@inconsideratebox3000 Жыл бұрын
@@MeatyZeeg Tbh, during my gameplay, I have yet to fall for a glint decoy. If I were to assume that all players have the same ability to pick decoys out, I wouldn't go for it. To ruin the decoy, there's an easy tactic you can learn. When sniping, if you see a glint that quickly fades away, focus on it. If it comes back then fades again after around a second, it's a decoy. If you really can't confirm it's a decoy, keep looking at it, and if it keeps glinting then fading in a pattern, that's your full confirmation. I would never snipe a glint decoy even if you know it's one. Some snipers may want to remove those extra glint decoys so they can have a cleaner view of the battlefield, and that's a good idea, but I definitely wouldn't do it if you want to remain incognito. Simply shooting can reveal your position to prepared enemy snipers, and the more you shoot, the easier it is for enemies to confirm your position. This is because of some widely-known factors, such as muzzle flash and your own glint, but, even if you run a suppressor and a medium scope to fully negate those factors, smart opponents will be able to get a small glimpse of your bullet tracer and tell what direction it came from. If you're not too far away, then they'll likely spot you after a couple of glances. All in all, reduce your shots as much as possible, it keeps your position anonymous for longer, so I also recommend letting decoys stay. Only time I say to shoot them is if you're another class and go for a flank then find these decoys. Remove them for you snipers and they'll definitely appreciate it. To round things back to using the decoy, idk if I'd recommend them since I have an easy time picking them out. But tbf, I am unaware of the general potence of the community's spotting skills, so if some of you find success, decoy away. Maybe I'm overestimating the community's decoy-confirmation abilities.
@idontwanttopickone Жыл бұрын
@@inconsideratebox3000 I agree. The decoy would be more effective if you have an option to change its rotation speed or even it's flash settings. I think the decoy would be better if it was directional and had a custom flash setting. Spinning means it's common for your own team to start shooting at it. Making it a single direction (maybe only visible up to 45° wide max) would mean that as a sniper you'll have to choose what area of the map you want to distract and you'll have to move your decoy occasionally. But, the main issue is the glint going through walls and bushes. Until thats fixed, long range (1km+) sniping isn't possible or that fun. In the games currently broken lens glint state the best way to use the decoy is to set both of them down on a ridge behind trees. So they are almost on top of each other. This should look like someone moving around as they look down a scope. But obviously it depends on the timing and they soon get shot at. You also can put them on top of whatever you are using for cover or on the other side of whatever you are using for cover. So when people see your glint they'll have to pick between the two sides, which will hopefully give you the chance to get the kill.
@idontwanttopickone Жыл бұрын
@@Drawfillsniping with a buddy or two is the most effective. I've had some great games where I was sniping (I think Sandyset - I think thats the maps name, has the best sniping in the games current state, with the scope glint through trees, aka "the flashlight waypoint") and the things that have got me killed is when I'm dealing with a pair of snipers together, who aren't sitting in an obvious sniper spot (not on a crest of a hill or the highest point in the map - get yourself some cover!). I can kill one very often. But rarely both without having to pull back or getting killed myself. You don't get much of a bonus for being a spotter, sadly. They could probably fix that - but I think the glint needs fixing first. But, if you are going to pair up, you're much better just saying the location of snipers while you snipe. A single 1000+ meter kill is worth way more points and far more useful to your team than tagging the enemy for a buddy and getting a tiny amount of points. You can both tag and do callouts while sniping. Better for your team if you are both sniping and trying to get kills, and reviving each other when you get shot. Also great if you are part of a bigger squad and position yourself so they can spawn on you to flank the enemy (easy points for you and more than what you'd get from spotting). You can also use your squad points to call in an air drop for you two. Which makes the drop more worthwhile. Happy shooting!

To counter scope glint broadcasting your position on long ranges, you need to conceal yourself by hiding behind an embrasure. I like placing two barriers/sandbags next to each other and shooting from the gap between those, or use a pickaxe and make a small hole on a wall to snipe from. But keep in mind that a pile of sandbags in the middle of nowhere with shots coming out of it is an obvious announcement of a sniper's nest anyway, so make sure to use natural cover as much as possible if you're sniping from the wilderness You should also be at the maximum distance you can be from that shooting hole/gap. That way, your glint should only be visible to snipers you are actually looking at, and no one else. You need to move after every shot, but a single step to the side so that the one you just shot can't see you can be enough. You can then take your time finding another target until your previous target gets distracted by something else, and you're safe to shoot again. If your previous target were dead set on finding you... well, good luck. They'll keep coming until you die then.

