Good tip about Airplane mode, phones use sooo much power just negotiating signal, pinging, and background app data usage.

Loved your pre and post cmino videos. Wondering, maybe next time you could hook a caribiner on your water bottle and hook it to the front of your pack?

Thank you! Yeah, I could have probably done that. I'll be honest though, the weight and it swaying back and forth might have driven me nuts though, but who knows. Thanks for the tip! :-)

Thank you so much, Christina. I walked a few years ago and will walk again next year, but the next time I want to go super light weight. Your video is very helpfull on deciding what is realy necessary, like the poles. I will definitely bring them now.

Your videos were great! One question about if bringing the "warm" jacket was used?
@ChristinaBates408
@ChristinaBates408 4 жыл бұрын
I did end up using my jacket every day...you'll definitely want it in the early mornings & evenings. Also on days when the weather is rainy/cold or up in the mountains.

Really helpful, thank you! I'm starting the Camino on April 1 next year. Interested to read you walked in your Keen sandals....did you wear socks with them? I love the idea of switching out hiking shoes with these or teva tirra's. I have to think of weight though as I'm hoping to use just a 30ltr backpack. Thanks again!

Hi Ruth, thanks I'm glad you found the video helpful. How exciting, you're going to love the Camino! Yes, I wore socks with my sandals and they were perfect. To be honest, I was worried about the weight too but I liked having two different options. I wish I would have gone with a lightweight walking shoe instead of the boots. The boots ended up being too heavy for my feet so I just shipped them back home and walked the rest of the way in my sandals and they were perfect. If I were to do it again, I'd bring a lightweight pair of walking shoes and a pair of walking sandals. That way you can alternate in between if you'd like plus you'll have more support in the evenings then just walking around in flip flops. I hope that helps, best of luck with your Camino! :-) Buen Camino!

I just watched the packing and post packing videos back to back. Thanks for doing these. I recently decided to do the Camino and of course Covid-19 will prevent this for some time. You covered all the important things in this post Camino video but 1 thing I was waiting to hear about didn't get mentioned. That is, how did the wool shirt do in the smell test compared to the poly quick dry. I hate those stinking poly clothes. You think they are clean but your body heat activates the baked-in stank. If my stinky clothes offend me, I'm sure they offend everyone around me.

Great question! Sorry, I forgot to mention that in my follow up video. The wool shirt actually held up pretty well compared to the poly quick dry and I would recommend it. I still sweat in it but it didn't smell as bad as the poly quick dry. I hope that helps. Best of luck!

Aloha, I've watched so many videos over the last couple of years as I moved towards my own journey and I've kept a journal of all of the various ideas on packing to alburges, but you offered a few new ones which is always like finding an easter egg. I finally leave in April of 2020, most of my gear is purchased, still trying shoes but yes Keen is one of them. Also because I have minimal padding in my feet I'm also going with a Hoka One One shoe. Would you be so kind as to send me the names of the foot creams (I know they are in Spanish) so I can find the equivalent. Thanks again for your post review... I wish more people would do the second step of sharing :) Mahalo Nui

Of course, happy to share and help any way that I can. The two creams I bought in a pharmacy in Spain were called, Pedi Relax and Saltratos Crema de Pies (pies cansados). I hope that helps. Best of luck with your Camino and thanks for your comment :-) Buen Camino!
