Cambridge Surprise Minor at Withington, Gloucestershire

A couple of extracts from a quarter peal on this fine, old-fashioned mid-weight six, filmed 8th April 2015. By request of Mr irkibby Esquire, Joe Norton brought the "Dancing La-La" t-shirt out for the occasion, and we hope he enjoys the telletubbyy boogying! (Meanwhile, I had to wear my name so people knew who to target... Infamy, infamy!)
The bells were all cast by Abel Rudhall of Gloucester in 1738-9; presumably, the 5th was recast soon after, as it dates from 1747! They were rehung in a new wooden frame by Whites of Appleton in 1981, when they were also tuned; the bells retain their canons.
The church is a fine building, Norman in parts, and is sited on the River Coln in a very pretty little part of the county.
