Hey Jake, I'm a budding Comp sci/Engineer from France and I was wondering a few things - Should I apply for Comp sci or engineering? What college is the best for Land economy? Which operating system is preferred by the International, History students of Christ college? How do I possibly prevent RSI when using a laptop? Thank you.

its to nice to see people actually walking the streets and riding bikes to get where they need to go. i live in florida, i once saw someone slowly driving a pick up truck with an obese man in the back holding the leash attached to his dog while the dog was walking behind the truck... so seeing people actually going places without the use of a machine is amazing to me. it makes me feel normal that i walk to the store.

Ok so I am a high school student in the US, and I'm trying to get ready for college in about two years. I really like how you show your life. Also I love how you vlog over a few days. Your videos are surprisingly high quality. Keep up the great vids :)

Hi Jake, i shall try to avoid asking a stupid question, haha! What apps do you have on your mac? You seem like the kind of person to dislike a crowded system so the ones you have must be essential? I have been following your videos from the start, such a great addition to the pre-cambridge experience!

I have 121 items in my Applications folder so it's not that minimal haha. The apps I have open everyday are Safari, Mail, Spotify, Final Cut and Twitter.

I recently completed a Computer Science degree and I am curious why you were made to focus on Prolog? I found it really difficult to adapt to after having familiarity with Java, C and C#.

Hello Jake, I was wondering whether you have had any jobs, apprenticeships or internships, and if so what were they, as i am considering getting a job in 6th form and don't know whether to or not as it may effect my grades, but i think getting a job with the extra money will be useful
@jakewrightnet10 жыл бұрын
I did work experience when I was about 16 at a software development company and then went back to the same place 2 more times over the two summers before uni. This was good experience and great for my personal statement. It's quite common to get internships once you've started uni but I haven't yet. I think that while you're at sixth form it's really good to just get experience to help get into uni, but I've seen people balance a part time job and A Levels.

What happens when your late to a lecture or supervision?
@jakewrightnet10 жыл бұрын
Nothing. Lecturers don't seem to care about people wandering in late and a supervisor probably wouldn't do much either. If you're consistently late to supervisions you might end up with an angry director of studies chasing you.

Hi Jake, how much knowledge (programming) wise do you recommend you need before starting comp sci at uni? I've heard people who've never programmed struggle so just wanted to know :)
@jakewrightnet10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's useful to have some knowledge, and I found it helpful to know about object oriented programming in advance. You don't need to be an expert because it'll all be taught on the course but just knowing the basics will prevent you from getting confused straight away in lectures.
