Oh Julie, you brought me to laugh regarding the baboon comment. A well needed laugh as I sit at ALL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL here in Tampa area. My youngest grandson was diagnosed with a brain tumor last Friday and had surgery on Monday. What a trying time. He’s a trooper, though. A very resilient 9 year old. I love junk journaling. I saw my 1st junk journal during the COVID lockdown and fell in love. I needed something to keep busy and use my creativity and imagination. The first time I sewed in my signatures, i followed all of the steps and suggestions, everyone said to do, including buying waxed thread. It was a fiasco. I couldnt get that thread to tighten down. I even had a second person put thier finger on the knott to make sure it held tight. Well it wouldnt stay tight. I ended up gluing all three signatures in leaving that stupid waxed inthere too. I then covered the stitching with fabric and lace. That finnaly worked i can see it, but no one else can.

I turn 60 this year and have decided to make it a year of trying new things, doing something each week and best of all not spending any money on craft supplies other than glues etc but use what I have! I have made myself a no spend calendar where I cross out each day I didn't buy anything. I have also made an accordion envelope pouch which holds the weekly savings. I am a visual person and need a challenge to keep me on track. So, super happy to have you do a No spend January Julie! I'm going to do journals and a lot of mass makes to use my over abundant stash :) I did make my self a 2025 journal with some of my stash. Exciting times ahead Julie xx

I love watching you craft, plan or no plan. I always learn something from you and you remember me not to get so fussy with the details. I have been making for awhile now just hoarding what i make but last week I made a couple folios and used up some of my tags, cards, and clusters. It felt so great having stuff on hand to use. Before that I'd make as i needed. I got new cubbies and shelves in my craft room so hopefully it'll help me have more room to be more organized. I have a plan in place so that should help also.

Good to see your post when I signed in today, love your warty Junk Journal it is Perfectly Imperfect. Someone told me to use hand sanitizer when your hands are gluey and it takes it right off. I love the flower fairies and I had been looking for any book with them for ages, then I found a compilation book with all the seasons, in a charity shop, I was so excited. BUT when I got it home and began to look through, cherishing each page, someone had already cut some of them out, I was so upset, that I hadn’t thought to check but also that someone had actually donated an incomplete book, I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t do that without some warning on the front. 😢 However the pictures that remain are delightful so I look forward to using those in my journals, but in future I will always flick through. I’ve watched you, Julie, for several years now and you always inspire me and make me chuckle, thank you x.

So glad to see a new video. Watching and listening to your videos always makes my day! I've found that using a piece of Styrofoam under my signature to punch the holes works really well. Less pricking of my finger and allows me to get the awl further with no shifting of the pages and larger holes. Your method was much more entertaining to watch! 😂

And what a great tutorial to start 2025! ❤🥳Warts and all is the way most of us learn, everyone has their own technique and it takes plenty of practice to get 'the one' that suits us best! I've started sewing my signatures together as per normal but then putting them into the cover with elastic, then I can take one signature out at a time and work on it, if I did it without sewing it to start with, I find pages fall out all over the place and get on my nerves lol 🤣

HAPPY NEW YEAR JULIE!!!!!! Well you really are constructing this journal on the fly- very rarely have I seen you work without worrying about corners, straight cut edges- embrace the freedom!!!! Love how it went from a flimsy soft cover single signature to a harder big spines multi signature. I think working without a plan is good in itself hat you don’t have to redo it because it’s not what was in the plan 😂. I look forward to to see the completion of this with embellishments ❤
