Can’t choose just one! 1. La Laguna de Castillo to Triacastillo. 2. SJPP to Roncesvalles. 3. Foncebedon to Molineseca. 4. Pamplona to Puente la Reina (Eunate variant) 5. Villa Franca del Bierzo to La Laguna de Castillo. Actually the 7 days from Astorga to Sarria are magnificent as is the meseta. This is too hard! I also spend the summers in San Sebastián so the the first five days in Basque Country on the Norte are awesome. 😊❤️🥾

As you do, I love the Meseta! I wouldn’t miss that part of El Camino. Your videos are awesome. Thank you so much! It’s really difficult for me to pick a favourite stage, cannot do it 😅 Buen Camino to everyone! ❤️

I'm a bit the same. When people say "I'm short of time, which sections should I skip" I love them all! 🙂

I am hoping to walk the camino in about 12-18 months and I am really looking forwards to seeing the metal pilgrim sculptures on the Alto del Perdon. Ever since I first saw it on You Tube I have been obsessed. I don't know why.

Yes, they are quite cool. And on a clear day you can just see the Cathedral from there. Just be aware they are about 500 metres South of the little chapel that you come to.

Just to add - leaving Villafranca I have walked both high and low routes but the high one is so worth the extra effort. Stunning like the Pyrenees!

My Favorite Places: The Arrival in Finisterre, La Casa de los Dioses ( David Vidal's place) and the meseta. Yes I'm part of the wierdos who love the Meseta ! :)

I think most people who have walked the Meseta enjoy it! Some just 'think too much' or 'read too much' about it and skip it. Very sad.

Most looking forward to that first day, and the stages in Galicia (I have heard it feels similar to the Pacific Northwest here in the US). And yes--the Meseta! That wide open sky and landscape looks very dramatic! And I think I am going to be more into the villages and towns vs the cities, but Burgos, Leon and Pamplona might surprise me?

You will love all of it. Though I found the Cities a bit overwhelming after days walking through the countryside and staying in small towns and villages. Though Burgos is nice, and Pamplona.

I agree with all your selections Rob but I would like to add the walk into Villafranca from Cacabelos through the vineyards, it's stunning.

Loved all the stages (except for the last few kilometres getting into Burgos), they are all different. The meseta is where you change from watching the landscape into watching the ‘sky scape’; loved it. The alternative route out of Villafranca de Bierzo is called the Camino Duro (hard) and it is hard but beautiful views. It is a long hard day if you continue straight on to O’Cebreiro🥵

There are two variants out of Villafranca del Bierzo and both are more difficult.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video, it was so interesting to hear which sections were your top 10 and why. What were my top sections? That's a difficult question to answer but the section to Roncesvalles has to right up there - magical mix of fog and snow - and Roncesvalles to Viskarret it another of my greats as it felt like we were really on the way - I loved the country paths, animals in barns etc. The open vistas from Granon is another. Tardajos to Hontanas was a wonderful introduction to the meseta. Rabanal to El Acebo was definitely a high in every sense for me ...I could go on. Just too many sections worthy of being my favourites...

Thanks Rob - delighted to see you accept my change to publish your top ten. Stage One will always be my top favourite and second Astorga to Foncebadón but like you I would never miss the Meseta either.
