I'm lucky to be a blister free walker too. I blame my luck on litres and litres of water. Another of my top tips is don't carry water into town carry it out and drink it on the Camino 😂 you can never drink too much water and it makes the wine taste even better with you menu.

I am leaving for my first Camino tomorrow, Sarria to Santiago. I’m nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. This will be my first trip abroad and my first walking trip as well. I really enjoy watching your Camino videos Ricky. It beats doing it myself! Actually due to my age plus health I couldn't do this anyway. Plus my ability to travel is negated by several factors,at the moment. If I ever could,I'd love to do just a short stretch maybe six miles over one day. That'd be enough for me. So its great to see it all on your films only I don't watch them in order and I must go back and watch some from before I joined. In a way we are all Pilgrims just in living.

The first mistake is to arrive in Santiago as if it were a Disneyland party, shouting, talking loudly and eating in the square. Santiago is a real city, with real citizens and working people, not a theme park. The funny thing is that as a Spaniard I have lived abroad and we have a reputation for being noisy and getting drunk.... just incredible.

Hi, enjoyed your vid! Finally someone mentions stretching! - very nice. Does nobody know about "stag-fat" (this is a literal translation from the German word "Hirschtalg")? It's the very best thing to prevent blisters. Sounds a little weird, but its like a stick, the solidity as a lipstick. In Germany you get those in the pharmacy, it doesn't cost much. If you treat your feet beforehand with this stick, it makes the skin smooth an more elastic - most of the time you then get NO blisters! :-))

If you pay very very good attention you will find out that 'mistakes' are an important part of the journey. That's the beauty of the Camino. There are no two Camino experiences the same. Arguably the only mistake one can make is to live the Camino as a normal daily routine in life.

@anthonyburke5656 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it may seem odd, but I crossed the mountains without gloves and my hands froze, I stopped at every village shop until I found a pair of gloves, they weigh nothing but make life so much easier. I also had clips on my pack to allow me to hang damp clothes to dry while I walked. I also had a billed cap with a “veil” (like a legionnaires Kepi) to keep sun off my neck, naturally I had good sunglasses and sun screen. I also wore a bandana (I’ve always worn one while hiking, they come in handy for so much. Expert tip, in the first part of the Camino, wear a combination of red and white, the locals really appreciate the support displayed.@@caminotellers

Hi Dominik! Thanks a lot :) 😃 al depands of few factors... which Camino you do, how steep is the stage and... how heavy is the bag. @@caminotellers Thank you very much. As for the Camino I am still choosing but I will be doing something shorter, max 400 km and most likely it will be on the north coast of Spain. As for the bag, I am packing according to your guide, so I do not expect it to be too heavy, plus I am 27 year old, quite sporty guy so that should be alright. I hope. I used them on the Del Norte last year, while I did feel it was kind of a pain to carry them I did like to use them to help take the strain off my legs like going up some big hills or where I had to take a big step, up or down. I bought a cheap pain and left them in the albergue in Muxia.
