You found the shortcut to the Capra Demon but people usually use the Firelink Shrine bonfire to get back to him. The path you were using to get back to the Undead Burg (merchant and previously locked gate) also connects back to Firelink Shrine. You mentioned this in the video but the commenters have been telling you how important it is to explore, especially in Dark Souls since it's an interconnected world. It's also important to occasionally go back to Firelink Shrine since NPCs you've interacted with might show up there.

True, I hate people who ruin others first experience with something thinking that they're helping. I mean it doesn't come from a place of ill intent, but come on dude just let the person play the game, and the answer will come eventually. At least she's playing by herself, what I absolutely despise is people playing it live, looking at the chat every 2 seconds, and chat keeps spoiling everything live, when the streamer asks a retorical question, or a question they'd have the answer themselves by playing for like 10-20 more minutes, but ofc chat can't wait

32:29 this has happened multiple times in your Bloodborne and Dark Souls playthroughs: basically walking somewhere and then leaving thinking there's nothing else to do but if you had taken one more step you would have seen a prompt. It was like the time you walked close to Patches the Spider and then left thinking you couldn't talk to him. There was also a locked door in Lower Undead Burg that you walked past.

@@pievancl5457 This, the timidity kills me. And it's very situational, like in an earlier video here she was scared to fight regular enemies but left 3k souls upstairs in Undead Parish to go try fighting the titanite demon at the bottom, and lost them all for nothing. Caution is one thing, being afraid to actually play is torturous. I've seen some people play this game, though, that just drive me completely up a wall. One in particular that I won't name could have had a neon sign pointing to a place and still somehow miss it, and spent a couple hours at the beginning of the game going every way possible except up the hill in Firelink because clearly New Londo was the place to be.

To everyone strugling with this boss: First before fog gate turn right and unlock shortcut from firelink shrine and run Back from there. Second buy shield with 100% dmg reduction from blacksmith or merchant in undead burg. For dex build get katana from same merchant(kill him He drop it). Upgrade your weapon to +5 with shards from blacksmith. When fighting boss dont lock on him and sprint with shield up to up strairs. Kill dogs and then boss. Its pretty easy with good shield and weapon.

I think the Bloodborne DLC and the DS3 DLC are pretty close in terms of difficulty, but that's because DS3 takes a lot of design cues from Bloodborne. Dark Souls 1 is hard because it's the exact opposite of Bloodborne combat. Bloodborne rewards aggression with the rally mechanic, whereas in Dark Souls you'll just get killed. For what it's worth though, you're struggling a lot less than I did on my first Dark Souls 1 playthrough.

First: You learned DS1 mechanics much faster than I did. Respect due. Second: On the question of (not) updating armor in Dark Souls, I firmly believe that getting hit less overall beats getting hit in better armor. The best Dark Souls players run naked characters for maximum agility and stamina conservation, and they only ever upgrade their weapons. They learn boss fights in terms of positioning themselves optimally and/or dodging enemy attacks, using the game's "i-frame" mechanics. Third: Congratulations for beating Capra Demon and his hounds from hell. I hate that fight with a passion.

Cam, I felt your pain! Capra Demon also took me about ten tries. It's not a great boss fight, admittedly, but you have to go in with a plan, and even then it can go wrong. You had a good method for that last attempt, but you could have also plunged him from the stairs each time. Takes about four hits doing it that way.

By the way, the definitive answer to the armor question is NO, don't upgrade it! Doesn't make much of a difference in protection. You're better off upgrading different weapons with the shards.

Personally I loved this bossfight, I think it's great design. When else have you ever felt so ambushed and trapped in a boss fight before? I certainly thought it was super annoying the first time, and during that struggle there wasn't a lot of pleasure to be had in that frustration, but it was great beating it and since the first time I've come to appreciate the design that went into this trap encounter. And I don't mean to say you're wrong to feel that way! Just sharing my own opinion :)

Capra is pretty universally regarded as some pretty poor boss design. Most of the problem stems from the size/shape of the room and how the camera interacts with it. Basically, it's almost impossible to manage your camera manually in the fight unless you know exactly what you are doing, and because of the triple enemies and the way the Capra's moveset works, the fight itself works best if you don't lock on. So, the mechanics of the fight offer a difficulty spike in an area of the game (camera manipulation) that you can't practice or hone that skill in the way you need it for the boss fight outside of repeated attempts at the fight itself. Which doesn't feel nice or fun or anything. If the camera interacted better with the small space, if the game had 8 directional dodging rather than the 4, or if some elements of the fight itself (dog AI, Capra moveset, enemy placement) were adjusted, Capra could easily be a really cool fight. As the person above me said, having that feeling of being trapped in a room with an onslaught of attacks *is* an interesting choice for a fight, and could end up being one of the most compelling fights if the hurdles weren't so high for players who aren't already experts with the game

