Having calm waters obviously benefited everyone but removed one variable so you can see straightaway that you were on it very quickly. Yep, the turns do seem a very dark art - your 180 turn in the side by side looked massively better than the 90s in the trial. To my untrained eye, the 1st you really sent the blade deep in attempting to hold the boat up stroke side whilst powering on the bow side but this really killed any boat speed and massively upset the boat taking longer to settle but in the side by side you didn’t go so deep and it looked a lot more fluid? I would have thought that as long as the spoon is covered it will act as a brake but if not going so deep the boat is a lot more stable and extraction will be much cleaner and quicker. The last race seemed to be very deep again. As you say it’s not gaining time on the turn but minimising the time lost. I’m sure a lot could be gained by having a launch or drone filming and sessioning numerous 90 & 180 turns in some lively water would bring you a lot closer to the opposition 😎

Definitely! Potentially a case if trying “too hard” to turn rather than almost letting the momentum help

Is it mostly locals at each regatta, or are you usually seeing the same faces each time?
@CameronBuchan4 ай бұрын
Each one will have some locals and then most of the same faces too

Im confused on this whole race. Whats the reason behind running into the boat and running away?
@nathansmith71534 ай бұрын
That's the way the rules are. Something like the Australian surf racing

What’s the reason behind any race format? Adds a little bit of variation!
