Great video.. 20L pack is awesome. I've been watching Camino videos all day and my jaw drops when I see how large many packs are.

Watching videos like yours are getting em through quarantine haha I appreciate that not only you packed really light! I have experience backpacking with a 20L pack and you might just have inspired me to do it with a similar size. And I also love that you didn't go out and buy a bunch of specialised gear, just old trusty clothes and gear from home. Thanks for the Camino inspiration!

Many people who do the Camino are regular hikers, so we do have "specialised gear" because we use then quite often.

The VAST majority of women take a 35/36L bag not the 45 or 65 as you said! You just showed any old item not the actual things you took and people would like to see the actual items not just someone saying it was a bit like this! You spoke and spoke but didn't give a proper packing list you didn't even show things us women need to speak about like period items, pants and toiletries etc...

The only thing I would add is some sort of bed bug repellant.

I’m going later this year now the Camino is opening up! I have an osprey 20l and didn’t want to buy a new pack so going to fit everything in that haha and maybe a bum bag/fanny pack thing.

On second thoughts I’ll be going this April and will now need to take a sleeping liner and blanket due to no blankets in the albergues what with covid

Instant like on hearing you used a 20l pack!

Thanks Steph, these packing videos are really useful. Just one thing to think about; when walking any of the Caminos across Northern Spain the sun will be on your left shoulder for most of the day so a full brimmed hat may work better than a baseball cap for sun protection. Fashion is a different story ;)

Hi Steph. Not sure if you mentioned it, but during what months did you do your Camino?
@StephBugge5 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony! I walked during the month of May! And it took me 34 days to complete it with 2 rest days.

Nice video, thank you for sharing. I am planning to do the Camino from Madrid in May. How is the the weather? I read on wether channel that April/May is the wettest month.
@StephBugge5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gus! That's fantastic, I love Madrid and I studied there a few years ago. For me it only rained once and that was in Galicia, where it tends to be wetter. I'm not entirely sure about the route your specifically going on. A poncho worked fine for me and a lot of people ended up sending their rain gear home to shed some extra weight!

Any idea how cold it was when you found it to be slightly too cold?
@StephBugge5 жыл бұрын
Janet Barben I believe it was in the 50s low 60s which if you ask a lot of the albergues have spare blankets. Or bring a light sleeping bag that’s warmer than a liner!

Do you recommend going in August?
@dorpie5 жыл бұрын
I did it Mid-July to Mid August in 2017. It gets very hot, 30 degrees or more most days and it also gets very busy as you approach Santiago but I never had trouble getting a bed. The days are long in Summer and it's lovely to start walking just as the sun rises around 6am while it's still cool, be finished walking by around 2pm and still have time to explore and be sociable. I've also walked April-May and preferred the slightly lower temperatures and greener scenery you get then but both are good. Buen Camino.

This is great. Thank you. Have you thought about a Medjugorje pilgrimage?
@StephBugge5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! And actually I had never heard of it, but I just looked it up and the pilgrimage looks really interesting! I'll have to look more into it, have you done it before?
