Have you considered something like the Atmoshue 1/4" female thread to hot shoe adapter to rig out your Ulanzi GoPro cage. Not tried it, so it might be poor. In principle though could attach to side cold shoe mount and then to quick release of your strap clip. It'll add weight, but could easily be removed by thumbscrew when not using. Means you could attach GoPro with cage and tripod to your strap. In theory...

Ok, your editing skills are mind bending, we know that, stop flexing, I'm hard already. The thing is I just realized, and I actually really mean it this time, that full frame has too much toneh. Too harsh sharpness fall off. In that first shot it looks like you're in front of a blurry wallpaper. The toneh. It's tooooo unifooorm. It's 1 blurry af in the foreground 2 Supersharp 3 then the same amount of blur til infinity and beyond Me no gusta. It makes no sense to me visually. And spiritually. Maybe I'm just that BMPCC OG fanboy though, who knows. Loooove yoouuuu!
@BackusCreativeImaging
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
The maximum amount of toneh is literally the biggest "camera conspiracy" made up by marketing gurus to sell expensive lenses and Kasey has fallen for it hard. I've used MFT since 2014 and will never use full frame for that reason and many more. I still remember Kasey's video when he saw Tony Northrup using that 50mm f/1.2 at the lake and was genuinely traumatized by the excessive toneh, now he's just like the rest: monkey see, monkey do. No independent thought these days. What if I told you that I rarely shoot wide open even on my (considered slow) Panasonic 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 lens? Here's a video I just shot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KpZYVtbrN1aa8 - Most shots were at f/8.0, some at f/6.3 and some even at f/11. Sure, some wider aperture when zoomed out such as maybe one shot at f/4.0 in low light at 100mm but I don't prioritize "maximum toneh" even on a prime lens, although I do tend to be relatively close to the maximum aperture. I prioritize proper white balance and exposure; having an extra stop of aperture in the wings allows me to double my frame rate, keeping shutter angle constant and then simply opening my aperture 1 stop without needing to double ISO (or if in AEL with shutter priority, that all happens automatically ... but the KZbin gurus don't even know anything about the true power of AEL). Or leaving me some leeway to expose under trees properly. The VND and mist filter RED, Arri and Apple ProRes noobs might be confused but yes, I don't use VNDs. Don't make me throw up. Stop buying expensive lenses just to put VNDs on them. I use proper NDs that don't introduce polarization. Mist / highlight bloom is easy to achieve in post and you have way more control. I'm probably one out of maybe three people on the planet who bought the PolarPro BaseCamp Matte Box and use only regular NDs in 1 to 6 stop increments, doubling up to two at a time (5+6 for example) for up to 11 stops. Math is not that hard, especially when your know your f/stop chart in 1/3rd EV increments. Stop putting trash on your lenses. Don't get me wrong, a little toneh is nice, I have the Panasonic 200mm f/2.8 on the way (primarily for better low light, the inevitable extra toneh isn't the primary reason) but that's all I need, no more toneh. Rant over. Anyways, the beauty is mine and without maximum toneh, dare I say it, you can actually see what's in the video. I also didn't use a white card or even the luminance spot meter; I meter with the cinema camera in my eyes. I call it "perceptual exposure", but it's inspired from many things I learned and combined, such as the Zone System in photography developed in the 1930s. And no joke, color grading the VLOG-L footage the entire video was shot in took 10 minutes (since it was exposed within a 1/3rd EV error range of middle grey in VLOG-L) with my custom PowerGrade in Davinci Resolve featuring my ultimate Rec709 approximation LUT (without tone mapping) I made (manually of course) with the DSC Labs ChromaMatch Pro color chart, after lots of experimentation because even Gerald Undone videos didn't cut it for me. I had to figure it all out by myself :)

Hey, just passing through but heard something you may find interesting. After talking with a Pansonic rep, I was told that the latest Sigma zoom (50-600??) when used in sync stabe on the S5ii, and presumably other panasonic FF bodies, only engages vertical and horizontal stabilization on the camera body if the lens stabilization is engaged. Ie, stabilization sync works, but cuts out the waving motion, or so it would seem. I didn't have time to ask him much more, like which if any lenses do the same thing.. but maybe some of the wider third party lenses you love so much also cut the little waving hand off at the wrist as well =) When you test this, please give me a shout out, or at least shout at me by name. I could use the bump. Peace, and out.