If you're in a good sniping spot that doesn't hide you, I suggest building two sandbags/barriers where they're at an angle to each other, but not touching. This gives you a slit where you can shoot from, enough space to cover a wide area (due to the angle of the covers), and makes it harder for enemies to hit you unless you're already looking at them. Can't put the barriers too close to each other, the game will make it so you hit the barriers even if you're aiming between them.

One thing to know and this is me being a dumb for thinking of Battlefield 4 where I swapped for the DMRs and dropped the bolt actions, you can do that in battlebit but just know despite being automatic, there is a lot of recoil so don't plan on rapid firing on the first few goes until you get the right attachments for outstanding control. If you played Battlefield 1 long enough to say scopes are for losers then you are well enough to use medium range scopes also medium scopes of course have the case of "No scope sway", so overall better. Now a tip, if you are someone who plans to go out in the middle of no where by yourself, bring a bundle of explosives, claymores or antipersonel mines, claymores specifically, place these in areas behind and around where you plan on pitching a tent, these can act as your alarms, as once you hear an explosive, treat that as your cue to move, chances are they decided to make you their priority and already know about your traps, oh and no music listening, sure its tempting but you must choose explosives or music, not both because they sort of will cancel each other out. Another tip, if you are a rising amateur sniper, two things in a target, head shot entrenched targets, body shot targets who are in active combat such as moving a lot while shooting down lets say some sort of hallway, yes most likely you will injure them but they will be at death's door step, but another thing, once they are looking around for that painful mosquito, stop firing and instead focus on headshots solely, because if to many are focused on you, then they are not focused on the active combat force.

as someone who grew up a faze kid and moved to battlefield maining snipers. REALLY GOODD VIDEO. you could have talked about the pros and cons of different vests for ammo and mobility. i would be surprised if the medium range scopes don't get a sniper glint at some point in time. i have pushed consistent headshots well into the 500m range with the acog. personally i have never used the zeroing mechanic in any game. however it is really useful a those longer ranges. i just find the faster that you can get a shot off the better. spending that time zeroing with a glint is just asking to be shot in the face. sometimes if im going against another sniper who i think is better than me ill just spam shots down range and flick to targets while barely being scoped in. don't give the enemy time to line up their shot. especially when i have to ads after moving and they are just staying scoped in. i have to ads and line up my shot in the time it takes them to just line up theirs. Stand still as little as possible always be strafing and moving unpredictably. that is a tip for any class. if you can bait out a snipers shot you can use the time it takes for them to rechamber another round to ads for yourself. minimize the amount of angles you can be shot from. again another tip for any class but with how tunnel vision snipers inherently are it really helps. i try to be standing every time i take a shot so i can crouch down quickly or prone to dodge enemy bullets.

I find that the long range optics are good for taking out a stationary target... Aka another sniper. If you want to play "sniper hunter" grab a long range scope and advanced binoculars. Find your target with binocs, zero your rifle. Aim and fire, swap back to binocs - the last thing they'll see is a brief scope glint from 1000m away and a moment after a bullet takes their head off. You'll piss off snipers who will quickly reposition, die, or start looking for you to send a bullet your way. I do this type of sniping specifically to amuse myself. If you want to turn the tide of a battle go for a medium zoom scope and pie off areas like you're a police sniper, picking off people who peek too far and slowly making it safe for your friends to take positions.

The glint appears even through foliage and some cloths, meaning you can see them, but they can't see you. Using this method I've hit 1500m+ headshots with the medium scope on the regular. Not to mention that if you're in a bush or behind one of the few cloths on the maps, it makes you invisible to long range snipers. I can barely stay alive for more than 2 min and here I am watching a video on how to snipe. My main problem is peaking, you stick your head up for less than a second and die. I get why they have scope glint but I feel like it needs fixing, for a start it can be seen through walls, secondly I think it should only be noticeable when someone is looking within a certain angle from where you are.

learning about zeroing just made me want to snipe even more

By default holding Alt and using scroll wheel can also range your gun.

