Babe is a 1995 Australian-American comedy-drama film directed by Chris Noonan, produced by George Miller, and written by both. It is an adaptation of Dick King-Smith's 1983 novel The Sheep-Pig, also known as Babe: The Gallant Pig in the USA, which tells the story of a pig who wants to be a sheepdog. The main animal characters are played by a combination of real and animatronic pigs and Border Collies.
Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (9 October 1835 - 16 December 1921) was a French composer, organist, conductor and pianist of the Romantic era. Was a musical prodigy, making his concert debut at the age of ten. After studying at the Paris Conservatoire he followed a conventional career as a church organist, first at Saint-Merri, Paris and, from 1858, La Madeleine, the official church of the French Empire. After leaving the post twenty years later, he was a successful freelance pianist and composer, in demand in France, mainland Europe, Britain, and the Americas.
The Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78, was completed by Camille Saint-Saëns in 1886 at what was probably the artistic peak of his career. It is also popularly known as the Organ Symphony, even though it is not a true symphony for organ, but simply an orchestral symphony where two sections out of four use the pipe organ. The composer inscribed it as: Symphonie No. 3 "avec orgue" (with organ).
Of composing the work Saint-Saëns said "I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again." The composer seemed to know it would be his last attempt at the symphonic form, and he wrote the work almost as a type of "history" of his own career: virtuoso piano passages, brilliant orchestral writing characteristic of the Romantic period, and the sound of a cathedral-sized pipe organ.
"If I Had Words" is a 1978 UK hit song by Scott Fitzgerald as a duet with Yvonne Keeley. It reached number 3 in the UK charts and number 24 in the Australian charts in 1978. It sold more than one million copies. It was also a hit in Ireland (number 9), New Zealand, Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
The backing was by the St Thomas More Roman Catholic School Choir in Chelsea, London.

Lyrics:
If I had words to make a day for you, I sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine
If I had words to make a day for you, I sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine
If I had words to make a day for you, I sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine
If I had words (If I had words) to make a day for you (To make a day for you)
I sing you a morning golden and new (Golden and new)
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine (Deep in moonshine)
If I had words (If I had words) to make a day for you, I sing you a morning (I sing you a morning) golden and new (Oh, golden)
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine.

I remember being very little and staying with my grandparents while the folks were off working. Everytime the farmer would dance at 1:52, my grandfather would dance along with him, even leap into the air toward the end as the farmer did. Even if he was out of the room doing chores, he'd find his way into the room at just the right time. He's getting very old now, and I'm much older than the young boy that watched him in awe. Funny how time flies by.

The joyous farmer's dance is the most wonderful spontaneous moment in any film ever made...absolute genius! Whomever chose the great C Major Symphony in the first place will always have a special place in my heart , and the perfect lyrics just top it all off! Saint-Saen would have loved it!!

When my daughter was in early grade school she would ask me to skip with her when I would walk her home. Cars are going by us on the sidewalk as a man very near his 40's skips with his daughter. How we will let our baby girls publicly mortify us for their pleasure. One day it will be her fond memory from the distant past as it is mine now. 😊 ❤

One of the most perfect choices of classical music for a story... it perfectly fits the sense of overwhelming, unexpected, yet so overdue triumph that the story celebrates... that euphoric sense that even the smallest, most unbelievable beings... the underdogs, the fools, the outcasts of this world who are ridiculed or never taken seriously... that they all each are worthy and completely more than capable of greatness as well as anyone. It's a sense of victory that is joyous but never overly pompous and ostentatious - it starts out in the horns section but then moves to the softness, humility and dignified quality characterised by the orchestra's string section. It's a melody and a choice of orchestration which in a way says that yes, you can achieve greatness with all the usual trumpets and fanfare, but you can also more importantly do it with softness, kindness and grace... all of which is exactly everything that Babe the character... and the film... stand for... Love it so much!

Even as a kid I knew the theme from Babe was special. It speaks for itself as immensely beautiful and triumphant. I was not surprised to learn eventually it was one of the best classical pieces ever written (do yourself a favor and listen to that ORGAN in the original by Camille Saint Saens!). Another familiar experience was definitely Sleeping Beauty with the Tchaikovsky piece :)

As a child, I never understood the story (probably cuz I was 5 when it first came out and was still learning english lol). Now that I'm older, I have finally not only understood the story, but also appreciate that such film exist for everyone. Everytime I remember Babe, I get nostalgic so hard 😂😂. It is among those that I remember and endear most, even though as a child didn't understand it too well.

as a proper classical music fan who usually doesnt like arrangements for films etc, i can say this is one of the best, some of you should listen to the symphony in full to realise the arrangers art, because as youl find out this melody only really comes thru in 2 mins out of the 38 mins it lasts lol :) us arrangers work very hard :)

I don't do feelings well, but after being reminded of this timeless masterpiece by Alteori just now, I started listening to to the music. And I gotta say, regardless of how it sounds, it feels like my soul is being recharged! I'm sitting on break right now listening to this; and I feel so alive and connected to the world around me, that I can't even bring myself to smash the gnat buzzing around my pie! The melody was not even an original by Camille Saint-Saëns, but from a madrigal by Franco-Flemish renaissance composer Jacques Arcadelt "Nous voyons que les hommes". Still his Symphony Nº 3 is a bombastic work worth listening to. The melody comes at the beginning of the last movement. Beautiful music in all its forms!

I used to play this movie all the time for my kids. They’re in their 20s now, and they informed me that they never cared much for it. I asked why they watched it then. Because YOU loved it so much!! BTW, the theme music is from Saint-Saens’s Organ Symphony.

I love this movie. It brings good memories. Sometimes I wish I could go back to be a child. Not worry about what is going on in our society. Children's and youth are losing their innocence very soon. So much hate in the world. So sad. I wish they didn't have to see the violence in their school or social media.