With Capra demon the real suggestion is to put on the armor with the highest poise and half the work is done. She can get high poise armor in the way available

The Claymore is a badass weapon. It's the one you picked up on the bridge with the dragon. It's also very fun to use. Try that, and if you like it that might help you decide if you want to do more strength. But it will take a lot of strength levels to use one handed. So try it before you level up again. 1:01:03 That back step is a part of the moves of that weapon. 1:06:22 That would be Hidetaka Miyazaki. He is the source of your pain.

I really like the claymore not because it is a very powerful weapon, simply because it is fair, not too slow and not too fast and you must learn to manage your stamina. but she seems to be more of a dexterity person, she will be fine with that weapon or with the short sword.

I know you have long since finished the game but if anyone might find this useful someday; one thing I do with the capra demon is throw a firebomb in front of me as soon as I go through the fog door, it's almost guaranteed to kill one dog right away and if you're lucky it might take care of both of them.

Nice work, Cam. Capra Demon is probably the most annoying boss to newer players, as well as being the cheapest boss due to the small area. I'm loving your playthrough and started a new Dark Souls game myself. Good luck out there. Don't you dare go hollow.

“Whoever made that decision is an idiot!” Or a genius! The idea of the Capra Demon is to encourage the player to do more than just block and hack. You have to fight strategically, and learn how to control your character’s movements in a tight, difficult space, and to use the environment (stairs, in this case) to your advantage, to give you space, time to heal, and to do plunging attacks. You learned that. I’m impressed though, you have done much better than most players I’ve seen up to this point. Good job!

A little warning, there are a few weapons with which you can't kick. Instead you're doing a swipe/poke followed by a little hop backwards. And I think the Estoc is one of those weapons. Just so when you try to do a kick or you're character does that move, you know what happened.😉 Oh yeah, and when you equip armor or weapons that up your resistances, you will see the bars for those resistances like you do, when you get hit by any of those statuses. That's why you see the bars, when you equip your tail axe. Also, maybe you already know that, with a pokey weapon like you Estoc or a spear, you can hold block and stab with R1 at the same time. Very useful. 😉 Maybe all the people saying Bloodborne is the hardest one have played Dark Souls before and had to change their muscle memory to the slower playstyle of Bloodborne. No you will have to do it the other way round and you think Dark Souls is much harder. 😂 Good thing you didn't shoot the tail of the dragon. It'll give you a weapon that's a little OP, at least in the beginning. Who wants that? 😜 One more thing: You're doing great. 😉

Re the dragon tail weapon. I'm playing blind so didn't know anything about a tail weapon, but ended up with it. I was shooting the dragon's head from one side for a while and finally lost interest after about 100 shots and then moved on and saw the moving tail. I thought this a perfect opportunity to practice shooting a moving object. I shot it about 15 times (missed it about 15 times too) and all of sudden there were sparkles and I get an item. I thought I had killed the dragon and was celebrating my kill when I heard it roar. I was like.. there are 2? Well you probably know already the ending of the story, I had just shot off its tail. I was so disappointed that I just tossed the tail in the box at the bondfire and never looked at it again.

@@therabbitpants2199 the main reason I see people struggling with dark souls - they ignore what the game gives them. They refuse to explore and find materials, or to use them, or to simply go another available path and come back when they are stronger. I can't imaging anything, literally anything, including controls (which are crappy indeed) can be a bigger reason to struggle than that. That refusal to explore their options is a huge deal.

@@alanklm Some things the game offers you aren't exactly intuitive, and can only be understood after playing the game once or twice. What makes Dark Souls 1 easy for veterans, is that it can very easily be exploited. But to know how, you have to learn the game first.

@@therabbitpants2199 the main things are quite intuitive. If you see a forking path it is obvious for everyone that you can go both left AND right. If you get upgrade materials it is obvious for everyone that you can use them. I'm talking about exactly this things, very basic. Just like Cambonano were fighting with +0 weapon when she could have +5, and she knew it, just didn't want to "waste" materials.

