It felt like suburbia: porches where you sst after church drinking lemonade, the candy store, Bass', the Red Front, Powell School and Burrough. In retrospect, remarkably beautiful women. The whole half of our block came in the street to wish me well when I left for college: don't know how the word got around: my Pakistani Dad and Reserved Mom were close mouthed: quietly proud. All 4 of us have have degrees.married well as they say, and have lovely homes, so growing up in the so called poorer city in the US didn't scar us.

I remember walking down Broadway passing the Camden brewery when it still was open to go to school to Sacred Heart .The brewery closed around 1963 ?I moved out in 1969 !
