as a student in Vietnam, I don’t think we should be paying so much money for foreign teachers that aren’t doing their job well. Like you said, many Vietnamese teachers can also do the job much better. There are even cases of foreign teachers swearing at little kids some years ago. That’s why I agree with what the government is doing in cracking down on this industry. However, their process probably still need improvement tho.

After spending a good few months teaching in Cambodia. I think that Vietnam sounds like a better place to teach English. But Cambodia is better if you want a laidback expat lifestyle. But If you want to teach English In Cambodia, you need to get to enjoy doing lesson plans, as you have to submit weekly lesson plans by Friday. That’s on top of setting homework for the students and working from 7am - 5 pm. No guarantee you’ll be allowed to take holidays as well or vacation. As the schools will say that you need to be there for the students. You’ll also get last minute tasks in the evening to do like reports and newsletters and you’ll be expected to do them, on the same night. Parent and teacher conferences you’re expected to attend, as well as writing monthly reports for the students. Some schools even expect you to teach evening classes and work on some weekends. So you don’t get much down time outside of work you need to bare that in mind. But as he said it’s easy to get a visa and work permit and you have the freedom of movement. So if you don’t like the school, you can just leave but make sure you leave after payday so you don’t get cheated of your money. Also you can be fired for no reason as you’re very replaceable here due to no requirement to have a bachelors degree. So they may find someone who they can pay less, so that they save money. The schools here are a business and the students are the customers. So don’t have this mindset that you’re the light in shining armour. As you’re the foreigner who’s going to change the system will all your fantastic ideas as it does not work like that here. You have to follow what they want you to do. And the students are very pleasant, but also very, very, very noisy and often big classes as well. So it’s not an easy ride by any means, as there is big competition here. And the communication with Khmer people is zero, as they don’t communicate what they want you to do. However if you have a degree and teaching experience and even a teaching qualification. you’ll probably get a better gig like quieter classes and a lighter workload. This is things I wish that I’d have known before coming to Cambodia. So please bear that in mind but however it’s a great country and I love living here and the low cost of living.

It's the same in Vietnam. Your value is that you are just hiring if you are a native speaker. Vietnamese are willing to pay more for natives and treat them better. Even in Cambodia, the native speakers I knew had low responsibility jobs. I am not sure if you are native or not because that will make a big difference in how Vietnam or even to some extent Cambodia will treat you and what they can get away with.

@@rebornabroad Thankyou I appreciate your comment sir. This is just my experience so far, it’s a high and stressful workload, in Cambodia, with very little pay compared to Vietnam. As you only have to use the family and friends book for the students and go through a few words and if they don’t want to learn, the TA’s don’t care. So that sounds way less stressful and if you don’t have to do lesson plans, reports and set homework as well as having have the evenings and weekends to yourself that’s a bonus. So you could enjoy Vietnam in your free time and I can always adapt to any country. Oh and I am a native English speaker from the U.K. I hope to work with you wants, I’ve finished my bachelors degree. Then I want to move and work in Vietnam thanks.

@regmohammad9426 cool if you are from the UK you can get a job no degree now. It just depends if the employer is willing to invest the time and money to get it. Some are. The ones I work with are able to get native speakers even without documentation work permits. For now. Future who knows but for sure getting a degree in anything will be better and less expensive. None the less you definitely can get work even now. The environment will be the same. No one cares, but hey, money is much more, and the overall cost of living is lower. Vietnamese government will make you miss Cambodia though lol

I got fired from a private school in Phnom Penh for complaining about an older Cambodian man who would piss on the toilet seat. I asked him not to do that as I didn't want to clean his piss. He said if I didn't like it, then I could tell the school director. I took his picture and talked to the school director. They fired me. After I left, another foreign teacher jumped off the top of the building. Great place.
