Cameo 3 Blade Versus CB09

Some people are wondering if the Cameo 3 can use the Cb09. I cut a design using the Cameo blade and the Cb09. If you want to use the Cb09 in your Cameo 3, it must be able to slide in without spreading the blade holder. The Cameo 3 cannot be spread.

On the Cameo 3 I 'wiggled' the blade just a bit and it opened the blade holder enough to slip the blade in. Once I did it was easy to take it out and put it in again.

Few words about CB09 holder and blades. It works very well, cuts good clean accurate lines on many tested materials. Much more better and precise results, than using original blade. Have it and I just LOVE IT. Thanks for sharing this very useful information. My favorite blades is 45 and 60 degrees angle. Works very well on my Cameo 2. My friend who owns Curio device, also agrees with me that cut from CB09 are much more clean and precise. About blade height adjustment, just use original one for reference. I begin to adjust blade height manually just a little less than original one and then, I'm just adjusting thickness in program to ensure good cut. Begin with very little blade height, and add more, when you can't reach good results by tweaking thickness in program. I have made several tests on different materials, and now I can very easily adjust any blade for different materials in 10-15s. And I like CB09 adjusting level capabilities MUCH more than original Cameo blade, that has only 10 positions. Just get good quality CB09 holder, and use common sense.

Thanks for the detailed instructions on how to adjust the blade for cutting. I am sure it will help a lot of people trying to cut with the CC09 blade. It can be tricky if you don't understand how to adjust it.

Do You know if the plastic blade holder locking piece is removable? Mine looks identicle to yours. Seriously the metal does NOT want to seat into the holder~feels to big

Wow, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am trying to cut foil card stock that I have added double sided adhesive to. I cannot get the setting right on either blades. It just doesn't cut through the card stock down to the adhesive. Have not tried CB09 and ratchet blade. I may purchase a deep cut Silhouette blade and try this. Any thoughts welcome.

It may be just too thick to cut. If it can be cut, the CB09 blade should do it. Or even the deep cut blade.

What is the brand name of your blade holder. It seems to fit very well in the Cameo 3. Also has a number dial.

There really isn't a brand name. I does matter who you order your blade from. I ordered mine from ebay. There is a person by the name of joycelijane that I ordered mine from. The numbers are just a print out. I think there is a link in one of the comments below for it. Thanks for watching!

I use the 45 for most things. If I have a thicker material I will use the 60.

Did u use a spacer ring with your CB09 blade holder?? I have had NO LUCK getting this to work inmy new Cameo 3 :(. I feel as though it is so hard to put into the jolder I am going to break the plastic? Feels like DIAMETER of metal is TOO BIG??!! If i can get it to cut; it will not cut cleanly through vinyl-Oracal 651. Where/what Co did you buy your CB09 holder from??

The spacer ring is only used when there are drag marks on your paper or vinyl. If your blade is too big, I would not force it. I do have one blade housing that will not fit. The one that fits I got off ebay from a joycelijane. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your comparison of the two blades. I have a cameo 2 that I use the cb09 blade. I have to spread the housing holder apart in order to get it to sit in the housing. I just got the cameo 3 today and find that I can't get the cb09 in either holders of the cameo 3 housing. When I order a new cb09, how can I tell if I am ordering one that will actually fit the new cameo 3? Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

I did a lot of research and found a seller that sold one that fit easily into the holder for my second blade. I also sanded the first blade down so it would go in without spreading the holder. It is the one I keep for vinyl only. The second one I bought, I use for card stock. I find this easier than trying to adjust my blades. On time I did not notice I had the one for card stock left in and it cut my vinyl fine. I did hear a couple of ladies state that they did not change their blade depth, just the pressure. I of course try to change out my blade holders according to what I am cutting. Don't want to waist my vinyl.

So can the cb09 blade fit on left side or can it only be used on the right side? Wondering if I can have two cb09 blades instead of the automatic blade. Thank you for posting this. This is what has been holding me back from upgrading.

You can only use the cb09 in the left side. The right is only for the automatic blade. Also, you can only use the cb09 blade if you have a blade housing that slips in without spreading the part that holds your blade. Mine slips in easy.

After doing some more checking on this, I think you can use the regular blade in the auto blade housing. You would just need to set it to the rachet blade in the settings. Hope this helps!

Have you tried cutting fun foam on your cameo 3? I have the original cameo and I can not get mine to cut foam. I heard the clearance on the new cameo is higher and it should cut foam easy. Will you please consider doing a demo. I would love to see it cut words similar to the thicker words you can purchase from the store. Thanks in advance! xoxo Glo

I have my auto blade an CB09 blade in. How do I get to just cut with the CB09 blade and not the auto blade.

When you send it to be cut, you have to change it to tool 2 to use the other blade holder. Your lines of the design should turn from red to blue. That way you will know you are using the other blade to cut with. If you need, I can do a quick video on how to do it. Just let me know. Sandy :-)

Jessica, The label did not come on the blade. It was a file I found on a website somewhere. It really never helped me to adjust my blade. You would have to have your adjustments right for it to work. I have two blades, one for vinyl and the other for card stock. I compared the blade length to my silhouette blade for both. I just cut a lot of scraps unitl the adjustment was right for each. It just takes time to get it right. I am glad I did. The blades have a very nice cut. I did have to turn my Thickness down to an 8 from a 10 in the Silhouette vinly settings. Not sure if every machine will need this or not. I wished I could be of more help.

Thank you. I have my cb09 in the right side (blue side) but what do I put the settings at? whatever I put for the blue holder it automatically puts the same for the red holder. When I sent it to the cutter, it cut with the autoblade instead of my cb09.

The right side does not auto adjust, only the left side. I adjust the setting for the auto blade only. Doesn't matter really what the setting is on in the software for the right, it will cut the depth that you adjust the blade to manually.

I think I need to clarify. I don't want to cut with the autoblade, yet that is what my machine is doing. I only want to cut with the cb09, but I can't find in the software how to stop the autoblade from cutting.

The Cynergist I think I might see what you are talking about now. You will need to click on the object to be cut and select the manual blade. The outlines should turn blue instead of red. If the lines are red, it will be cutting with the auto blade.

Hello! Thank you for all videos you shared with us. Can you, please, tell me if is worth it to buy the Deep Cut Blade? Or it is ok the CB09 blade. I generally cut cardstock, foam and maybe thin felt. Thank you.

Mica, I have never tried the deep cut blade. I would thing the CB09 would work. I normally cut card stock and vinyl. I also cut stencil material and it works great.

You will need a blade that fits in without any trouble. I had to sand the edges of one blade down to fit and it took a lot of sanding. The other two fit fine without having to sand them down. Each blade was from different sellers.
