I picture Camille as a college student studying at night, wearing a hoodie, her hair in a messy bun, taking a sip of coffee and thinking about her test. She has her goal for the future and all the sleepless nights will pay off, the mountain of books and scripts will pay off. And it did.

Camille is very impressive. Johnny Depp lost in some ways though because no one who watched that trial could conclude anything other than that he did actually behave quite badly with Amber Heard and that his use of alcohol especially, did contribute to that. However, he did come across as truthful, whereas Amber did not come across well at all though, and came across and very manipulative and willing to lie.

12:47 - This is what people miss. Those cross examinations are how you lecture the jury. You don't get to lecture the jury otherwise, outside of opening/closing arguments. 100% of questions must be leading questions. What separates Vasquez from the vast majority of others is that she actually follows that 100% rule and sticks with it. It's supposed to be ludicrously difficult to stick with it.

Lawyers and so-called "expert witnesses" are "hired guns" - long and short of story. They are hired by the parties involved in order to insure a positive outcome for their client. They are paid to win, and let's face it, were there any real "winners" in this trial? Could Johnny Depp really be considered a winner in this situation? This trial was about two people who, at the time, were very troubled within their relationship. Neither of them were "innocent." In a case involving alleged domestic abuse, media should never have been allowed in the courtroom. Vasquez, at times in this interview, refers to this trial as a negotiation. It wasn't. It was a litigation in which one side "won" and the other side "lost." Vasquez's cross examination of Heard made me cringe in it's rudeness toward Heard. I'm not saying a prosecuting attorney has to be soft or accommodating, but a show of basic respect would have been nice to observe. Ms. Vasquez speaks of the importance of visuals. Johnny was often seen chewing gum, smiling, smirking, and making smart remarks on the stand. The lawyer on Johnny's left kept exchanging words with Mr. Depp and the two of them were often seen to be smiling as if sharing a private joke. This seemed so unprofessional to me. Not a huge fan of this trial or of any of the players, although it certainly hurt the careers of some and boosted the careers of others.

In my opinion, Camille Vasquez does not act as a lawyer, she acts like a PR agent. Whoever was convinced of this clown show of a trial from both sides should ask themselves, "what do I actually know?" Their ridiculous play "Johnny is so cute and innocent and such a gentleman" and downplaying his dark side while exaggerating those of Amber only shows that lawyer firms seem to have no integrity and no sense of ethics at all. And the cross examination tactics: There should be actually a law preventing certain attitudes and tactics from lawyers that aim to make the person cross examined look bad / not credible before they are able to say one or two words. Both sides demonstrated this disgusting manipulative behaviour. It felt like a soap opera. Unfortunately, people can find a person cross examined even more credible or less credible simply by the way how the lawyer treats that person. It's their tone, interruptions, rolling with their eyes, giving a smirky smile. And Vasquez demonstrated plenty of that. Particularly this ".... , didn't you!" which aimed to come a across a a fact, rather than a question along with interrupting the moment Amber spoke, ensuring there is no rapport. You only do that if you have no hard evidence at all and bring the cross examined to defend herself and to stutter - and ultimately to not look credible. And personal verbal attacks such as "Amber is a person that burns bridges" is utmost unprofessional. Thus how I viewed it, this had hardly nothing to do with law and integrity and being right or wrong but had everything to do with PR. And from that perspective, the biggest mistake Amber did was not to bring in charismatic and friendly looking lawyers, and not to sit as close to the jury as team Depp and give them motherly smiles every now and then. Another learning is: a person will have no chance to beat a charismatic popular one in cases with no hard evidence. The privilege Depp had to take his time when speaking and even being applauded for that (at the same time scolding the lawyer who rightly complained about him taking his time), while Vasquez cut Amber off after seconds as in a b-fight. I am now even more mindful about how I form opinions and whether I am simply influenced by Charisma only.
