The Transmission i ended up deciding on is an AR5 5spd out of a 04 Colorado. a company called fabbot makes an adapter plate for them and splines match up with this trans and 5.3.
Cam is a Howard Rattler
.525/.525 Lift 226/234 with a 109lsa

I did the 4L85e swap on my 2004 Tahoe with a built 6.2 LS3, the gearing is just toooooo long, I even have 4:30 gears in the diff, but gearing in the trans is just too long. I've been contemplating doing a manual swap.

Wow .. great job mate .. but why would you go with the ar5 , though you have other choices of transmissions that will bolt on to your tahoe , t56 , nv3500 , nv4500 , tr6060 , .. with no adaptors required .. is it the cost ? .. probably .. since smaller tranny (lower power rates) are cheaper than those with higher power rates ..

Exactly what I was thinking. If using an adapter, I would have gone with the cd009. But I think even a t5 would handle more torque than the ar5. Nv3500 would have been the simplest imo. Not hating tho. Nice build.