Don't feel too bad. The Capra Demon gave me more trouble than any other boss in the game, and is my second least favorite. If you don't mind a word of advice (perhaps you've already figured this out), since you are in light armor, you are better off trying to dodge hits rather than blocking them. Since you are new to the game, don't bother upgrading armor. You will get many new sets of armor through the game, and they will all have various strengths and weaknesses. When you are familiar with the game and know what you want from the start, then you can upgrade your favorite set. Weapons however... don't hesitate to upgrade them. If you find something you like better, it's not too difficult to upgrade it as well, especially if you don't spend resources on armor. I apologize if my advice is too late... I only just discovered your channel! :-)

I'm having so much fun watching how you do things and comparing it to how I do things. Most of the time I prefer my method, but I wish I would be able to switch between weapons the way you are able to. I've tried and I'm so use to the original weapon everything else feels wrong to me. If I win with another weapon, it feels like luck and not skill. I'll keep trying hoping to get as good at switching to the best weapon for the situation as Cam is.

For now you can probably hold off on upgrading armor. Its not that its not useful but your resources are better spent on upgrading weapons. Also, upgrading armor will increase its weight, which will influence your equip load. You will find new sets of armor, so you should wait and experiment. The ones you were looking at in your outro are basically trash so forget about those. You were right, the black leather you are wearing is the best you got. Also, very smart to wear the gargoyle helmet. Gear dropped by bosses can be very good. To be honest, at some point you will probably wear parts of different sets, or at least thats what worked best for me. Nice work on the Capra Demon. :)

it is okay to reinforce anything, it has better value than level ups... however if you don't know if you're going to change the item later, only use materials which are being sold (titanite shards at your current point)

Great job! You figured out the plunge attack by dropping down on the Boss... Does a lot of nice damage. Just a suggestion but you now have considered probably the best weapon in the game by many and the great thing is you get it early to level it up as well... The Claymore is just a fantastic weapon... Can take you all the way through the game. It is a Strength weapon but has excellent reach and damage out put. Any how something to think about since you do have it now. The heater shield is an excellent shield at first that you can buy from the one vendor you have been to... It is light and great against fire damage. I know the transition is really difficult going from Bloodborne to this Dark Souls Game, it was for me too... You are starting to get your rhythm in this kind of play style once you do it will start to go better for you.

I'm playing this game blind. I did find the Claymore and was able to upgrade it, so far, to +5. I had been using a straight sword. The problem I find is the Claymore is a lot slower of a swing than the straight sword. Therefore, I frequently get hit and stunned before I get a swing off when using the Claymore but the straight sword always hits first and frequently stuns my opponent so I can get in another swing. I now believe that I have to have a different fighting method using the Claymore, like letting the other guy swing first and then counter swing or block and then attack. Any claymore fighting advice?

@@richarddkearney A lot of it is just timing and getting used to the speed of the weapon you are going from a quicker weapon to a strength weapon... You want to get your strength up there for sure... The power of the Claymore I loved... It has reach and as a strength weapon actually swings faster then any of the other strength weapons in this game. For Dark Soul's 1 it is considered the best over all weapon in the game but honestly my opinion it depends on the person and how they like to fight in a game like this... I personally like strength and power and that isn't a style that is for everyone. But it sounds like your doing great in the game so far... Best of luck and work on your timing and spacial distance of your enemy.

Good job really, it took you 10 tries while for me they were well over 20 if not 30, and much deeper in the game ahaha The experience on a previous souls game shows, I'll finish the whole playlist and catch up on DS2

Equip load is percentage based. So lets say you have 100 equip load in total. If you are not over 25, your movement will be lithe, and you will barrel roll. If its not over 50, you will still move ok, but your roll will become slower and less effective. Over 50 your movement becomes sluggish and you will "fat roll". Try to avoid this at all costs, unless you are going for a heavy build. There are certain advantages to this but it does not seem to be your playstyle, so im just saying. Also, for the forst time ever im gonna break my own rule and actually tell you something. Buy a bow and lots of wooden arrows. With a bow, you can go into first person mode by pressing L1 i think. If im wrong, check the bows item description, it will tell you how to do it. When you are under the bridge that leads to those damn rats :p you can see the dragons tail. Shoot it until something happens. It might take a while but i guarantee it will be worth it. Im only telling you this because there is no way anyone can figure this out on their forst playthrough, and it will teach you a valuable lesson. Btw, you already saw this when you cut off the gargoyles tail and got the axe. Cut. Off. Tails! No more spoilers i promise. As always, you are becoming better and better my friend. :)

I think this will take over 200 or is it even over 300 arrows? If you buy wooden ones. I like the bow to pull enemies as well. Cam, if you do get "the thing" from the drake, realize that it will be powerful but eventually become obsolete.

I feel like Capra demon is more of a methodical boss. It takes the concept of having to fight a not that difficult enemy in a small space. You have the stairs, and once you use them, the fight is as easy as it gets. Thats what I like more about the bosses in dark souls, compared to demons souls. Where the difficulty is more due to them just being tougher or faster. Not as creative as here.

