I thoroughly enjoyed this video, especially showing the travel from Madrid, and the sights around SJPDP. Looking forward to watching the entire series as I am beginning to plan my Camino for spring or summer of 2025. Very well done and informative.

Just to clarify and help your audience, in my video at 2:06 minutes to 3:10, I showed that there is a bus from the Pamplona airport to the bus station in Town. But you have to wait, sometimes about a half hour after you arrive. The yellow signs behind you in your video are the bus schedules (not that they are completely reliable 😊) The bus costs 1,35 euros and it stops at the bus station... The pilgrims office in Saint Jean Pied de Port opens at 7:30 am, it is in their website and it is located at 39 Rue de la Cittadele. In one of my 360 videos, I explained that after people get out of the bus, they have to make a right turn at hotel Des Remparts to get to town. Saint Jean Pied de Port is a beautiful city and I recommend getting there early just like you did. 😊 👍 Ultreia y Buen Camino!

Hi Rachelle! I am so excited to be taking my first Camino trip next spring! I randomly came across your Camino videos earlier this spring while searching for Utah National Parks hiking videos. I was hooked immediately, and have watched all of your videos twice, trying to absorb as much information as possible. Typically, I'm a planner, but for this trip, I'm only planning the first 3 nights of accommodations (Gite Makila and Orisson!) and then will go with the flow. I appreciate your sharing every aspect (packing, albergues, food, spiritual moments, physical challenges, meeting new friends, etc.). Looking forward to this new adventure! Buen Camino!

You finally did it. God bless. Dunno if you happen to meet some Filipino priests in Pamplona for their advance studies. They said St. Francis Xavier’s family had some sort of a castle near Pamplona. Our 4th camino is coming up next year for the Del Norte route.
@IllGetThere5 жыл бұрын
Wonderful! I didn’t meet them there but did stumble upon a group of Filipino pilgrims who had a special mass in one of the chapels at Burgos cathedral. The priest was Filipino and the mass was in English so I stayed for the last part after communion. 😊 The Norte is definitely on my list. 👍👣

About how long did it take you getting off the plane in Pamplona to the bus station? There’s a flight landing at 1:20 and a bus leaving at 2:30 and I’m trying to figure out if I’d make it.
@IllGetThere3 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly, it’s not too far, and if everything works seamlessly, you could make it. But if it were me, I would want a little more time to account for possible plane delays, baggage claim (if you are checking a bag), or if the buses to the bus station are not running (which happened to me). You will also need to buy your bus ticket to Saint Jean at the bus station unless there’s a way to purchase ahead of time. I was able to get a taxi to the bus station, but it took a little extra time. My strategy was to book an early morning flight to Pamplona to try to make the morning bus to Saint Jean-that way, if I missed that first bus, I could always take the afternoon bus. Hope that helps. Buen Camino!! 👣
@aspenvallee29143 жыл бұрын
@@IllGetThere There’s very few options right now for flights From Madrid to Pamplona and buses from Pamplona to St. Jean. I’m hoping they’ll open more up later. I am not planning on checking a bag and I guess worst case scenario I could stay a night in Pamplona. Thank you so much! I’ve loved watching your vlogs. Did you use your phone or a camera?

@@IllGetThere Also, how much cash did you carry? Do places take credit card? And did you book ahead a lot or wing it?

@@aspenvallee2914 Some of the larger albergues in larger cities to credit cards, but I would take out and carry no more that 200€ at a time.

@@aspenvallee2914 It was a mix of booking ahead and winging it. I tried to book ahead if I had a really long day ahead and knew I would get in later in the day-to ensure I had a bed.

Got mine at the pilgrim shop across from the pilgrims office. They have all the basics you light need. Mine were 18€ each. And there are restrictions on flying so you need to check them or risk get them confiscated.

Hi Rachelle, I'm so excited for you beginning your Camino! You reached out to me a couple months back when I was walking the Camino and I'm just so happy to follow your journey now. Remember it's the journey, not the destination. Embrace it all. Smile, cry, laugh, feel all the feels! If you can manage to call the night before to book your next Albergue in the next town, I'd recommend doing it. That way as your walking you don't feel rushed to have to "get a bed". One last tip, I noticed from your video. Be careful to never put your backpack or poles or hiking gear on your bed. It's a great way to possibly transfer bedbugs. Rather be safe than sorry. If you need any other tips or have any questions feel free to reach me on my Instagram @SimplyTheBates Buen Camino!
