I would like you to reflect on Cambodia, which claims to be the origin of culture and accuses Thailand of being cultural thieves and the land of robbers. However, they cannot create or adapt anything new from this culture, unlike Thailand, where we can constantly create and modify works that align with our culture. Additionally, Cambodia lacks evidence or an explanation for the origins of clothing, textiles, jewelry, musical instruments, or anything else, except for references to images on temple walls since 800 year ago that can be interpreted based on imagination. In contrast, Thailand has written records, including photographs and videos, both domestically and internationally. Foreigners often view Cambodia as a pitiable third-world country due to its historical genocide, but present-day Cambodians are no longer sympathetic. They oppress Thai culture and seek to claim it as their own for reputation and global standing, including deriving income from Thai cultural elements. Thailand, having successfully developed and earned a reputation from these cultural aspects, finds it easier and faster than Cambodia to accuse and claim ownership rather than create anew, proving itself on the global stage. Present-day Cambodia is no longer a pitiable nation; they act maliciously, desiring possessions of others rather than their own. They spread numerous false information and consistently disparage Thailand without considering that, once upon a time, Thailand assisted many Cambodians fleeing genocide, even when our country was not affluent. We helped out of human decency, not seeking their gratitude. However, their current actions make it difficult for the Thai people to accept. If you appreciate Thai clothing and culture, we welcome it, but you should give credit where it's due. Claiming ownership and accusing us of theft causes great sadness and dissatisfaction among the Thai people. It's essential to consider who the real thieves are.

Cambodia received its culture from Thailand because Cambodia was a colony of Thailand for more than 400 years. Angkor Wat also belongs to Thailand because it has the word Siam carved into it, the Khmer ruler.
There are a few questions to prove the truth: "Thai boxing, traditional Thai clothing, Thai food, Thai dance, Songkran, and Loy Krathong" belong to Thailand or to Cambodians. 1)Do Cambodians have reliable photos or video clips? Is it old enough? 2)Have the elderly ever seen those things in Cambodia? For example, Khun Khmer, Loi Krathong, and Songkran. 3)Do Cambodians know how to produce Thai clothing? Do you know how to cook Thai food? Of course, Cambodians cannot answer the question.

To add some interesting facts. We are Thai people today. (or former Siamese) ruled that region (ancestors of the Cambodian people) for over 400 years until the French took away the Cambodians from us. The Siamese were more civilized than the Cambodians as rulers. No ruler in the world would adopt the culture of the loser or Colonial country.Look at the English and French. They conquered almost half of the world in the past. But they never embraced the culture of their colonized countries. In fact, they forced their colonial countries to implement their culture. Culture often moves from country to country. A country (or region) that is considered more civilized goes to a less civilized country.

If you just look for information going back 50 years, how did Khmer people dress? What cultures are there? But don't search on Wikipedia. Because Khmer people go in and edit information all the time. to claim various rights as their own
it's longer than 50 years. back then it was called Kampuchea, not Cambodia. People now don't know history? they didn't know that Thailand stole our land and tried to take the Temple Anchor. They even use our numbers. If you ask your parents about who you dislike, all would say Thai. They always mention about stealing land and claiming it's there. If they search up Khmer Rouge, all the information is not there. This old 70 years old Hmong man said to me, history is not history. Wiki always change information, you are so right.

Kmer, now Cambodia, was under Siam (former Thailand) for 400 years. They have received Thai culture during the time. Angkor Wat was conformed by Khom, an ancestor (including Mon and Tai and Lao) of Siamese, from the central part of Thailand now since 10th century while that time, as a script in 10th century said, Kmer was only SLAVE. A Kmer called Taeng Wan (Sweet Melon in meaning) was the leader of slaves could rebel against Khom ruler (King Jayavarman IX) in 15th century. The rebel destroyed many many Siamese in Angkor and called this land SIAM REAP (destroyed Siam in meaning) until now. Siamese and Khom came back to home land to join Ayutthaya and striked back Kmer rebel in 17 years later. Since then Siam (now Thai) had ruled Kmer (now Cambodia) until 21st century when French Indo-China colony occurred.

