Yes, there are many old cameras they up to date. For a long time all we were looking for was sharpness, sharpness, sharpness. Once we had it, we realized, that the cinematic life was lost. Just cold and without emotion. Therefore my tip. Even something as old as the Sony FS 700 is a great film camera.

Consumer products have a lifespan of a couple of years, true professional tools remain good for way longer. Proof 4K is largely a marketing ploy and not really as useful as manufacturers try to make us believe

Truth is I'm okay with 1080i to 1080p. 4k will reveal details you don't need to see and even ruin the atmosphere of old films and shows.

Nice video! There are some other classics. What about the Canon C500 Mk1, the F5/55 ans the Varicam 35?

Weird commentary, as if 4k is in some way necessary or even a big step on anything but paper. 1080 is plenty IMO, sure I have much higher resolution screens but for watching a movie it really makes no difference IMO except in very rare scenes on extremely sharp shots in some movies. Yes I have tested, with tons of people, also A/B which is 4k, which full HD and not one could ever reliably tell. 2 out of 10 could if they specifically looked for it and had a scene with thin high contrast features, that's it. So 4k is BS for the most part in the sense that it doesn't add much if anything to the experience of watching a movie.

You're right. But for professional cinematography, 4K is quite helpful(post production).

The only 1080p camera that I've came across that can easily upscale to 4K delivery is the F35, because it had that 5K CCD sensor with 12bit 444 output. Sure, 4K is not necessary, but it does add another level of immersion on the right screen (ie. not mobile).

Actually it entirely depends on viewing distance, which you haven’t clearly addressed. There is also a relationship between resolution and perception of motion blur, which is a reason higher resolution (and higher frame rates) are desirable for fast-paced sports.
@noth606 Жыл бұрын
@@watchvideosoul I mostly tested using a 49" at 7-9' distance mostly, but the distance really doesn't matter contrary to what you said, the size of the screen relative to your field of vision does. I tested 1280x720, 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 "4K" to be specific, from 720 to 1080 is easy to spot, to from 1080 to 2160 much less so

4k matters a lot for deliverables too. I know a lot of the shoots I we have to keep crops for socials and websites in mind for certain shots. Without 4k a lot of commercial/product shoots would get very complicated/way more time consuming

You forget one which is better than all these 4 cams you mentioned. The Sony f55

@@camerazone_ Oh sorry actually all four of them. Most recently being the F35. They all have their ups and downs, but they all produce a unique and film-like image. You can find footage from all of them on my channel!

@@DanielTroyer I loved my F35. The closest you can get to film with that global shutter CCD. It was just too heavy for my usage though. I kept waiting for someone to take it apart and make a smaller/lighter body for it but it never happened. But speaking of global shutter, I think my next "old" camera will be the F55, prices have gone down a lot. Edit: By the way, your 2022 reel is awesome, great work!

Hmm… maybe one should know what the international cinema Projection standard still is? It’s not 4k, my friends. It’s called a DCP (digital cinema package) and it’s in… 2k

What??? Old camera??? AHhahahah!!! The digital cameras is old and die after 3 years! Not good, only garbage! I working whith REAL MOVIE HISTORIC CAMERA: ARRI 35mm BL EVO. Perfect end ETERNAL (The BL used in "The Shinig" and in this moment is perfect works). 35 BL is a REAL Movie Camera! The digital cameras is only camcorder. No Film and not durable.

I love film but who wants to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars per finished minute? Also, film emulsion doesnt look as stylistic now as it used to. It is too fined grain and looks like it is trying to emulate digital when people used to do the reverse. I love film but I am likely done with shooting on it.

The Arricam 35mm is the most popular camera at the Oscars this year. So apparently people with the budget!

Mmm. Yo tengo una Red One MX, y se ve muy bien para sus 17 años. 4.5k todavía no se quedan cortos para una sala de cine.
