Idk if he reads these but Cameron Carpenter, as a young adult about to go to college for music composition, i must say hat you have inspired me more than any other performer I have ever seen. The things you have shown the organ to be capable of have helped me to fall in love with the instrument, never stop playing. I'm sure you don't need to hear anyone say that though. Thank you for all you have done and all that you do. -a big fan

He brings to mind the wonderful show pianist Liberace. Cameron in my humble opinion is a truly great organist but has sadly fallen into the commercial trap of pleasing the masses. Lang Lang of the piano world springs to mind. Now with both I feel if they bring more people to the world of organ or piano then this is a jolly good thing indeed. People like me who are purists should shut up and simply hope that those brought to the organ or piano may begin to learn and appreciate the truly great players of these king of instruments. Although my toes curl while listening to Cameron I have to bare in mind that many people who would not normally listen to such music are indeed enjoying his skills. Pray hope they begin to understand why I do not think he is really that good. Learn more about what he is doing and please go to concerts of deeply respected performers. Thank you Cameron for bringing this music to a wider audience.

BTW: For Glenn Gould's version, he didn't use the pedal clavier. Hands alone. Which makes Gould's separating of the voices quite remarkable.

This is not correct. Glenn played the pedals. Where did this uninformed rumor come from?
@PointyTailofSatan4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewgohring7625 He did use them, but very rarely. He simply wasn't very good with pedals, which is understandable given he rarely played the organ after his teens. I know this is the case with with his Art of Fugue recording.

@@super_organist«I’m a classical organist myself…» That’s great! Then we know the compostion both of us. But are there any reasons for the virtuoso organ player C C to dropp the tenor part in the exposition? And why did I believed that you belonged to the ignorant masses? Because this is an answer I got earlier: «He did not dropp anything, just changes stops».

As an organist myself, I have to acknowledge that Carpenter's technique is beyond comprehension. But, IMHO, i have found feeling, heart, depth lacking in his playing. This is to be expected at his age -- reveling as he should in his hard won technical accomplishments. But I have wondered -- and I look forward to -- what his extraordinary talent and hard work might sound like as he matures. The exuberance of youth is part of the journey. Some performers get stuck there -- will Carpenter grow past that? To me this performance is a very hopeful sign that he is taking the next step of moving from putting his extraordinary abilities in service of Cameron Carpenter, to putting them in service of the Music itself.

This is a wonderful piece of music but Cameron Carpenter is just ruining it so that he can show off his technical skills. This is not musicianship, it is showmanship. If you cannot see what I mean, listen to Helmut Walcha playing Bach's The Art of Fugue. as a comparison.
