I appreciate the detail and even-handedness of your review. Nobody else I lined to on this streamer (about a half dozen KZbin reviewers mentioned the fact that the power supply was internal, I’m not sure if Cambridge itself mentions it (or I missed it), anyway, I had taken it off my list, you’ve put it back on! I’ve grown to hate power bricks, and I assumed from the figure eight power connection it used an external power supply. I came back to wire the comment. Subscribed.

That was a great review. Thanks. First time viewer, and I liked, subbed & set all notifications. Glad I found you. I’m definitely adding a streamer to my two-channel stereo rig., and this is at the top of my list. Never had a streamer. I now am looking at the Cambridge streamers and the Wiim Pro Plus & the Wiim Ultra.

Many thanks for this informative and comprehensive review. I no longer have a family member at home and use my PC for storage and streaming duties, but there is a need/use for this equipment. I do believe there are cheaper competitors to this, but it will boil down to individual environments. I am interested in hearing your review on the DAC. Thank you for your time and efforts to review and share this with us all. Much appreciated.

I love my MXN10 for Qobuz and the radio. It sounds fantastic and is beyond a CD. The only thing that beats it is a very high end LP that is AAA that costs between $60 and $150. It's sway better than Bluesound and the app more stable than BlueSound.

Using an iPhone with Apple Music set at its highest resolution for wifi streaming, I presume I then merely choose the AXN10 as the airplay speaker in which case I have two questions: 1. What is the highest resolution the AXN10 can receive and then play? 2. Is the stream magic app on my iPhone then redundant or can it still be used concurrently with the iPhone’s Apple Music app? Thank you.

Great reviews! I posted this question on one of your older videos, not realizing it was older... I am looking for an upgrade path on headphones and wanted your thoughts specifically. Here is the question. Can you recommend a headphone around $500? I would prefer it to be a little under 500. I am looking at the senheisser hd660s2, hd650, hd600, hifiman edition xs. I already have the hd560s, hifiman he400se, harmonicdyne Athena, pc38x, h6pro open, game one, SS Nova pro wired, audeze Penrose. Using ifi Zen air can and air dac, for gaming dacs nova pro dac, sound blaster gc7, and the g6. I am looking for something warm, smooth, clear, with good soundstage and imaging. I prefer wired not interested in wireless. Thank you for any advice you can give, it is much appreciated.

Hello, nice review. Please, I want to know if this device can play gapless hi-res files stored on an external HDD. At the same time, if it can offer access to radio stations via the Internet, I am thinking of those radio stations that I now access thru TuneIn service. Thank you.

My connection is weak so it's probably not even worth trying unless I get a mesh network which would cost nearly as much as the streamer. So few streamers work well from wifi. If I thought this one could I'd consider it.

My issue with it is the price. There's literally nothing complex or unique about it technically, and whilst yes it looks reasonably well made, we are still talking mass produced using inexpensive materials and construction. I bet they could sell this for $250 and still make a decent profit. I wonder if Schiit make a streamer dac...I bet it would be better quality and half the price of this it they do.
@morespinach983211 ай бұрын
Schiit hasn’t gone into streamers for some reason.

As Oscar Wilde said 'only a cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing' 😀 For me the retail price is very fair as it represents good value for money in the marketplace. If it sounds great, is well built, has longevity and good connectivity, GBP350 is really good value. There are many similar units on sale at higher prices. Also, keep in view, a good chunk of the asking price will be required to cover R&D. Happy New year. Greetings from the UK

@@essexrider3016 There's VERY little research required these days for streamers - they're extremely easy to make. So it really all just comes down to quality components and "design". Their markup on this will be huge.

I already have the DacMagic 200m. Currently connecting my computer to it and streaming Tidal. It sounds great but isn’t convenient. If I were to get this, is there any reason to keep the DAC? It seems pretty redundant. Thanks for what you do!
@GadgetryTech Жыл бұрын
It depends how you use it. There isn't a real DAC with the MXN10, so if you connect to your PC via USB, the DacMagic is a better choice. If you use optical or something else, then you could probably get away with switching to the MXN10 if you also don't need a headphone jack
@GreenHoleSun4 ай бұрын
@@GadgetryTech why did you say that there is no dac? It's a ESS SABRE ES9033Q.
@GadgetryTech4 ай бұрын
That DAC is only used for the wireless streaming support. There’s no USB DAC for use on your PC. So it depends what you need it for

I am not getting the concept? What is the point of this if I can just connect my phone, tablet, laptop, PC or even TV to a receiver, stereo et al to play music? Why do I need to use the same devices to connect to another device to do the same thing? I can already connect my phone, tablet, PC and laptop to my NAS and play music from there streamed to Bluetooth connected audio devices. Most newish phones and devices support LDAC and so do plenty of well priced and reviewed desktop and portable DAC/amps/Bluetooth Receivers. You can even add Bluetooth receivers to older equipment that lack that functionality. I am willing to bet the vast majority of people could not pick LDAC out in a blind test......and I finally answered my own question while writing this, audiophile snobbery. OK I get it now.

It's like cars, if you are happy with a 20 year old Toyota then what is the point of buying a brand new BMW?
@calumjones9 ай бұрын
They have a genuine purpose. E.g. I bought this because I have a speaker system with line in but no bluetooth or wifi. Obviously using a PC there is literally zero use for this. Like buying an amp for active speakers. These things are made to fulfill a role some people need.
