I camped two years and stayed in a hotel this year. Honestly if you like having a clean bathroom, quiet sleep and the ability to eat real food from a restaurant, that's pretty much the only perks over camp. Camp is like a 24/7 commitment and people are more open to meeting and hanging out

Camping was LIT here are some of my after thoughts. 1) We brought an electric kettle!!! and it was so clutch ! We made tea, coffee, hot water for ramen, and those ready mac n cheese! 2) I brought WAY TOO much food. we were so tired that we were too lazy to cook up sometimes. I essentially ate ramen and mac n cheese almost the whole weekend and it worked! 3) Ramen came in clutch !! 4) bring either styrofoam cups or bowls if you do ramen, tea, or coffee 5) showers were cool but bathrooms i was not lucky and were nasty. Day 2 i went right went the gates opened up for edc and got a never used clean porta potty so that worked.

This was my 4th EDC and first time camping too. We did the moonglow as well. Ditto to everything you said. Loved the convenience and the camp parties. Def crossing my fingers for better and cheaper food options next time as it’s hard to bring groceries when flying in. Glad I wasn’t the only one who experienced some rude vendors. I guess asking if they had breakfast burritos after 1pm was a trigger 🤷🏽♂️. I hope to RV camp next year.

I haven’t been as active on KZbin for a while now but I’m glad i can catch up with your videos now 😭 I like how thorough this was (I’m not done yet though). If you mention this before I’m done I’m sorry in advance but you should 100% try rv camping for edc!! You save so much on food because of having a fridge and microwave and you get more comfort, and are actually able to sleep. You also have a bathroom of course, and the entire thing comes out cheaper than any other option (tents/hotels) if you take a group of 8. This was our second year doing an rv and I highly recommend!

At camping festivals, always do early arrival. It’s so much easier since everyone arrives on Friday. Also I highly suggest an air mattress and sleeping bags that can open up into a blanket (or a thick comforter). And (more specifically for forest) get a canopy because it will get HOT in your tent. Also luckily for you, for forest you just setup camp by your car so no lugging camp supplies.

1st EDC, we are a little on the older side 34 and 30. I've done camping fests before and found the sleep situation can be super difficult specially when people are throwing renegades in camp and the music never stops. 1st day we tried Uber. Huge mistake. Wait and cost was too high. 2nd and 3rd days we drove and I wouldn't change that for anything. Traffic was OK both ways. If you have the self control to be sober by the end of the festival I would highly recommend driving. Fest is so long that you can easily be fucked up at midnight and be good to drive by 6 am. Next time we may try to Airbnb in north Vegas we will see!

I think for the price we paid for our Desert rose tent, we should have had those A/C’s or at least a partial refund. Our air mattresses had holes in them! So we had to wait an hour before we got new ones. Setting everything up got me so light headed from the heat in the tent. I was so over it that first day. I just think it’s messed up that we paid for something we didn’t get. Me and my group decided to do RV next time. I think that’s definitely the way to go. Bring a shit load of food and a shit load of drinks lol. I also agree that the food was really gross. The only good food was the actual food trucks. At least we have experience now and we know what to do next time lol.

Also your allowed 24 beers 5L of wine initially and you can buy packs of 12 for $20 right next to where they sell ice so you can re-up your beer supply if need be rather then spending 10-20$ on each drink at the Mesa (we found out late day 2 and I had already spent a lot around camp and wish I had known earlier)

I’ve only camped at Coachella and it was brutal. The heat and the noise was the worst. I can only imagine how it was at EDC. I feel like if you’re in the middle of nowhere then yeah camping is definitely an option, but if you’re in a place like Vegas and you’re of age I definitely recommend just staying in a hotel with all of the amenities. It might be cheaper to do that than to spend your time at the camp. Also, you’re right they did not regulate GA+ bathrooms but those bathrooms seemed to have less privacy so I still think the regular bathrooms are more than enough.

Thanks for the vid as always it was awesome! Just a few things I wanted to bring up. Like Cotton said RV's were just as loud as tents. It's really based on your placement in camp. We were one RV away from Camp OG which while I love that stage and what it represents it's very loud. Almost 24 hours of music. I wish they'd choose to place it off in a corner somewhere. We camped in 2019 in Moonglow and were also right by it. With that placement, we were also very close to the festival entrance which is what I wanted and why we arrived so early. I also want to say that camp was NOT This messy in 2019. The merch tent didn't even have most of the items it was supposed to have when we arrived. The chip reader for the line my friend was in locked his and several other people's cards. It was the reader. It was switched and then stopped doing that. Tents were still being set up and astroturf rolled out when we arrived. Our RV had no power when we first arrived. I'm praying that 22' won't be like that. I'm giving Insomniac the grace that it was a weird year and that's why the issues with camp and inside the festival happened. I do encourage everyone to take the survey provided in your email about camp and the festival. The food... oh the food. We are already paying an insane premium for camp. For a PARKING spot and we have basically no affordable food options in or out of the festival. We brought food in so we only ate a few times the entire weekend at the festival but most of the options were very OKAY and very overpriced. No surprise though since this was the same in 2019. Just thought maybe a cup of fruit wouldn't cost $14. So many shady things going on with food. We found out later that the vendors working didn't even get card tips. Only the company contracted out for the card readers were actually getting them. This was really concerning since I'm tipping the worker, not a company. This should have been stated. I heard several people complain that they weren't given all the ingredients of the "meal" and still paid the same. With all that sass I did still have a great time and will be doing it again in 2022!
@EmmaKapotes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this!! I'm kind of hoping that the worst it out of the way so future experiences will feel way more seamless than this did 😅 Definitely going to be more prepared with food in the future!

My friends and I went to EDC this year, with 2 of us having GA+ (the girls got them because GA bathrooms are nastier) and when we went to the bathrooms, a ton of people were slipping by the front door guy easily. There was even a time when I went to use the restroom in the middle of a set, and the guard watching the GA+ saw a guy walking past and said "Hey hey, do you got GA+?" but the dude kept walking and ignored him. The Guard just stood there, turned around and faced the front again and didn't even care. I also agree with the search at the front gate being very sketchy. They didn't even really pat me down and barely skimmed my bag. It made me worried because it made me think of all the people that could slip by easily with a weapon of some sort if they wanted to harm people. Like they need to at least do better pat downs for sure.

Had it been much worse he would have died because medical was at the main tent which took nearly 20 mins to get over to the first aid tent. Had I and a friend not been a first responder and nurse he would have been unconscious when they finally got there. Poor planning there considering someone could have died. Love insomniac but that was shitty. Also they gave him stitches in the back of his head and didn’t even use numbing cream or a sedative. He felt all 4 go in his head.

If you have 7 other trusted people and spend a pretty penny RV was pretty quiet unless you have noisy neighbors . Plus if you rent an amp you’ll be able to be placed a little closer to the event entrance if they keep the same setup .

the noise wouldnt have been a problem if they had AC. we wouldve been able to sleep during the day with the AC inside the tent. I ended up rotating around my tent's shaded areas throughout the day lmao

Tip for sleep: Bring an extra thick blanket like those fluffy ones or soft ones (fur-like) and cover your ears with it + ear plugs. Sleep like a baby. Can't hear shit.

It's not even about hearing, the bass from the after party in the mesa shakes the fuck out of you the entire time, it's brutal.
