I did the 2017 solar eclipse and recommend the same BUT used my not so famous and least reviewed lens the FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Full-Frame Telephoto Zoom Lens with Optical SteadyShot. At 240mm you get a center of image at size that will give also stars in the image from beginning to end of eclipse as well as from 24mm and up say 35mm and 50mm for some land foreground to get what it looked like a person on the ground so you will be zooming and out during the 4 minutes of eclipse. The two sides of the diamond ring are very large and the 240mm capture will fill the image as it's glow is very large and again you will have some stars that will be still seen in image. Lastly clean and preclean your sensor and the back of the lens glass this last part you will have very large blotches that will be very hard if not impossible get rid of in post. Remember to remove the the Solar filter during the eclipse for you will have a diamond ring texture circle around the edge of the image, but that maybe my fault not having a closer to lens Solar Filter and having reflection from lens on the Solar filter. Remember this will be longer at 4 minutes so you do not want your aperture fins to burn up making dust in side the lens requiring an expense inside cleaning.

Hi, thanks for posting this video. I have an EF 400mm lens, with an outer diameter of 160mm. Will my lens fit in that filter? Thank you.

Just wondering.. is there a bigger size for a bigger lens? I have a 150-600 with I believe a 95mm thread size. Or would I have to just put this one on and just use it as is and crop out the edges?

Yes, this would work on a 95mm filter size. The lens in the video had that size and worked well. Like we mentioned in the video, be sure to cut the foam smaller than you think you need so it is a snug fit. We have seen some people use duct tape or shipping take to tighten the box of the filter around the lens incase of wind. Hope this helps.

Will this work with a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/4 G ED lens? Or do you use a drop in solar filter?