Khom (Thai: ขอม, pronounced [kʰɔ̌ːm]) is a Tai-language term referring to the people and civilization of the ancient Khmer Empire. Its use is recorded as early as the 13th century, though its exact meaning-whether it refers to a specific empire, a certain historical period, or the Khmer people in general-has been unclear throughout history.[1] The term has been used extensively in 20th-century Thai history writing, partly as a way to disassociate the historical Angkorian civilization-of which many archaeological sites are spread throughout present-day Thailand-from the present-day Khmer people who form the majority population of Cambodia, whom many Thais still believe to be an inferior race unrelated to the people of the ancient empire. This discourse was popularized by 20th century Thai nationalist thinker Luang Wichitwathakan who asserted that contemporary Khmers are unrelated to the ethnic group responsible for the Angkorian civilization, coining the term "khom" for this purpose. By repurposing the term "khom" derived from the ancient Thai term "Khmer krom" meaning "lowland Khmer", Wichitwathakan attempted to create a new ethnicity to accentuate a distinct separation between Angkor and Cambodia, despite the ethnic continuity between Angkor's builders and present-day Khmer being well-established.[2][3] This is a commonly leveraged theme for anti-Khmer sentiment and historical negationism in Thai nationalist discourse.[4]

The only reason why Cambodian is claiming Thai culture is all down to economics of cash with the Chinese as the biggest mastermind behind the curtain. We tourist who travelled to Asia and Southeast Asia for more than 35 years started to noticed this pad Thai Cambodia style more and more over the year particularly since the Chinese took over Cambodia economically. Lao is also the same along with Myanmar without exception of having been under the Chinese financial control through economic system. Top tourist destination such as Thailand happened to be right next door with highest Chinese visitors. The money is going out of china so fast. For this reason they need to bring it back to china somehow. What’s a better way than building your own tourism industry empire in another countries where the Chinese themselves is the owner of most things in Cambodia through infrastructure and investment, then where else could the money flow. Now the infrastructure is ready the only thing that the Chinese have to do is instigating the popularity in the heritage culture of Thailand into the newly built up Cambodia in a shorter process by simply claiming shamelessly. Inevitably, we all knew it is hard to denied that country of the same region will have crossed path in similar tangible cultural and traditional since the start up which ran deep from the past history timelines. Most of all, a poor corrupt communism country like Cambodia can easily be put under controlled with some leftover cash from china that has been injected smoothly than if it were to be from a democratic country. Particularly imagined how Cambodia have been a third world country from killing each other off for a long time - and for a long time too - this country had never really been independent for over 700 to 800 years. We are talking about the time since the fall of the famous Angkor wat period that was led by Hinduism right through to the Siamese or Thailand controlled period = ruling over Cambodia for nearly 500 years. Afterwards the treaty of handing Cambodia and Lao indoctrinated as part of indochina that belonged to the French at the end of colonization era. Then comes a break moment of peace for Cambodia after the released as a free country where the freedom didn’t last long as pol pot Khmer Rouge regime started killing their own people off again and soon by this time the Vietnamese took over politically again because Cambodia went begging for help. Up until the last 40 years more or less the freedom in Cambodia settled and seemed to be more stabilized. The Chinese see this and seek the opportunity, however, it is a little too late to make Cambodia catch up with theirs neighboring countries like Thailand, Malay, Philippines, etc never mind the rest of the already developed world. Although, Chinese is big in mass production but any economic gain from soft power is still producing the output out of a negative vibes value. As we all would agreed that the world’s trend in supporting democracy is much more popular and for this reason tourism in Thailand appeals to holiday makers and visitors. We think Thailand knew this and often turn a blind eyes on Cambodia and china sneaky short cut cunning ways in tourism industry. Thailand wanted to help in getting food on the table for the real in hardships Cambodian people. Otherwise, it would have meant that Thailand will have had to once again carried a lot more problems of their next door neighboring countries. A repeat situation during the flood in of Cambodian refugees from inhumane red Khmer Rouge’s regime is a good example. Currently as it stands Thailand have to carryover so much weight from Myanmar conflict. Such as this scenario has been Thailand problem for a long time. Presently, illegal Cambodia immigrants as well as non skilled workers from surrounding border countries are flooding in to Thailand. Entering statistics shows high numbers of Cambodia, Myanmar and Lao seeking work all over Thailand right now. Even tourist like us can see how the services sector in Thailand is ritually full of foreigners working from hotel restaurants house keepers and labor workers in buildings industry and so on. An indication signs that 😢😢😢😢😢 is sadly growing in numbers. Today this claiming of Thai culture is getting out of hand because neighboring countries surrounding Thailand need capital gains from low investment tourism industry too. The worst thing is that those money that Cambodian made is no longer used for feeding the Cambodian poor people, but it’s going to Chinese pocket. In fact, world help aids funding is still being claimed from countries such as Lao and Cambodia. Therefore, all forms of Thai soft powers calming activities should also be stop and fire back to neighboring country like Cambodia. This way Cambodia will at least acknowledged that what they are doing is wrong. Claiming other countries culture is bad enough, put the money made from tourism on the plate to china instead of their own people is daylight robbery, and leaving their starving Cambodia citizens to the rest of the world from world help aided organizations is just inhumane.

