She motivates me, I have always wanted to be a zoo keeper and like her, i’m interested in reptiles and would like to have a pet bearded dragon! But we all know that that’s not gonna happen in sg lol~ I didn’t manage to get into a course related to zoology in Poly but I am so ready to be part of the Singapore Zoo in near future!

Hey i also extremely love animals, have been going to the zoo since I was less than a year old and decided when I was 5/6 that I wanted to study about animals and work in the zoo as a keeper one day. Similarly I wasn’t able to get into a poly course related to animals as well but I managed to convince my parents to allow me to apply for zoology/Wildlife science in Australia. How about you try to convince your parents to let you go study zoology overseas such as in Queensland or Perth. Show them that u truly are passionate about animals and that you are serious about becoming a zookeeper and maybe they will let you go overseas. All the best to you 😊

Aww! Extremely love this episode! Being a zookeeper isn't easy and they are the people that make the zoo possible! (With the animals of course) I absolutely adore going to the zoo and visiting animals. I must say that zookeepers do go beyond just cleaning their exhibits. They know a lot about the animals and show a lot of care to them. (love those keeper interactions/feeding sessions where I get to know the names of the animals and more about their species.) Keep doing what you love Sarah! Can't wait to visit the zoo again! Also big thanks Zula for this episode!

Kinda sad parents say those shits to kids. I can see why she is offended by it and zookeeping is more than just cleaning after the animal after years of studying. Wish parents could still have some sort of respect for people cleaning our streets, not make our future generation feel like they're better than everyone just because they're not a cleaner.

I think when I was about 7 years old, I met Sarah and she had always been my role model ever since. I aspire to be a zookeeper since I was small so instead of just going to the zoo to look at the animals, I actually spend time observing the way the animals behave or what adaptations they have to give maximum benefit. I'm hoping that by the time I finished my o'levels, I would like to start working at the zoo. I am not confident that I'll be able to take veterinary bio science in poly nor going to university for zoology but nevertheless, I will still work hard to achieve my goal of becoming a zookeeper in the future. I'm currently in Sec 3 so I go to the zoo during my holidays or even during the weekends to distress. I recently went and I got the opportunity to touch my favourite snake. I'm so happy :)

Can't believe people would say "if u don't study hard, you will end up like her". These people are SO rude. 😑

they do that to janitors, cleaners, low wage jobs in general. But they forget that SOMEONE needs to do their job and its important that someone does it. Be glad that others want to do the jobs you do not want to do. And sometimes these people do their jobs not because they were not hard working or not smart. Sometimes some aunties or uncles just like doing something instead of nothing at home and its purely out of choice. To the ones that have to take up the jobs because they have no choice, its unfortunate that they are not as privileged, and others should recognise the privilege they have to be educated. ye some ppl just damn rude for no reason

She is an awesome individual and my hat's off to her 👏. If it weren't for people like her who really care about animals, There wouldn't be any Zoos to go visit and enjoy. ❤

I think the work you guys do is amazing, I would love to do it myself and I have a degree in finance and accounts. It's sad to see people say things like, if you don't study, you will end up like that. Every job should be respected. I personally would tell my kids, if you study hard and if you love animals, you could be a zookeeper some day :) Keep up the awesome work. Waiting for the day I can make a visit to Singapore zoo. Lots of love from Mumbai, India. 🙂

I’m torn. Zoo is a space where animals are kept in captivity and are made to live in a place unlike their natural habitat (ik they imitate but it’s still different) so should I still support and visit? At the same time, people who work at ZOOs are animal lovers & I heard SG ZOO help breed some endangered monkey species so is the zoo bad after all ? Idk I’m confused if I should still support Zoos, comment your opinions maybe !!

A zoo is as ethical as keeping a pet. At the very least they significantly increases the animal's survival rate as a species, as well as individuals. If the animal is content, then it's even better, and if it's an endangered species, then even better still. Of course thid depends from zoo to zoo as some 'zoos' really don't bother with keeping their animals happy at all

I guess it depends on how zoos care for its animals? Certain zoos operate for profits, keeping animals in tiny enclosures and starve and train them for shows to maximise economic gains. However, there are others like Sg Zoo which seems quite ethical, at least they are providing an adequate environment for these animals, breeding them and ensuring their survival as compared to leaving them in the wild.

Singapore also need zoologist to look aft the otters, wild boars, birds on migration in and around our island. Educate the public to not only welcome foreign talents, but also the animals that call Singapore their home too. Jungle in the city😀

Is tapir real animal, looking like anteater? Like impossible have an animal like that? Heard it's like hyenas are cannibals and this as human inside, but definitely will think of elephant as the dinosaur of it.
