after all these mentions of the x3000, I was too lazy to see what you were talking about and now I know I ALREADY HAVE ONE : SONY ACTION CAM. I also have the water-proof case for it AND the cam-corder case which gives it an articulating fold-out screen. YEP! I ended up using my phone a lot more than it even though it was better but mostly because I lost the action cam for a while, then found it. but I used it on my rc airplanes back before drones really came out (that I could afford). worked like a champ. the one thing I didn't like about it was the fish-eye lens

Hey Kasey, I want to ask you about white balance while vlogging outside with Fujifilm cameras, do you set Auto WB so that it adjust automatically or do you lock it using "Auto WB lock" ? Or do you use white balance presets like Sunny WB etc. ?

Tip to keep the dust away. When putting the camera away in the bag or pocket, place it in a ziploc style bag, squeeze the air out and then seal the bag. Or if you have hardcore OCD, carry a straw to suck the air out of the ziploc before you seal the bag. If static bothers you, then try the milty zerostat 3, I don’t know if vloggers use it, but widely used by music lovers to clean the dust/static from vinyl/records

I totally agree with you about the X3000 being better than the ZV-1 and the ZV-E10. The X3000 simple to use and has got that remote gizmo, so you don't even have to reach to turn the camera. Whereas by the time I've got all the settings right on the ZV-1, the battery has gone flat!

Glad you finally got another X3000. I got a solution for the menu system. Buy another X3000, one for regular motion, and one for slow motion. I don’t see Sony upgrading the X3000. It will hurt their sales of their regular cameras. Don’t get rid of this one.

I'm vlogging all over Mexico City right now with the Sony X3000. Released in Sept 2016 I bought it new in spring 2021, now over 5 yrs since release, discontinued, and seemingly not going to be replaced sadly. The picture is good enough (no GoPro cartoon colours), and the audio is WAY better than GoPro (actual stereo l/r audio) for better atmosphere. It will suck if/when I'm forced to replace it someday.
@donflamingo795 Жыл бұрын
Nice to see that you have returned to your root and not blinded by the way of toneh. But I have to agree, the X3000 is without a doubt, the best blogging camera Sony ever made. Now if Sony can give us X4000 with same stabilization, 4K 24,25, 30,60,120p 10 bit footage no need for log file (let's be honest, they won't add log profile at something cheap). Better internal audio (Sony definitely can do that). USB C charging.

