Very proud to see "kababayans" doing the Camino. My two children and I walked from SJPDP to Santiago from late Sep 2022 to middle part of Nov 2022. My daughter fed cats along the way, too. You probably passed me along the road for I walked very slow due to age (70) and traumatic injuries from a car accident a few years back. If you recall seeing someone or something close, it was probably me limping my way along, precariously on up hills and down hills. But I made it. We made it to Santiago on Nov 15. And am ready to do it again. Great job you guys! Can't wait for the next episodes. Buen Camino!

Kamusta kababayan! We are always so happy to meet other Filipinos on the trail. I'm glad you got to walk the Camino with your 2 children. We met another family in St. Jean when we finished. But I think they said they started in Sarria. Did you happen to see the Filipino flags along the way. We noticed it towards the end of the Camino. I hope we meet on the trail one day. Maybe along the Portuguese route :)

@@avendanoable Most Filipinos who do the Camino de Santiago start at Sarria that why you and hubby impressed me for doing it from SJPdP all the way to SdC. And had lots of fun doing it! I also met a Filipino couple who criss-crossed the Camino Frances from SJPdP to Leon then completed their Camino from Porto. No, I did not see the Filipino flags. I wish I did very proud that I am for/of the motherland. I want to redo the Frances to truly immerse myself of the Camino. Maybe in 2024 to coincide it with the planned reopening of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in July 2024. But yes, the Portugues is very promising for its shorter distance and less challenges as the Frances. Keep up the great adventures. You guys make proud of being Pinoy again. Buen Camino pilgrims!

Can you pleasee advise me on how is the weather in October? I am going from Leon to Santiago at the beginning of October ☺️☺️🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@AnnaJames-n4ifor me the weather in October was perfect not to warm (only in the desert) and not to many rain and less pilgrims! Perfect time to go!

Oh very nice! We like taking hikes around the Hilton Conservation Area. On our second Camino we did portions of the Bruce Trail from Niagara Falls to Grimsby. It was a nice way to test the boots and backpack. All the best on your Camino in the New Year!

Great Camino plan. If you go in September, invest in waterproof shoes, waterproof socks, and good raincoat. Lessons learned. Buen camino.

I just came across your camino, I hope you're still going to keep uploading. My friend and I are going july 2023. Quick question I know 2022 was a holy year so the pilgrim numbers were over 400k, did you feel crowded on the camino? Also did it get too cold in Oct? Oops one more question did you book ahead for accommodations?
@avendanoable2 жыл бұрын
I'm so happy to hear that you'll be heading to the Camino this year. I didn't find it too crowded in October and during November the crowd really thinned out. It did get a little cold, around 11 degrees celsius. But it warmed up in the afternoon. For accommodations, I booked St.Jean, Roncesvalles, and Zubiri the week before we flew out. The rest of the trip we booked most of our stays just one day ahead. Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions :)

Loved the video. Mildred what size and model osprey back pack did you use and what was the weight of your pack? Thanks
@avendanoable2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I used the Osprey Sirus 36. It weighed about 14lbs without food and water. I'm about 130 pounds, and I thought the backpack was a good weight for me. But i have to say on the longer days over 30km we had our sleeping bags transported ahead of us. It makes such a big difference. I also didn't carry a lot of water. only about 750 ml and then i would refill along the way. Sorry for the super long answer :P