As a Thai, this is kinda annoying. In former times, we were influenced by India, China and western countries, our dress had been adjusted from time to time until it became what we own right now. I’m so sick of seeing a shameless country trying to just copy paste our culture . Bet they know nothing at all about the culture route. They buy clothes from Thailand, learn how to dress from Thai media or Thai books and then they say “this is our traditional dress”.🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♂️

David K. Wyatt, a historian of Thailand, argued that their ancestors who at present inhabit Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, India, and China came from the Điện Biên Phủ area between the 5th and the 8th century.[34]: 6 Thai people began migrating into present-day Thailand gradually from the 6th to 11th century, which Mon and Khmer people occupied at the time.[35] Thus Thai culture was influenced by Indian, Mon, and Khmer cultures.[36]: 203 However, according to the genetic researches, the present-day Thai people were divided into three groups; the northern group (Khon Mueang) are closely related to the Tai ethnic groups in southern China, the northeastern group (Isan people) are mixed Tai and several Austroasiatic-speaking ethnic groups, while the central and southern groups (formerly called Siamese) strongly share genetic profiles with the Mon people.[37] Thus, the origin of the Thai people is more complicated than would be predicted from ethnolinguistics;[38][39] even the so-called Thai-Khmer people in lower northeastern region that shares borders with Cambodia are genetically distinct from an ethnolinguistically related group, the Cambodian Khmer

The unfortunate hostility towards the Khmer people is a matter of concern. The ancestors of the Thai people migrated from China and settled in what is now known as Thailand, a region that was originally inhabited by the Khmer. The Khmer, recognized by their darker skin, have historical ties to the Pallava dynasty of South India and the ancient Khmer kingdom. Their culture was profoundly shaped by Hinduism and Buddhism. The royal union between the two kingdoms represented the cultural harmony. It's crucial to understand that a significant portion of the art and culture often credited to Indian influence was actually disseminated through the Khmer, who had already incorporated many Indian aspects into their culture. Thai individuals with Khmer DNA are the descendants of those who were colonized. Historical societal prejudice forced Khmer descendants in Thailand to learn only Thai and they were educated to believe that their heritage was exclusively Thai, not Khmer. Genetic research indicates that the population in Thailand has a diverse ancestry, with a substantial amount of Khmer DNA, while Thai-Chinese individuals have more Chinese, Vietnamese, and occasionally Mongolian heritage. It's important to recognize that when individuals migrate to a new country, they adapt to the local culture. This is what happened when the Thai arrived in Khmer territories, and it's also how contemporary Chinese have integrated into Thai society. This is akin to how Asian immigrants in Europe adapt to local cultures, celebrate local holidays, learn the local language, and sometimes lose connection with their native traditions. We should be aware and respectful of our common roots and cultural heritage. Acknowledging and respecting this diversity can promote increased harmony and appreciation among different communities.