I have a great Kuala Lumpur story for you Kasey. I once lived in Hong Kong. This is circa 2013 or so. Booked a flight into Bangkok and out of Singapore with this romantic idea-I'll travel down the peninsula over my 12 day holiday. Well skip ahead. Met some people ended up in Phuket. Somewhere there I had scratched my wrist on something. With 2 days left, I took a 24h bus ride from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur, stopping in Hat Yai. Over the course of that 24 hours, a darkened line of skin originating from the scratch was growing up my arm (on the inside!). Every time I woke up on that damn bus ride I would see that dark line further up. Up up up into my arm pit beyond where I could see it. I get dumped into Kuala Lumpur at 4am with only Thai Baht, no Ringgit. Because I'm an arrogant moron. Within this swarm of taxi drivers in the middle of the night, I find this one guy who will take double the amount of the regular ride but in Baht. Okay. I'm good. He's good. To my single night hostel so I can get 4 hours of sleep before my flight later that day. After a slight ride he pulls up on the side of a road, restaurants on the right open and surprisingly busy for 4am. I argue with him, "Hey just forward and left. I want to be dropped directly to the front door." He argued he would need to do a turnaround because it was 1-way, etc, etc. In a burst of surrendered frustration I jar open my right-side door (Malaysian's drive on the left), throw the money at him, and... Smash. On a small, dark side street with restaurants a [male] motorcyclist and [female] passenger smash into the taxi door and collapse to the street. The taxi door is very bent and broken-the taxi driver is out and yelling at me. I run up to the motorcyclists to see how they are doing-scratched and bleeding the driver stands up and starts yelling at me. I'm being apologetic. Here is where things turn. Four young men from one of the restaurants notice the commotion and come up to me. They put their face right in my face and start lightly pushing. My mind is at level 9 or 10 at this point thinking, "What the f&&k; is this really happening?" I know they want me to start a fight as a simple excuse to beat the piss out of me. "I'll call this cops," I say. Think to myself, "John... in Malaysia this may not be the outcome you're looking for." I shut up about the cops. After some more shoving it happens. I find myself picking myself up off the ground. I had landed on my knees, and they were bloody. I'm disoriented and the anger is increasing. Again I find myself picking myself up off the ground. They are smashing me in the head with a motorcycle helmet from behind. Motorcyclist still there. Taxi driver still there. From the 10 I was at-and I will tell you this is my one and only experience with survival panic and adrenaline-I went full berserk. I was fucking yelling, hopping, telling the taxi driver if he didn't get me the fuck out of their NOW I won't pay for his door. Yelling at the motorcyclist, who in the world of irony was the MOST sane individual of the entire experience, if he didn't get me out of there NOW I won't pay for the damage. Somehow it worked. The taxi driver and motorcyclist, he left the woman behind at the restaurant with the bike, took me away. And this is where the evening turned flashes of memory. I remember I could not understand how to use an ATM. The motorcyclist had to do it for me. I ended up paying like $200-300 for it. Next thing I know they are both yelling at me to get out of the taxi. "Where are we?" "We're at the place you told us to take you." I am again in panic wondering where they have taken me. I realize my thumb is in the Southeast Asia on a Shoestring Lonely Planet guide and I had them take me to a hostel in the book. The motorcyclist helps me into the hostel. By now it's 7am and there are people slowly waking up in the hostel. I sat myself at a bench in front of the checkin desk and wept. Everyone who came up to me wondering what was going on, I never acknowledged. Eventually I checked myself into the hotel, got 2 hours of sleep, walked and took a few photos of the Petronas Towers. Booked a new flight to Hong Kong from KL and got the hell away from there. My doctor (a day or two later) in Hong Kong as so concerned with the possible head injury. I kept asking about the line growing up my arm, and he kept saying, "The lymph nodes will get it." Laughing. A year or two later, never having been back to Kuala Lumpur, my girlfriend cheated on me with one of my own friends on a trip they took together to Kuala Lumpur. For years I held a grudge for the place, and honestly still do.

That's what I'm talking about. If Sony will listen to this and create an upgraded x3000 it would outperform gopro's, osmo's and other smartphones that all give you unnatural colors and stabe. I'm impressed, the colors look natural to me even on cloudy day. Yes!!

We love ours and live in fear we may need to replace it! Audio works well with a small wind muff, and colors look good (both so much better than our GoPro 8). Stabilization very good, though do think gopro better. Almost never over heats (it does if using in 4 k for 30 minutes on the the dash of a car in the sun). If they added a 1 inch sensor it would likely be the only video camera (really this is a mini camcorder) it would be so close to perfect.

Man the X3000 sure is a little champ, what a great small cam :D looks fun to use and the audio is surprisingly good even if the wind muff on it just looks like it has its own little stache 🤣 it's cute though. I agree with what you say in the video, i was filming my coffee stuff with my GX850 but the autofocus was all over the place and the microphone was borked (static noise and shit) so i had to use an external microphone with my phone and the microphone was on its other tripod next to the main one with the smartphone just resting on it ready to fall and just fuck everything up. Of course had to sync up audio and video too in post and man was it such a pain in the butt. Got the ZV-1 after all the vids i bingewatched before buying it and couldn't be happier to make little vids and going outside just filming stuff again :D Thanks for all your vids man.

The X3000 punches way above its weight. The image quality, sound, and color science are all much better than the phone and action camera competition. Stabilization is also great. The X3000 actually has better color science than the newer Sony cameras, unless you did a miraculous job editing in post. This is the camera you never should have stopped using. Don't you dare send it back. Welcome back X3000 🥰
@andrewcoleofficial Жыл бұрын
Yes, and in 2023 that's what made me buy one of these. It literally costed me more than a gopro hero 12. But here's what got me: I've never seen such good color science in my life. And I've been spending the last 10 years learning video productions. I'm blown away by the accuracy of the white balance in this little 2016 gadget. It's truly an anomaly of a camera.

Sony could put 2 of this thing together, and give it the new menu system and some new processing chip, let the computing AI do the Toneh work in real time video. I wouldn't mind double the thickness with bigger battery, dual lenses will help stabilisation as well. Kind of insta360 camera without 360degree shooting, maybe 180 is enough.
