I have coarse, dry, curly hair and have been using brylcreem for over a year. It is wonderful, by adjusting the amount you can control the shine, yet it always keeps your hair moisturized and easy to manage.
@BillyWidener6 жыл бұрын
Glad you said it! Brylcreem does rock. I use that stuff in High School in the 80's, and it does give an excellent classic and natural pompadour. My hair was just like Gene Vincent hairstyle. Anyway, good video, man. 👍🏻

Hey Cameron. I'm wondering if you've done a hair care video. Although there are many hair types I'd like to be pointed in a direction or inspiration from your point of view. Like how often you shampoo, if you shampoo, favorite brands etc.

I got my royal crown in the mail today and in the few months I’ve used pomade now I’ve tried a lot both new and classics , royal crown is maybe the best classic pomade I’ve tried so far, I’m a huge fan of light hold pomade and the 1930s and 40s so low height and slickness is my thing, black and white is on a solid second cause it locks into place kind of , like rc but royal got to win! Mostly for that intense shine and low height but a light pomade u don’t need to recomb often? Got to love that....and the amount u getq😅😅😅 the boys in memphis really know How to sell big amounts! Both rc and b&w😍😍

Murrays Super Light is probably a more common alternative. You get about the same shine with it
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. They roughly have a very similar hold and styling performance, but Murray's SL has better shine and much easier washability. RC though, has a better buildup and more product in a tin. Each have their own advantages compared to the other but are relatively similar, good base standards for each other.

Hey Cameron, I've got a question for you. Should I still condition my hair daily when using a pomade? Or should i skip hair altogether in the shower?
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
Adam Canada Pomade keeps your hair moisturized so there's no nees to condition unless you want to degrease. If you are an oil based pomade user, I suggest only rinsing your hair (no shampoo) every day, and once a week, degrease. Do this by putting a deep cleansing conditioner in your hair for at least 15 minutes, comb some of it out, rinse it off in the shower then shampoo as normal. A lot of pomade should come out and shampoo again if necessary.

In Germany we have a light styling cream called „brisk“ i guess it’s kinda similar to the groom & cream except it looks more creamy and white. Btw. This is the oldest styling product that is still in production today.
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
Dominik Pracht In my opinion, it's more similar to Brylcreem (which comes in a tube in the US) but Brisk isn't really shiny. I actually did a review on that. Groom & Clean actually looks like a blue gel

Liking the beard man. I got some beard envy. Anyways, I like dax wave and groom. It's one of my favorite products when my hair is a bit shorter, but right now it's gotten a bit, uh, poofy. Black & White... I liked it at first, but it doesn't seem to work well for me for some reason? Maybe hair's just way too thick. Royal Crown... has never once worked in my hair, and it is the pomade, not the hairdressing. Groom & Clean is alright but I haven't needed to use it in a long time. Brylcreem is also quite nice, but again not the way my hair is now. Way too light for my thick, curly, poofy hair. Basically what I've gotten from this video is that I need a haircut.

Man, Cameron. You made go full inside in pomade world and i owe you that. I think you should review of Murray's Exelento (the axed yellow square can). That's definitively a real classic (speaking of classics on this vid) i think i deserves a chanche because it's a very underrated pomade. Anyway, just a suggestion man. Keep on grease.
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
john marston I did a review on that and currently my video on that is the only one on KZbin. One of my favorite light-mediums and one of the shiniest out there, good control and subtle buildup. Performance-wise it's the same as the one in the purple tin except that it has mineral oil and smells better.

Asian Greaser wavy and thick but fine
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
Mikey Condry You'll definitely get some wave action but embrace that. If your hair is fine then I think it should be alright. Anyway, you're doing a contour and your hair sounds relatively long so it should be alright
@pomadesandpomps6 жыл бұрын
Mikey Condry Anyway, Brylcreem isn't so expensive so it's not much of a sacrifice for your wallet. If Brylcreem alone doesn't make the cut for you, you can always use it as a topper or degreaser.

pikeboy 123 I actually changed my mind last month and decided that hair creams like Brylcreem are really just unorthodox water based pomades with a super light hold, so we could count it as that. Provides instantaneous hold with a shine finish and for a slicked and tight look

The comment about these being "good starter products" suggests that you have a bias about water base pomades. I don't see water base pomades as an advance over oil based pomades. The shine isn't as good as oil based pomades, they're more expensive, loaded chemicals, and dry out the hair, leaving it lifeless. There's no advance with water based pomades. They're basically gels with oil mixed in for shine, and quite expensive. Basically you want people to advance to a lesser product by steering them into expensive, chemically laden gel/water based pomades, which are inferior to oil based pomades
