This video was very well done. It answered many questions I've had about lenses. I will watch this many more times until I fully understand and can remember everything. Excellent tutorial. THANK YOU!

What’s confusing to me is how to size my hoods vs lens filters vs lens caps. I’m trying to do that and I am getting all these special rules and exceptions.... geez cant the camera manufactures come up with some hand dandy reference chart to figure it out or just standardize the design?

Great video! I use a Canon 7d with a cropped sensor. I would like to ask...what is the minimun focal length on a lens for this camera that will not have the fish eye effect? I would like a little more wide angle in my lens but i do not like a fish eye effect. I do have a Canon-L 24-105 but sometimes need wider angle. Thanks.

Jenny M. Unless a lens is a fisheye lens, it won't have the "fisheye look" check out the canon 10-18! An amazing lens at an affordable price.

Sorry dude. You did not answer the question I was asking. Ie. what do those numbers below the manual focus ring (in that small window) mean? Thanks anyway.

what does filter do??

Many things, depending on the type. Simply put, it's a piece of glass or plastic that goes in front of the lens to do various things with the light entering the lens to get different results. Some examples are; Colour filters - to colour tint, or 'remove' a colour from the light Polarising filters - to remove light coming from specific directions ; helps to reduce haze and flare Neutral Density (ND) filters - used to reduce the intensity of light entering the lens; so you can do things you wouldn't normally be able to do in bright light (long exposure or wide aperture in the sun for example). There's more to it, but that's pretty much a summary.

Awesome, thanks for the great reply! I'll also be doing a video on lens filters in the future.

wow amazing video. searching for camera and lens now. maybe you have any recomendations? im begginer used my smartphone for pictures and loved doing every single of them. usualy i take kinda landscape/architectural pictures and some times kinda sport ones (today found about about that new therm for me - "sport pictures" :D ) so i think around 18-70mm should work perfectly for me? also kinda on budget. so if you have any recomendations please give me :D not sure which camera i should get.. (also thinking about buying used one with lenses). TY.

The 18-70mm range is definitely a great place to start! I'd consider that a very good all around kit lens.

There are lots of options! Are you currently looking at any in particular? What's your budget?
@NosBoy14157 жыл бұрын
currently just cheking vids and reading reviews. budget aint that big, where i live better cameras goes for a lot of money that i dont have :D id say budget around 500-600. also might get used one as my first camera - cheap and with few lenses for begging might be ideal.

I agree, buying used might be the way to go! There are a lot of good deals to be had on used equipment.

Thanks! I'm a graphic designer here in Manila. I'm also part of a company that provides computer programming education to kids. And while I'm not doing either of those, I'm also an indoor cycling instructor.

CamCrunch nice! where do you buy your camera gear for digital and for film?
@CamCrunch7 жыл бұрын
I actually haven't bought equipment here in a long time. I usually buy my equipment abroad. Trying to look for a good local place to buy gear at the moment as well. Any recommendations?
@Miggy01357 жыл бұрын
CamCrunch ohh, well a lot of people i know say a good place to buy gear is in hidalgo quiapo but i haven't personally tried yet. They say you get the best deals there. Henrys professional are also good, they sell a lot of stuff that are photography and videography related stuff that aren't sold in most camera stores. Thats where I've bought my gear but will try to explore quiapo too
