It felt like suburbia: porches where you sst after church drinking lemonade, the candy store, Bass', the Red Front, Powell School and Burrough. In retrospect, remarkably beautiful women. The whole half of our block came in the street to wish me well when I left for college: don't know how the word got around: my Pakistani Dad and Reserved Mom were close mouthed: quietly proud. All 4 of us have have degrees.married well as they say, and have lovely homes, so growing up in the so called poorer city in the US didn't scar us.

I remember walking down Broadway passing the Camden brewery when it still was open to go to school to Sacred Heart .The brewery closed around 1963 ?I moved out in 1969 !

I went to Rutger's in Camden back in 1975. It was a war zone then and certainly didn't improve over the years.

Newton Creek colony preceeded Philadelphia ( Wiccaco) by one year.. Gloucester ( Arwains ) The native names of this local . (Tiimmer Kill ) -- Dutch name name of Big Timber Creek, where fort Nassau was at Gloucester point in the 1630 's

It's really sad that Camden is not like this anymore even though nowadays even better been many years in the past but still when I was going to school I never learned any of this or went to field trips to certain places in Camden which I would want other kids to learn about Camden past history.

Hi :-) wow i was born in camden nj. Now that is a big change over years. From 1936-Now this something to look on and learn about life . I wouldn't live back in same place!!!!!! It bad now!!!! I thanks. Gods for Va. It nice here.