I don't understand why you want 16/9 sensor. That's only good for photos not video. The closer to square 1/1 sensor the better your stabilization is. Just imagine what happens when the camera rotates or tilts. The 1/1 has the least amount of cropping. The 16/9 has to crop much more to stabilize which means the 16/9 sensor will end up not stabilizing as much so it can keep the resolution. The 4/3 sensor is the best compromise please no 16/9 sensors I need my stabilization. The only purpose of 16/9 is photos. All I want is 240fps super stabilization 4k phase detect and the 4/3 sensor is the answer

@AoyagiAichou

Just to throw in some S5ii(x) explanations: the S5iix almost certainly has additional hardware (controllers, faster internal data buses, etc.) that allow it to do all the things that the S5ii non-x can't even with the paid upgrade. And the upgrade is paid probably because having this feature in your camera as a manufacturer means you pay licence fees to the lizards squid alien demons from Apple. The blacked out design may be practical, but I agree it doesn't look very good. The lack of lenses really does my head in though. It's a young mount, unfortunately.

If that is the case, then I feel like the S5 II + upgrade should be cheaper than the S5 IIX.

I think the lenses are actually pretty good, though. The first-party f/1.8 primes are great, and Sigma has all the other stuff pretty covered, including portable lenses (contemporary f/2 primes, 28-70mm f/2.8) and pro-grade lenses (24-70mm f/2.8, ART primes). The 18mm f/1.8 is particularly a lens that no other mount has. Honestly, the only thing it's missing is Tamron. I honestly prefer Panasonic's first-party primes over Sony's, though Sony has better zooms.
@AoyagiAichou
@AoyagiAichou Жыл бұрын
@@mbvglider I agree, the paid upgrade doesn't make a whole lot of economical sense. People who know want that should just wait for the S5iix. As for missing lenses - besides the 20-60, Panasonic has just made bog standard lenses (and sometimes making them even more bog standard by using the same housing - I do understand the advantages though) and the longest lens they have is a cheap 70-300. Sigma is great for cost and sharpness, but that's it, really.
@AoyagiAichou

@@AIP404 What makes you think tele or super tele is used only for wildlife? And besides the brand new Sigma 60-600, there are no superzooms or at least something like a 24-200, no tele primes. Lenses they do have tend to be expensive and fat. Sony, Canon, and Nikon all understand that compact and affordable lenses are desired nowadays. Panasonic is still in the "anything for optical quality" phase.
@berkertaskiran

I think they're just milking. That's the only explanation for two very similar cameras. It's not a coincidence that they do this when they make decent AF. It's kinda pathetic tbh. They offered proper codec even with GH4 and now they make this BS. We must demand internal raw video for all cameras and instead they give you All I in another camera like it's a solution for anything. My freaking phone offers raw stills and they can't offer a proper codec in their 2000 USD camera? Let me tell you, lower end bitrate 10 bit All I, isn't even very good for grading and professional work and they choose to hold that back. It is easy to do camera reviews. But if you wanted to take a camera for travel (so we are talking small body size, low weight and may two lenses that do it all for general travel) that don't put you off going for a walk with all the equipment and more importantly look inconspicuous with it (before some tries to grab it off you) - what would you take? Micro 4/3 is off the - GH6 has a massive body. Any full frame is way off. Maybe you are going to say the Sony X3000 - but remember they don't make that anymore. I have had the Sony RX100 VII - totally unusable and sold it - as you can't see I thing in bright light either on the LCD or via the viewfinder. I think I found my solution - but I am not saying here right now. I do have amazing video and photos from my trip though.

Quality over loudness. The music world is already ruined from overcompression and maximizing loudness… killing subtlety, dynamics and realism, not to mention harsh on the ears and causing fatigue.

