Sony is very smart actually by not giving us the perfect camera... this way we buy their latest "almost there" camera every 2 years... this cycle will only break if there's actual competition. Panasonic is on the right track I feel. Now that they got their act together with the auto focus, they could release a better vlogging camera (something like the G100, but with better IBIS and their new auto focus for example). And if the big boys don't do it, DJI might swoop in at some point....

Amen! I miss my x3000. I dropped it a couple of years ago and shattered the lens. I sold it on ebay "as is" for parts. No GoPro or DJI action cam has yet to live up to what the X3000 was or even could be if Sony would dedicate time to it. I loved the form factor, the mic input, the hdmi out, the stab, everything about it.

The popularity of vinyl records doesn’t prove that either, most people are buying them for the experience of owning something tangible (myself included) and the tonal warmth. Analog mediums (especially tape) are by definition lower fidelity, especially after many replays. Note that I said lower fidelity, not less pleasant. For example: I’m still shooting film, have been from 2006. My A7III and companion lenses beat all of my various film format setups in the IQ departement by a landslide, but my most used camera is still a little fixed-lens 35mm camera. Point is, manufacturers follow the market. They’re in it to earn money, please their shareholders, continue growing. In most instances you can safely presume that a company will axe a line of products because it hasn’t brought in [enough] money. And it seems that the blinky party speakers, did.

Instead they bring out cheaper products with greater profit margins and make people feel like losers if they don't buy them. Cameras have gone up incredibly in price but there's no innovation. The manufacturers are still cashing in on old research, which should allow them to drop the prices but they increase them instead. The reason people like vinyl is because they need a real amp andvreal speakers again. Vinyl can't be loudness mastered, either, because the stylus can't handle it. That means that vinyl will always sound better than highly compressed digital files that are played through cheap earbuds or blutooth speakers. Of, course the industry already fooled people to get rid of their hifi systems, because blutooth speakers were the new thing. So they get to sell a lot of new hardware again.

I’ve been working in photography retail for a long time, a lot of young people are buying disposable cameras or old film cameras for the lifestyle image. In my opinion the same is happening with vinyl. I’d be interested in seeing sales figures for a well known band on vinyl vs streaming numbers.

I used the combo of the x3000 Action cam and FX53 for several years and I loved how both has amazing BOSS IBIS and you could control both of them from the FX53 for a multicam nirvana situation. Sadly after wait ing a long time for Sony to update them I had to move on. GoPro 11 and and S5II is my combo now. I miss the multicam part but everything else is a huge upgrade.

Hopefully, they'll develop a x4000 for you. That would be cool. I have a zv-1. I like it, but I don't do the walk and talk vlogs. I use it for talking head stuff and a 3rd camera at weddings mounted on a light stand with a small-rig clamp. It's great for that.

I've mentioned before that I keep putting my x3000 back into focus after filling dropping it. Open it up and push the ibis around from all sides. Should fix it. Use hdmi out to see it. Also trying to turn off/ on all stab moves to get to back into focus.

Like many others we still use our x3000…but it may be starting to fade; the stabilization doesn’t seem to work as well as it used to. That said, it works great and stab not bad. GoPro stab is definitely better, but the audio not nearly as good and still like the look of the 3000 best! Largely given up on a x4000 😢

Totally agreed the X3000 was ahead of it's time! I think part of the problem is Sony's trying to make hybrid vlog cameras that also serve as photo cameras. My RX100VIII is a great little camera for what it is but it overheats in 4K after about half an hour (depends on the weather) and the battery life isn't great. If they went back to a sensor that's only big enough for video allowing some crop to stabilize the footage and abandoned the camera having any photo capabilities it'd be great for you guys. Maybe a 16 to 35 equivalent lens. I could see a company like DJI making such a product using Sony sensors, they seem to still be quite inventive. Their latest wireless mics are a big hit, just need to increase the quality some but brilliant design.

SONY pleeeeeeeease listen to this!!! I hate that I have to use a GoPro now. I loved the x3000 for street/travel vlogging. An X4000 that can film 4k without overheating and making the glued on sensor loose it's focus is all I want! A flip out screen would be nice too, but if you can't manage that I'd still buy it. Also, fix skin tones on vivid color mode so I don't look like a tomato 🍅 please, and thank you. Also, I don't want to have to color correct, I just want something that looks good straight out of camera, like the neutral color mode on the hero 10.
