some clips of my first time, then Pat's. Where did you start your first Camino? Was it exciting? Were you nervous? Or maybe you are planning your first Camino? Where do you plan to start from? 🙂

I did my first 4.5 years ago along the Norte (started in Irun). Doing my second in one month, starting in St Jean Pied de Port. Thanks for all your videos, they have been helpful to remind me of things I'd forgotten and teach me things I didn't know 🙏❤️

Oh and if you wanna do one of your random interviews with a fellow pilgrim, I'd be delighted to do a zoom call with you while I'm on the journey for your channel if you like? Could be cool to chat a couple of times along the way, share feedback about how it's going

My first start was Porto. I took the metro 10km to avoid the walk through the city. I popped out right onto the Camino and saw my first yellow arrow directing me....that was a great thrill, I was finally walking a Camino. Then some Bicigrinos rang their bells and shouted Buen Camino as they passed on the road. My heart feels warm just remembering how wonderful I felt right then.

as it was Pat's first time we just walked to Orisson, then got a lift back down to St Jean, and on Day 2, started where we left off.

A few years ago, I had severe plantar fasciiitis in both my feet and could barely walk. My podiatrist gave me 3 cortisone shots in each foot and its been an amazing blessing. I also stopped running, but have started doing a bit of running and lots of walking again after purchasing awesome shoes from a shop called Orthofeet. They've made all the difference! I feel for you walking the Camino with foot pain🤥

@@robscamino Thanks for your videos Rob! I begin my Camino October 18 and am a little nervous because for the past 3 months I haven't been able to train because I'm frantically trying to renovate an apartment attached to my house so that I can get it rented before I go. Anyway, your videos are great for letting me know what to bring, etc. I plan to watch more of them very soon😁

Don't stress about training too much. As long as you are 'active' that helps. And start slow and steady.

Planning to start from Lisbon! I believe the monument is in the courtyard of a cathedral in the city. Right now, I feel like the Portuguese is going to be my first Camino. If I do end up doing the Frances, then it will be St Jean Pied de Port.

Could you explain your water hookup? Specifically what you use to attach it to your backpack straps and the hose you connected? This is one thing I am still trying to work out for my Camino next year - the best way to carry water.

Hi Rob. Thank you for all of your informative videos. Question. I have viewed an older video relating to rain gear, and was impressed with the rain jacket you use. Could you advise the make/model? Do you both wear the same? Kind regards .. 😊

They are quite old, 2015, bought from Kathmandu in Australia. No longer made I think. But they are basically a very light 400 gm, gore-tex type jacket. I like that the hood has an adjustable peak on it. I'm sure if you look around there are many similar models. They were not cheap though! And Yes, we both wear exactly the same gear. 🙄🙄

Those clips are from 2 different Caminos. Departing almost on the same date. 27th and 25th April. Both very different. The first one was warm, blue skies, great visibility, and a few patches of snow still on the top. The second one was low cloud, cold, windy, rain, and about 100 metres visibility at times! Across the top, we just kept going to keep warm! Though it was still great of course 🙂

I've found late April to be a good start date from St Jean. Not too hot, not too cold. Though the first one by mid to late May was getting quite warm. 30C + on a few days. A late April or early May start seems to be the peak time!

@@linfung4297 That could work well. But you never really know what the weather will be like 'on the day'. And there is always the risk of the Napoleon Route being closed by Snow, even though it officially opens on 31 March I think. I always research the historical weather to get an idea of what it 'might' be like. And check the forecast when you visit the Pilgrims office in St Jean too of course!
