I know that stress feeling all too well. One day, I had a Chemistry exam and then the next day I had a math exam followed by a physics one. One thing that helps me study is that I pretend like I am a teacher, and I talk out the subject and content of the test. Also I know you probably did great on your exams, but my older brother gave me this advice which is people should be excited while taking exams, because they are a test of knowledge. Remember everyone needs to work hard to make Fn>Fg so that they can accelerate to new heights (Some physics philosophy).

I remember second year when I didn't want to do anything like sleep or eat because it would take away from my study time so I totally get what you mean (and my workload was not nearly as intense!) But looking back I wish I'd taken breaks (including sitting and eating a meal AWAY from where I was working!) I think you've got a good balance.

I’ve just finished my first year and I’m thinking of doing double physics and maths next year like you but I wasn’t very keen on the scientific computing course this year and was wondering how important the coding is in physics B and what sort of level it’s taught at? The phys B computing course was actually cancelled this year because they didn’t manage to organise the course materials in time so we did no coding 😂 but it sounds like there is usually a fairly basic python project to complete - I now need to learn to code properly over summer haha

Hey guys, just graduated fourth year here (though staying on). I know that the coding course has recently switched from C to Python (hence probably why didn't have one this year). Just wanted to say my piece which is A) scientific computing in first year is very unrepresentative of later year coding in natsci, it's often much more fun later on B) I imagine the coding projects would be similar to past years, so basic particle position modelling orbits/balls in a box, things like that C) coding is an invaluable skill to have as a science degree holder, they'll probably teach you from scratch whatever happens in future years and the projects won't be that hard/flexible and up to you to an extent. I think in my year they were only 7% of my physics mark or so and thus not too significant. :) Hope that helps (in third year physics/astro/maths there is a lot more coding though) :)

Tldr: coding super important in jobs/physics and can be fun. MATLAB (1st year) is awful, python et al (later years) is not. They don't expect you to be good at coding at Cambridge (as a natsci) and impetus on coding sections contributions to grades reflects this.

My plan was always to do physics but I was slightly put off by the computing aspect and the my growing interest in the materials course but I definitely still think my passion lies in physics.
