It's not that the Cobb maps are trash It's that they were created on a car that had no carbon buildup, because 1) the car was new; and 2) Cobb cleaned the carbon buildup, as buildup begins to occur with just 5k miles. The state of carbon buildup determines how much power you are making, up to 100hp loss, and therefore you either need to adjust your tune down to make less power or you clean the carbon buildup. Full power with absolutely clean carbon buildup, have at it with all cobbs maps. Not clean, go cry in the corner 😢. It's your problem, not anyone elses.

I recently got a gen 1 ms3 and had a bad missfire but almost in new condition, it came with a brembo front brake kit and a cob cai kit. The miss fire was cyl.3 and after doing some parts changing and diag found out it blew a hole in the exhaust valve, which led to buying a new head and did a timing job and afterwards changing a bunch of old sensors that showed its age, i found out cyl.3 takes more abuse then others as it hardly gets much air versus the others with the stock i take manifold. Found out arguably the best and most cost effective mod is the focus st intake manifold which has far more flow but also has true equal flow to all cylinders. Secondly i upgraded pcv baffle plate as there known to cause issues as well from daemond motorsports, also got a corksport metal turbo inlet pipe with cobb cai which makes great induction noise but less restrictive. Changed and replaced the turbo with another stock unit and upgraded the oil feed bolt to the smaller port variant which helped greatly and doesnt smoke at all, i also upgraded the turbo studs to titanium studs for the hell of it. Deleted the balance shafts and installed a baffle plate which holds more oil then stock which is a plus. Changed the oil filter assembly to the a canister setup which makes maintenance easier but also adds more space underneath in the engine bay

what does a pro tune mean?
@copperkeyracing61672 жыл бұрын
Its mazda talk. Sounds stupid. Is stupid. You can interchange the word pro with custom. The tune/map/program that is in the factory computer can be changed with an aftermarket programmer, like cobb accessport. The maps that come with an aftermarket programmer are called basemaps or flashes or off-the-shelf (ots) tune. Basemap is the best word IMHO. You start from a basemap, then you customize it to your car. Hence basemap is the preferred term, and custom map/tune is the preferred term. Don't get bothered by this, it's a bunch of dummies that first started playing with their mazdaspeed3s back when the car was new, and that stuck with those dummies. Now, we all suffer. I was there, owned my mazdaspeed3 for 11years now, and I did my best to change the terminology. Can't win them all.

@@TheRealMrRoyal It's mostly hype with those guys. They are really no better that a lot of other tuners. I've seen so many bad tunes come out of all three of those. @@burreto9225 No, they handle 400whp, on pump gas, that is all. After 400whp, you need to add 4 port injectors. If you run any mixure of pump with e85, then expect to run out of fuel sooner, maybe 300-350whp depending on the mix. Edit: back on topic. In the beginning days there were some fuel pump internals that failed, and those were returned and refunded. Some brands had more issues than others. After those initial batches, and redesigns, no brand has issues now, and they all handle the same amount of power.

It's actually the carbon buildup that makes these unreliable. Keep the carbon buildup cleaned as a regular maintenance item, like oil changes, and you will have years of trouble free ownership. @@copperkeyracing6167 i have an accessport coming in today, could the car handle the intake map with a stock fuel pump?

@@etb2896 The maps on the accessport were done on a car that had a certain level/amount of carbon build up. Unless you know how much that car had, and how much your car has AND they are exact... then it's safe... Otherwise, no, the stock computer will better handle the varieties of different levels of carbon build up that you might have. "Better handle" doesn't mean your car won't blow up if you have carbon build up and you are on a stock computer. If you are running an accessport map, you are more likely to blow your engine with carbon buildup. Even if you have a customized tune/map for your car, the accesport maps are made to run at a higher risk of blowing up your car. Don't run accessport, if you don't know the amount of carbon buildup you have.... and preferably NEVER run accessport unless you have NO carbon buildup at all.... or your Zoom Zoom is all Boom Boom all over the road.

@@etb2896 As for having an intake. Get a Cold Air Intake. Any open filter intake under the hood, is WORSE than the factory intake... and the factory intake is HORRIBLE. On a Civic Type-r, the factory intake is sooo good that nothing aftermarket outperforms it, not even a cold air intake which is known to be the best. The only thing you can do to a CTR is put in a drop in reusable filter, and that may give you 1-2hp. The Mazdaspeed3 intake has no fresh air pickup like the CTR has... which means, that a cold air intake results in a 20whp gain.