His "ProRes" won't even look as good as my regular LongGOP recordings because he doesn't know what he's doing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KpZYVtbrN1aa8 - You can benefit from ProRes if you do green screen work needing precision, but for most web work or independent work it's not necessary. It doesn't take long to make proxies from H.265 footage in Resolve with quarter resolution. ProRes is just an intermediate codec, All-I mode produces the same results at a practical level, but the scrubs see "Pro" and they go crazy, just like when Sony slaps on "Cinema Line" to mediocre cameras and the scrubs eat it up. Like what was said in the 2011 documentary "Empire of Dust", I'll say the same: "it's all so tiresome".
@BackusCreativeImaging
@BackusCreativeImaging Жыл бұрын
@seeyouseemee3863 I said "same results at a practical level", notice the word "practical". If you get your exposure and white balance right in camera, you don't need as much latitude in post. Learn to expose right. That also means I can color grade a video like this in about 10 minutes by tossing on my custom PowerGrade in Resolve because everything was shot correctly in the field: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KpZYVtbrN1aa8 - I use the cinema camera in my eyes to properly meter subjects at the middle grey target. I'd say I do a fair amount of post processing. I make my own conversion LUTs manually for cameras (such as LOG to Rec709 approximation with no tone mapping) using a DSC Labs ChromaMatch Pro color chart. I denoise using Neat Video. I sharpen in luminance channel of LAB color space. I control tone mapping myself along with highlight rolloff and highlight bloom (only scrubs use mist filters) in post. Anyway, my point was and still is: ProRes and All-I are over rated for "most" web and independent work. It's not necessary if you know how to expose shots. Obviously I know denoising is better with say ProRes over LongGOP, but at an everyday practical level it's not, for web and independent work. Go watch the 32 hour color grading course for Resolve on Udemy, the dude had to fix Arri RAW footage shot by noobs who don't know what they are doing. He'd have loved my LongGOP footage since it's shot correctly. The motto is: learn how to use the camera. I'm not saying these higher end codecs aren't useful (they are better than LongGOP), but I see scrubs not knowing what they are doing then relying on higher end stuff without really understanding exposure. That's all I'm saying. It won't compute I know, but I tried.

which path should i go for? sony zve10 + sigma 18-50 2.8 --> fx30/ next a6xxx flagship or fuji xs10 + sigma 18-50 2.8-> xt4/xh2? my main uses would be for filming myself for social media (dance) and also travel films. so most of the time i'd be trusting the camera with focusing when i film myself outdoors. imo i love fuji but idk if the autofocus will be able to keep up with my fast movement while i dance and want that blurry background for a shot. since this is gonna be my first camera, i'm mainly looking for 4k 30 with good AF and color science. let me know your thoughts!

The issue with the X-H2S is that it is more of a photography camera than it is a video camera. Just look at how they have set up some the features: setting ISO obliterates the histogram, only one auto iso can be set and it can not be changed or tied to the frame rate, etc. The list goes on and on. I believe FujiFilm has the hardware to make this a great video autofocus camera--the XH2S has 2.2 million hybrid phase detect autofocus pixels and contrast autofocus pixels. So many reviewers talk about Kaizan but do not understand what Kaizan even means. What Kaizan means is small, incremental improvement. And that is exactly what firmware 3.0 is. A small incremental improvement--very small. What FujiFilms needs is Kaikaku--radical change. Because only radical change is going to make the improvements that FujiFilm requires for improved video autofocus.. What FujiFilm needs is to get a new team of individuals to work on video autofocus to make the radical change this camera requires. But as long as we have these photographic fanboys at FujiRumors fawning over everything FujiFilm puts out then there will be no incentive for FujiFilm to change. The sad thing is, I don’t think FujiFilm even knows (or cares) how bad video autofocus is on the X-H2S. They pat themselves on the back and say look, were better than we were with the X-T3 and X-T4. While they are better, the other companies have made improvements that have eclipsed FujiFilm. Why is a 4 years old A7SIII still better way better with video autofocus than less than a year old X-H2S? I got at an X-H2S at a price well below market price as a friend that was disappointed in the autofocus and made the move to Sony. However, this will be my last FujiFilm camera. Others interested in videography should follow suit. That is the only way the message will get sent to FujiFilm. Because their modest improvements with version 3.0 is truly an insult. Look we have drone and insect subject detection. Do they really think they are fooling anyone with these kinds of statements!

"Slow Mo" is for idiots! Use software to slow the video down, if you want to watch paint dry! The low light performance is the key for any camera/lens, except for cameras, which are specifically designed for daylight, like the best zoom camera Nikon P1000! Here is a conspiracy for you: the Sony a7S is the best camera for low light because it uses pixel binning! The senser is not 12 MP, as Sony lies, but 48 MP with pixel binning! When Sony turns on the pixel binning, that's the second ISO base, and that's why it gets much cleaner! You see, with pixel binning smaller pixels into a big one, you get the same brightness as the big pixel, but with much less noise!

You know, within 8 years smartphones will be able to produce some sort of open gate files, 8k or bigger. 10 bit or higher... then edit software in combination with AI and probably expensive plugins will be able to simulate DOF so well that you can have plugins that emulate an ARRI! Mark my Words!! But before that, camera's will behave more and more like smartphones which "have" to. be updated within 2 years! Really, mark my words, your perfect camera will be software!
