Really though, in the past few years, I have to say that Walmart has gotten much better about carrying foods for special dietary needs. That’s my favorite taco seasoning, too! I get fajita chicken meat, which I suppose there’s probably a vegetarian version of that somewhere, and just heat it up with some of the taco seasoning and a little bit of water. I make a salad with it and some black beans over a bed of salad greens with some Herdez guacamole salsa and some crumbled queso fresco. So so good and easy to make as a camp meal or travel day meal. And the grain-free chips are also great. I am not vegetarian, but because of food allergies and intolerances, I do have to be grain-free. The Siete brand is awesome. I also like Beanitos chips, specifically the black bean flavor. I make fresh guacamole when I’m on the road a lot (well at a roadside park or other suitable location, ha!) and make a meal out of that. It’s pretty easy. Some white pepper, garlic salt, lime, avocados, tomato, and cilantro and all of that fits in my small cooler nicely. You can also add onions and peppers if you like them, but I don’t. It’s so much better than the pre-made kind and much easier than most people think. I love it that you can make something that you can all enjoy together without being too complicated to meet everyone’s dietary requirements. I am usually the friend who has to make a completely separate meal from everyone else because I can’t eat a lot of things. While I don’t mind because I would rather eat something that won’t make me sick and just enjoy the company, it is also nice when I can just be part of the group meal and not have to feel excluded. I’m sure that Dee appreciated that you all cared to make something that was safe for her.

Walmarts and Amazon carry Somos brand Mexican Pea-cadillo vegan taco filling pouches. It does not require water. It is not ultra processed food, just veggies with seasoning. Don’t have to refrigerate it. Need to refrigerate leftovers. Lots of flavors. Lots of protein from peas or beans or lentils. Really good taste.

Yes, I have used various versions of this, and it’s always been really delightful because of the lack of refrigeration needed. And with things like this, you can prepare enough for just a small amount or a larger amount like we did. It is very handy. I have tried several that use Pea protein. I have also used some that comes from jackfruit, which was pretty tasty

I really appreciated this video. I'm not vegan but I am vegetarian. I didn't know they made a meat alternative that didn't require refrigeration. That's a plus. I didn't quite catch the name so I'll have to go back to beginning. And the dehydrated salsa too. Very interesting. Making me hungry.

There are several different brands that I have stumbled upon along the way made with various styles of protein. We have seen pea, mungbean and mushroom protein blends

Yum looks good! Thanks for putting out a vegan meal video. I’ve never tried eating vegan cheese without cooking/melting it because I didn’t think it would taste good as-is. This is because when I went vegan in 2004, vegan cheese I had then did not taste good as-is so I never ate it that way since.

The vegan cheese that we got here wasn’t too bad by itself. But I do know what you’re talking about. I’ve had some other vegan cheeses in the past they have not been great. I was really deterred from trying them ever again, but then we went to Bisbee Arizona and went to this really delightful vegan restaurant and they had nachos which tasted just like regular nachos with the cheese and so I thought well I’ll give it a shot. It’s been a while, and I have to say that not all are created equally, but this one was pretty decent.

Looks yummy! I'm so glad the salsa worked out! I am visiting a trader Joe's next Friday for the very first time so I will look for it there. I didn't think we had any in Indiana but we do a little north of me. Itried the beyond brand of beef crumbles last night for tacos and I was so happy. I tried tvp but did not like it but this stuff is so close to the real thing. I am fine being plant based but now and then I do want tacos or a burger so it's awesome stuff. Oh, I accidentally bought the impossible brand of chicken patties. Thought it was the sausage patties but they were really good. I liked it better than the real thing tbh. No worries if grizzle. Lol happy trails!

I like Jackfruit as a meat substitute and add my seasoning to that... It stores well for vanlifers, for it comes in a can... I personally stay away from plant based meats due to all the garbage ingredients in it... Keep up with the great video and sharing all your adventures...

I have found that summer better than others just like everything else. I really just try out different stuff to let people know if flavor is present because I think a lot of people are intimidated by vegan meals just in general because they don’t understand them so by at least sharing the options that you can do with them, I’m hoping it will make people feel more comfortable if they see a vegan recipe at a restaurant or something like that just to at least give it a shot.

We try lots of different kinds of things. Vegan meals are not wrong they just are different some people like them some people don’t, but we are just trying out different things based on different dietary needs that people have expressed. It’s really fun to do that because ultimately, we are foodies.

Just like any product, not all products are going to be made the same way. I encourage you to look through the various styles of vegan meat that they have some made of just cheer mushrooms. Other are made out of jackfruit. Some were made of pea protein, and in doing so not all of these are terrible. I have had my fair share of good versus bad. Of course I am by no means of vegan. I eat all sorts of different kinds of foods, but I do like to share what is available out there which is why I try out different variations.
