Any lights since the down pipe I have a 2014 ST I have a high flow res 3” cat back no muffler. I’m in NY State so the emission inspection is great.

Late af but the front can you removed was a muffler, I literally contacted MBRP about it for clarification. The resonator is welded to the over axel pipe. For anyone wanting to do this the best route is to get 2 3x18 exhaust pipe extensions and 1 3in butt clamp. Cut 10in off of one and clamp it to the uncut 18in section. That will give you a 26in muffler delete pipe.

The stock exhaust is a cat back with no splits so it will need cut before you can take the res-box off

In the UK/EU we are being smothered by new emission and noise regulations. Engines are getting smaller and are being soft limited to keep the noise and emissions down when stationary. I've got the previous mark of ST (2006) and the sound its 2.5T 5 cylinder makes with a decent exhaust is deep and rumbly with pops and burbles while the newer ST sounds high pitch in comparison. Its a shame America missed out on them, you guys would of loved them.

This is almost a hard mission to DIY a whole delete and take it to straight piping for old ford focus versions because they don’t have bolted exhaust system parts. For a UK resident straight piping an old focus version is hard because you always gotta pop the stock exhaust back for the Annual MOT vehicle check which might fail the emission test without a muffler.

My plans are to get a tune from FreekTune and get the Thermal R&D Catback system. I have zero desire to go straight piped. I prefer a tuned sound over loud and obnoxious. These cars get plenty of attention as it is. Positive attention IMO wins out over negative attention and making the cops hate you and want to fine you for loud exhaust or exceeding decibel limits.

you should always get it tuned if you do anything to the exhaust, youre messing with how much air the engine allows to escape so its important to get it tuned

I love the Focus ST but I'm sorry there's just nothing you can do to make that 2.0 ecoboost sound good. I like in the UK and used to have a MK2 ST and the 5 cylinder in that used to get me hard! It will never compare. Shame you's never got that car over in the states.
