How to play Mr Pink by Mark King. In this lesson I look at two of the fills using plucks and sliding octave. I've made a chart of the hits, plucks and slaps. Kind of like a slap bass tab . You'll find that at the end of the video.

I use the Mark King Bass Book by Stuart Clayton which include: Sandstorm Mr. Pink 43 Foundation & Empire The Return of the Handsome Rugged Man Bass Solo (A Physical Presence 1985) Bass Solo (Guaranteed Live 1991) Theme To Margaret 88 Dune Tune The Pursuit of Accidents The Essential Bass Solo (Live at Wembley 1986) Bass Solo (Live at Reading 2001) A exellent book and helps alot if you feel that you are stucked some places.The book is very correct but it will always be flaws anyway when people try to do it 100 % but i can say that this is 99.8% correct

+Mats Evensen Yeah I've heard a few people mention that book. I've always just worked stuff out by ear. It's not always 100% correct but I feel it's good to put your own interpretation on music

+Cambridge Bass Lessons totally agree i also almost do the most stuff by ear, but on Theme to maragareth i had to ffind out how he did the theme to margareth trick with that almost artificial A and the finger play how he did the right "chord section" with the open long A with a C" straight after that on the finger play section and on the hardest solo of em all that i think is the solo from Guaranteed, the way he manged to get that insane groove on it, if you know what im talking about. Have you tried to play that section with Mr Pink the way i was trying to explaining it and the Theme to Margareth way to play those sections. I gave your Mr Pink a try...lol but im not sure who has the right thing. It is actualy a very coplicated song to learn on different patterns, it's definately not a intermediate song to play if you want it nearly 100 % correct, it is a tricky bastard even victor wootenns u can't hold no groove is more easy to play. I have 2 Mr pinks on my channel, the first is my own version long back in time, but i found a track here on you tube called Mr pink minus one, a great version of mr

With low E, and then an upper C# & D in the bass plus Lindup’s melody, what scale is this based upon? What key is this section?

Hello again, is this section E dorian? If yes, then what formal key would be displayed in a chart, would it be E minor w/ a raised 6th?

Sorry have me excused i seldom looking at learning videos, so my tab language are BAD very bad, but i wanted to check out you're version and try to compare the small differences we play on this pattern. I play a hammer on, call it slap with the entire left hand or wathever(muted and hard offcourse) over the strings after the C# and D notes with my left hand so i get that snare effect of my hammer on and then i play a short muted E and open short E and repeat with the same start pattern you showed here on the video and the second variation Mark do with the F#-G#on the A string and E slap on the G string, also my own stuff aswell. You are a level head as me and from my point of view you do it extremely near the way it should be played Ace stuff m8, ps i noticed you played theme to margareth, very well :) but if you play the main theme from the B on the A string you will get the open A that gives you the kind of a vibration(artificiall) sound it does on the tape) and then pluck A at the G string hammering hard to B, 2 slaps on the B in the end and the plucking on the 4 string A-B and the rolling with the F# and A Forget the last, just try to play Theme to margareth on the lighter strings use The A string D and G most of the song main team and fingerplay both the slap and finger play sections will be 10 times more easy to play and cooler
