Firearms instructor here. Camila made the right choice by staying put and choosing to hunker down. Trying to clear your own home is a TREMENDOUSLY stupid idea. Moving to a defensible place and digging in was the smart thing to do. This is exactly what I teach in my classes, Camila's dad taught her well. Because he didn't just teach her how to shoot- he taught her how to think rationally under stress.
@Omicron99992 ай бұрын
Yep. It's a dumb idea because you don't know who or how many intruders might potentially be in your house, or whether they're armed with something worse than a pen knife. Even though you know your own home like the back of your hand, it's easy to get blindsided by someone hiding around a doorway or in darkness. That's not even getting into what can happen if you're nervously checking for any sign of movement and then someone you know walks in the room.
@bebop_5572 ай бұрын
@@Omicron9999 Absolutely this, but also Camila was protecting her grandmother (which was a very brave thing for her to do). She didn't spend time trying to clear rooms, just sprinted directly towards her grandma and they hunkered down together. That is what you're supposed to do. Keyboard warriors can criticize Camila all they want to, but people like you who actually know what they're talking about? We know Camila did everything right and she acted very brave in the situation. As far as the other stuff goes? It's a good thing that the stalker had no idea what he was doing, because you don't use a sledgehammer on a garage door. You use it to smash the handle off a door (like the front door of the house) or smash a window (you don't hit the center of the window because that is the strongest part- you hit the edge of the glass). As far as hardening your home against invaders, some of the simplest things you can do is 3" case hardened screws for your doorframe and 3M makes a coating for your windows that will protect them from getting smashed in. These are things anybody can buy with a quick trip to the hardware store and it won't cause any issues with an HOA.

Iphones and apple in general I feel like are not very secure. Air tags work by basically connecting to any iphones around and just using your connection to send its location data to the iPhone the air tag is connected to. The iPhone also probably has a voice assistant and for whatever reason it misheard her asking for her location. To do this, she probably left her GPS turned on, on her phone. I always turn mine off when I'm not activly navigating to a location.
@shotgunmasterQL3 ай бұрын
@@talkingtakotaco8611 Yeah, I was thinking that she was obviously talking about "how this guy knew where I am", so the phone could have definitely missed a few words and just heard a sentence it interpreted of Camilla asking "where am I" or something. Still pretty damn crazy of a coincidence.
@D_YellowMadness3 ай бұрын
Phones should really have a rule that if you're in a place where you spend a lot of time not going anywhere, they won't state your location even if you ask unless you give confirmation on the touch screen by holding a button for a certain amount of time. After all, you're obviously sitting in a building or something so there's almost no chance it was triggered on purpose.

ALL of the men if the neiborhood took turns patroling outside her house for MONTHS. Down here there's not cops in this neiborhoods, so its more normal for creeps to be beat up and sometimes killed, and no one rats anyone out if the police comes.

for the people who need to hear it: you are a stranger to the streamers you watch. you may watch them and admire them, you may sub or donate to them, you may even meet them at cons; but YOU ARE A STRANGER TO THEM. if your reaction to hearing this is "yeah, duh" then that's the appropriate response. If your reaction starts with "yeah but ..." then you need to STOP AND GET HELP. what Camilla experienced is awful stalker behaviour, and no'one should be subjected to that.

Its very good she learned how to use firearms. And that she had a panic button and a robust security system. I hope she finds a therapist. Even if you don't think you need one, go. I had that mindset for a long time, until I witnessed a fatal car crash right into the bus in front of me while I was on my way to a football game. The person was nearly bisected, another dead, and the third extremely injured, but all my friends on the bus were just fine, thank god. It was the first time I had witnessed someone die in front of me, and it was extremely gruesome. I was in shock so at the time I felt really apathetic, but when I went to my college's counselor (all the counselors from all different campuses came to give counseling for the entire band), I just broke down and could barely speak for half of the session because I was crying. No matter how stoic you are, go see a therapist if you have even the slightest suspicion you might need one. Don't bottle up emotions.
