Love your video! Finally, after tons of you tubes, found yours. I'm going solo in June on the Coastal route as well. Loved the food, highlights, cool dips!

The stone "huts" with high standing pillars are used to store cereals, namely corn (Maize) they are called Espigueiros in Portugal and they are very very traditional on those Northern Areas bordering with Galiza.

Thank you so much for making this video. So informative. I love that you included the food you ate along the way. I'm planning on walking this route next June and I feel very inspired by what you've shown of your experience.

Your focus on food perked me right up hehe!!! All that seafood, YUM!!!!!!!!!! Well done for vlogging! What equipment did you bring to film on and did you use microphones? When did you start and end? I wanted to do Portuguese but worry about the lack of pilgrims…. Any tips to share would be amazing. How far ahead did you book your accommodation and did you feel the coastal was the best compared to the centr or littoral for first timers etc?.

I have only walked the coastal route, but I already think it’s the best one🙃 I walked the last 2 weeks of April. Did not book accommodation more than a day or two ahead of time, some the morning of. I used my iPhone 12 mini and my hand. I have a tripod, but I barely used it, not sure it’s worth recommending. I just bought a clip on microphone but haven’t used it yet, will let you know if I like it. I used splice app to edit the vlogs. I met a lot of people, but also had a lot of solo time, which suited me perfectly. Hope that’s helpful!

I would so love to know your itenerary- specifically which cities you landed in each night for rest. If any albergues or hotels stuck out as special, I’d love to hear about them too. Just booked our April 2025 Camino!!

Ahhh soooo excited for your Camino plans for next year!!! I'm working on making a planning guide for the Camino Portuguese based on my experience, the guide I wish I had, with places I would stay again, suggested Itinerary, and more. In the meantime, I have a short video called 'Steal My Itinerary' with how much I walked each day and where I started and ended. Hope it's helpful to you :)

Loved your video, question, what was your average miles or km. Per day?
@FigTreeTravels
@FigTreeTravels Ай бұрын
Thank you! I was honestly all over the place with mileage per day, but I think my sweet spot was about 10-13 miles. You can see exactly how many miles I walked each day of my Camino in my short video called Steal My Itinerary. Hope that's helpful :)

Thank you for the Camino Portuguese overview…….the expresso and pastries are delicious! Would like to know how much the whole trip costs? How much training did you do? I noticed that you stayed mainly in private hotels as oppose to hostels. Did you fly into Lisbon from the USA? What would you recommend? So this is doable in 16 days? Thanks in advance. ~Namaste 😊

I flew into Porto and spent a week there first. This is definitely doable in 16 days! Most itineraries I saw (before I went) were 11-13 days, but I did not plan my accommodation in advance and booked it as I went along so I could adjust it to my pace bc I just wasn't sure how it would go. I have a lot of info on my Instagram account (check my Camino highlights there) and a reel on how much I spent on stays + food. I also wrote a blog post about my favorite pastries in Portugal (all links are in my bio) More videos are coming to YT, but it takes time. So glad to have you here!!! :)

Was it hard to find the markers for the trail? Can’t believe it looked so warm for April, it was probably freezing on the Norte route.
@FigTreeTravels
@FigTreeTravels Ай бұрын
There were a few moments of not knowing where to go, but I made it through. I have a really good sense of direction so that helped, but I used my map app and the app called ‘Gronze Maps’ and that did the trick for me. It got progressively colder as I walked North.
