Hi Cameron. The "incorrect" thing is that KTuner not "piggyback" the ECU. It will allow you to overwrite the stock parameters within the stock ECU. Piggyback is a different thing. Also TunerView is not just for the headunit. It has a separate Android Phone app that has more feature and you can keep the headunit stock. You can upload 5 tunes to the V1.2 too, and you can flash it with the TunerView app without using a laptop.

You can also use a phone on a windshield mount via bluetooth for tuner view...do not have to hack your headunit to have Guages with V1.2

I think it is a matter of preference. I like the V1.2 best for me. Sluggish operation of Tunerview does not bother me as I rarely have to operate it. Also I don't like extra displays and cable hanging down. Each to their own.

I just bought a black 2020 civic SI sedan and I was thinking about tuning my car to get rid of rev hang and I was on 2 step performance website and seen both the 1.2 and 2.0 versions and wondered the difference between the two and came across your video. you don't have to have the v1.2 always connected to the obd port, just load the tune to the ecu and then you can remove the v1.2 from the obd port.

I’m surprised that there aren’t tunes pre loaded on Ktuner. On the accord, we have stage 1 and stage 2 preloaded on any Ktuner. I have V1.2 bought for $350. We don’t have the Honda hack for the screen on our accord but V1.2 can connect to an android phone and show you what v2 does.

I went with the 1.2v but although I have an iPhone I opted to just get a pre own phone with a big enough screen with decent quality and run the screen features through there instead of doing the Honda hack in the head until which I heard it bugs out a lot. Also some people buy cheap android tablets but I didn’t wanted something too big ether but there are plenty of options, my biggest grind with the 2.0v is that it needs to be plugged in at all times in order for the screen to work from what I read.

Got a question for you, I just bought a 2017 si coupe. It’s got: catless dp, front mount intercooler, full exhaust, intake, short shifter. First off, is that your stock head unit on your 2020 si? If not I’d like to know what it is the audio in these cars is so bad. Also, how much am I REALLY missing out on if I get the v1.2 instead of the v2?

You should position the Ktuner in front of the rpm cluster in your 9th gen , even for the 10th gen

Loved the comparison between the v1.2 and v2. Just wanted to say that multiple tunes can also be loaded on the 1.2, you just need the tunerview app to be able to load another one. Side note, I got my 2020 si around the same time as you and have been following you since. Keep up the good work!

uhhhh yea you could if you wanted. just don't floor your car below 3500 rpm, let it warm up before getting on it, and I honestly would recommend using rev hang because it runs very rough with rev hang off

Is the v2 a direct plug in play system for an 8th gen or will the Ecu need sent out? I know my brother had to do something for his 02 rsx type s, but I can’t recall what it was, In the end it would have been cheaper for him to go the hondata route but he wanted to run ktuner because of the screen, but was just curious as I now have a ktuner but have not looked into it much yet until motor gets back from builder, I got an amazing deal on it ($200.00) so didn’t think I went wrong with it, just not sure if it’s plug and play for my fg2 or if the ecu will need sent out, any info is much Appreciated, thank you in advance. Hey Patrick. You have to use a windows computer to register and set up the v2, but after that, you will not need a computer to flash tunes to your car. I already have a video tutorial on my channel of how to set up the v1.2 and flash a tune to your car, and will be making a video next week of how to do it with the v2

go with Hondata if your car supports it. Ktuner came after Hondata. In every application I've seen, Hondata has more things to adjust. That being said, Ktuner is a simpler software imo. The real big thing for me is the support & community. Ktuner has virtually no tutorials, walkthroughs, or support, and no community compared to Hondata. Their forum is garbage; admins give half-assesed answers that give you more questions, and there aren't many Ktuner users on the forum, so you only get half-assesed admin responses. I've probably watched/read more Hondata tutorials to learn to use Ktuner than I've watched/read ktuner tutorials. If you get ktuner, expect to teach yourself, and expect to get frustrated. Also, Hondata is seemingly always upgrading, whereas I've used Ktuner for 3 years on 2 different applications, and O can't say anything has changed.

Flashpro outdoes Ktuner in the majority of instances, particulary for End user tuning (which Ktuner didn't get until a year after Hondata Flashpro was out.

Hey Cameron, did you need to jailbreak your ecu for ktuner? I have a Type R and have been told it needs to be jailbroken to be tuned compared to the SI which is plug and play.
