CAMILLE - "There's No Party Here" (1988)

Camille Filfiley (Shea) was featured on the 1984 Deodato tracks "S.O.S., Fire In The Sky" and "Are You For Real". She released several dance records as a solo artist for both Island Records and MicMac Records, and sang background vocals on many others including, Angel Clivillés "Don't Tell Me 'Till Tomorrow", K7 "Come Baby Come", TKA "Are You For Real" (remake).

80s music was so upbeat and uplifting, the synthesizers, beats/drums and singing styles, and I’m talking about all music genres of that decade. I wish I lived it..I’m born in 1987 but damn I love that era!

This song beats many freestyle I heard in the 80s by war, It was not cheesy, nor generic, it has it own voice. The vocals, the beats were on point and it was the kind of jam that could move any crowd. The melody only would raise masses of shy people. Yes this would be in my top 10 best freestyle for vocals and beats. Most freestyle had either great beats ok vocals or great vocals lame beats, but here the vocals outdone the beats. simply amazing jam!!

Yeah most will say she sounds like a "black girl" and what we all mean is she has a soulful sound to her voice and the "way" she is singing. But after the late Teena M and artists like Taylor Dane we shouldn't be too surprised anymore. Camille looks sexy as hell. Yum. What talent.

Everybody on here is thinking the same thing I am thinking " dawn she ain't black???" take a chill pill bro, we are just music lovers. she is coming off as black because of her soulful delivery, makes sense she worked along black artists in the German funk group Shakatak, which explains the African-American Soulful influence. I don't mean to diss Latino freestyle, but I prefer freestyle sang by blacks in the 80s, it has more substance to it, more instruments and base, RnB met house perfectly. Plus this track has a garage-house vibe to it. Living in NYC you could not help but like Garage house,plus this track is very housy. Relax!!!

Camille was an amazing artist, this song a jam. Jimi tunnell had a weird voice, a bit androgyny like. I wish all freestyle jam had that much intensity and was not cheezy like most of them!!

lol! I know great freestyle my friend I was a radio Dj and music is my thing, great music I know. This is a particular type of freestlye, different from the cheesy ones made by the latinos up in NYC, it is Rnbish. The black freestyle artists made the hottest freestyle jams: look up Xena- on the upside, Shannon, veronica underwood- let the wall fall, lisa fischer- only love; Pure energy-one hot night. That's why I thought Camille was black, she sings like a black girl, with soul, I am black btw!