You killed her in 2 tries...I nearly cried when I saw how much easier it was for you. I know this isn't Elden Ring but just want to say you are an exceptional gamer, sure there are insane guys who can run things naked with no hits but that's not normal

I’m on this boss now in my play through, it took me 15 tries. Most of those tried I basically got spawn killed or stun locked by those stupid dogs

You are very good at the action/fighting part, but you didn't even try to grind souls for a bit. I know it's boring, but that's what I do in rpgs so I at least have some proper stats to tackle difficult bosses. Skills are important, but when anyone can one shot you, it's pretty hard to succeed

It is very challenging and I bet that almost no one succeeded on the first try. I think the best move is to immediately run up the stairs and try to eliminate the dogs from there. It also helps to wear heavy armor for poise but use a quick weapon like a scimitar, Estoc, or spear. Capra is manageable once the dogs are dead.

i wa slucky. I used a spear too to keep a frontal stab and avoid smacking walls to poke them up the stairs, then plunge the demon and stab him from behind when he does a slow move.

in which world is bloodborne the hardest souls-game? also the capra demon is kinda easy if you know how.. you can simply run in circles and use the "drop attack" - which the game taught you at the first boss at the undead asylum - from the top of the stairs.... and if that does not work you can even cheese him by buying tons of firebombs and throw them over the wall and hit/kill him without even entering his room... btw: the same goes for the taurus demon.. there is this huge tower with 2 archers on top.. you can climb that tower and easily kill the demon with drop attacks from the tower

Whoever told you that Bloodbourne was the hardest game was making a joke. Bloodbourne throws so many healing vials at you, that the only way you can die is if you just don't heal yourself during the boss battles.

that's objectively not true. i've seen many people run out of healing items in bloodborne and have to farm for them. you carry at least 20 at a time and if you fight a boss several times you can easily run through dozens if not hundreds of vials in your inventory, faster than you can replace them. not to mention, it's not just healing that makes a game easier/harder.

Capra demon is the most frustrating boss to many new players and stops many from playing the game so congratulations. I personally did not fight Capra demon until way later in the game

Heh.. Capra is not hard. She has a bad weapon and not using plunging attack. Some better shield + claymore +2 or 3 make killing Capra demon more easier. Dogs are killing in beginnig with one attack.

I think Capra Demon is one of the most hated boss fights in the series. (There may be some in DS2 that are worse.) Not so much because of the Capra Demon, but because of those two damn dogs.

Yup, Capra demon is the worst boss in this game. Half this fight is about the shitty boss arena... But at least using the estoc was a good choice, because a slashing weapon would've got stuck on the walls upstairs, and that's super frustrating.

Crapra Demon. Biggest BS boss in Dark Souls. Can be cheesed tho' without setting foot in the "arena". About 20 firebombs and a bow to aim should do it.

It is interesting that you beat the boss by using such a bad weapon. Your normal attacks made only 30 damage, which is ridiculously bad. I checked the Capra Daemon's health from the Wiki, and counted that you would have to hit him with 39 normal attacks to kill him. That's insane. By this point in the game, you should be doing so much more damage. PS. I think the people that told you to level up endurance were probably trolling you. Yes, towards the end game, it is nice to have a bit more stamina, but at the start of the game, it really does nothing for you. Having something like 110 stamina instead of 100 is completely irrelevant. Instead, leveling up Strength for example, would give you access to much better weapons. It is one of the only stats that does not unlock anything useful for you in the early game.

I could have killed that Capra Demon the first time I fought him (edit: just noticed that I was level 35 so that probably made a big difference) but I thought the fight was fun and wanted to practiced. Therefore I quit fighting and just stood there until he killed me. I did that a couple of more times before I decided to finish him off. Is there any other way of practicing that fight than to suicide or start a new character and level him up to that point? I dislike the fact that when you find a fight entertaining the game doesn't let you repeat it over and over. They need a button on the wall or something to resummon a boss so you can try out different strategies. I would like to know if I could dagger him to death, or use a halbred with its strange (to me it is strange and I find it hard to use) moveset in that room or even a rapier and poke him slowly to death. So many methods, I'll never get to try. It is so disappointing.

oof! Capra Demon is the absolute fucking worst. There aren't many fights in the game that I would consider unfair. Maybe two or three. But Capra is definitely one of them no matter the context. It's a complete bullshit fight. Almost every other boss gives you a chance to learn their pattern the first time. Not Capra... fucking nonsense...
