Just a quick video to show some of the overlooked parts of the Silhouette Cameo 4 cutter. Roll holder, hidden storage compartment, loosening and opening the autoblade, moving the cutting head, and using the built-in straight edge cutter.

FYI the hole to the left of the mat is also used to adjust the ratchet blade that cannot be set automatically. Some people prefer to use the ratchet blade instead of the auto blade.

I know this is an older post, but: your info is GREAT! Others out there are telling people that the "Camera" / Optical sensor is used to adjusting the blade by tapping "into" it. I'm new and just got my Cameo 4 (I'm coming in from a 42" US Cutter and multiple 3D Printers), and found your video answered all the questions I had since getting the machine yesterday. I thought I "broke" my blade as it went from 5 down to 0 while playing around, then realized it CLICKED and the numbers moved : your video was perfect and I wished I had seen it yesterday instead of "freaking" out thinking I broke the blade already, LOL!!! I did notice that the vinyl almost "clicks" or "fits" between those 2 guide lines at 0 & 12 (but I definitely will be looking for that 3D print and make one here to test). Keep up the good work! I appreciate the positive response, and glad that the video was helpful. I have a USCutter machine as well. It is nice, when I have large format jobs to do, but I honestly like the Cameo a lot better, overall.... so I use it as much as I am able to. As far as the 3D printed guide is concerned, it is personal preference. I honestly made it, because I had others complaining about things not lining up, or looking lined up but getting off track, over a 2 or 3 foot project. I agree with you, in that most of the time, it nicely slots into where it is supposed to be. I almost never use that 3D printed guide anymore, but it's a nice tool to have, if I need it for a specific project. I picked it up on Thingiverse, and edited it ever so slightly. There were a few to choose from on there, and I'm guessing more, since I made mine roughly 2 years ago.

To purchase it? I'm not sure. I've never looked for it, as far as trying to purchase one. There are a few versions/variations on 3D printing sites to make them. I modified the one that I made, slightly, before printing, but it's basically the same as any of the ones available.

I’m just starting out with the Cameo 4. I don’t even know where or how to perform the test cut. 😢 I bought it used from Facebook marketplace although she said it was new. It was not in the original box, and it only had the power cord and the auto blade installed in it. It was so noisy when I first turned it on. I’m trying to figure out how to connect via Bluetooth. Oh my goodness!
@Richard97402
@Richard97402 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the style of stepper motor used (same as most 3D printers) are noisy. The test cut is just a button on the send panel. I don't usually do the test cut option, personally though. I use a small character, letter, etc, and cut it as a test. I don't use Bluetooth. I hate connectivity issues, due to Bluetooth, and didn't want it to ruin any of my work, so I only go wired.

Can you link me a place to get that 3D guide? My roller bar came at an angle that Silhouette won't acknowledge help for. So it grabs my material and yanks it in on an angle which sometimes crunches the material up so bad I have to stop it. I'm hoping this guide will help with this misery as the machine is new from December 2021 and people want to see my make stuff. Since I am a new crafter, how can I with this problem? I have tried. Thank you for any and all help you can give me.

It depends if you want the file, so that it can be printed, or if you want a completed part. The file is readily available, for free, on Thingiverse. I just looked up "Cameo 4 Mat Guide". If you're needing a made part, it looks like there are quite a few, on Etsy, for around $3. Based on the problem that you're facing, I'm guessing that the little guide won't fix the problem, but for a couple of dollars can't really hurt to try. I just searched "Silhouette cameo 4 guide" on Thingiverse. There are multiple to choose from, depending on what you'd like. Then printed it on my filament 3D printer. I stopped using it, personally, but still have it, in case I want to use it. I do enough different materials, and variety of projects, that it felt like it was getting in the way too regularly, so I removed it. It can be helpful, though.

There are multiple sources for the manual. It is available through Silhouette Studio under the "help" tab. It is also available as a PDF, if you do a Google search for "Cameo 4 manual" or "Silhouette Studio manual" depending on what is wanted. I started with skim reading through the manuals, and then just jumped in.

I don't know how to help you, if your machine is not powering on. If you're still under warranty, they'll likely replace your machine. If it's not under warranty, they'll still try to fix it, but there would be cost involved. I haven't experienced any real problems with my machine, so unfortunately don't have much advice to troubleshoot that. It's usually just a matter of plug it in and it works, unless something has broken.

Mine lights up saying silhouette cameo so how does yours light up saying cameo?
@Richard97402
@Richard97402 Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the lit name across the top of the machine? The Cameo 4 says "Cameo" and the larger versions say, "Cameo Plus" and "Cameo Pro". The Cameo, Cameo 2, and Cameo 3, all say "Silhouette Cameo" but I don't believe any of those light it up. If you mean something different, then I would need clarification.