Tip 1. Unequip the scope, people can see that you don't need that shit. it also stops you from needing to hold your breath.

Zeroing is easy, I just wish they added the objective distance when you put your reticle over an objective. Additionally, they should add the ability to reset zero with a button press.

Matches where 50% of the team thinks they are playing Sniper Elite and doing 3/10 whole game aren't fun for both sides, at all. And this happens a LOT now. 5 minutes into the conquest/domination map and after one look at the class distribution you already know if that will be a loss.

This just brings me back to what I said to some friends. Sniper glints just shouldn't be in games.

Irl there is an actual attachment to keep your scope from glinting. Also, since it's the only weapon in the game that can achieve a 1 hit kill I think it's pretty balanced
@antonbengard4221 Жыл бұрын
I actually wish they'd make sniping harder, like intentionally made to be tedious. Then not as many people would play it, and we wouldnt have sniper hell with half the players on that class every time a map has even the slightest space without a building. To balance that, make the glint an occasional thing that flashes once every 10-20 seconds instead of all the time. Then it's easier for snipers to hide (which is really what a sniper is supposed to be all about), but they're less oppressive overall.

10:15 Just a big tip i got from 20h of play time, don't lay on top of the biggest rock you see, you are like a sore thumb there. (Obviously there are exceptions)

If you know how to use medium range optics you really don't need long range scopes, I've hit 1000m headshots pretty consistently using a rangefinder and zeroing. It's actually so fun

Focus on counter sniping and you’ll be great. snipers really let you get a feel for the entire map in general. Counter sniping shows you spots that are often overlooked and puts you in rewarding situations. If you can send accurate shots from a not too common spot you gone be lit.

> re-range your scope to 0 meters mmm, no need boss. Most sniper rifles shoot flat all the way out to 300m (the default you shoot at at fresh respawn btw) easy without adjustment. Beyond that, you'll want to play that ranging.

Alt + Scroll Wheel to zero your scope. Also medium scopes have near zero scope sway, basically don't use long range scopes unless firing at 700+ meters, and don't spawn at your friendly sniper with a glint scope if he isn't using one, you will give away his position you ass. Also, the medium scopes have diferent zoom levels, 4x zoom for the x32, acog and burris. Use the x32, its the best 4x scopes. And use the ranger barrel to hit damage breakpoints, snipers have a 1.9x headshot multiplier. And players can have 100, 112, 125 or 137 head HP (no helmet, helmet, heavy support helmet, exo support helmet). The m200 with the ranger is the only one that can 1shot the exo support.

Nice job pointing out the importance of repositioning when you're on a streak, as well as silhouetting which I always call "sore thumbing" (because you're sticking out like a sore thumb). You don't always get those tips in videos!

Think the largest map allows for 2kmish at max, and getting 1,500m+ shots is another story, people can actually dodge due to how long the bullet takes to travel.

I am on OG BF3 sniper with lots of kills. The sniping in this game just feels off. You cant really be aggressive with the sniper because strafing and sniping doesnt really work and your bullet completly goes off. Also it takes forever to switch to your pistol so its even more difficult to be an aggressive sniper...
@jaywerner8415 Жыл бұрын
Speaking of Scope Glint, is that what the Binoculars are for? Like the Glint only happens when your Aiming down the scope with 6x or above so you have the Binos to "find targets" before shooting. You can also ZERO the scope by holding Alt and using the mouse wheel.

I kinda hate sniping in this game. Granted it’s good once you get non-long range scopes and a range finder I’m sure but the fact those are all progression locked and if you came in later you’re now going against people who do have those upgrades makes it painfully bad to get to that point. So it’s less bad mechanics and more that progression based unlocks make it really painful to grind through those early advancements simply because counter snipers will constantly be raping you as you try to get just enough kills to unlock a somewhat more even playing field.

every time I have tried sniping, I get fudged by the barrel being below the scope. Always hitting stuff in front of me it seems regardless how far away from it i am, I have to full peak in order for the bullet to go where the sight is looking

Alternatively, get good at building. Play long range maps. Use x20. Get 1-2k points per kill. Not the best exp, but I consistently get 50-70k points per game on good maps
