Voice over also works perfectly during those "Nobody wants to watch someone peel a kilo of potatoes" moments too- Its not an all or nothing thing- you could use it to add little stories or anecdotes to your videos too!

Don't give up the VO if thats something that you like. Personally I really like the impromptu/live feel of your regular stuff because it gives that "as if I were there with you" feel. The only part that needs work is getting a plate of whatevers on the fire over my way :D I guess I'll have to cook my own for now.

I really don't mind the voice overs, I've been trying a few lately on our channel. gives another dimension to the vid and also makes it easier in editing. Harry I hate to deviate from your OG recipes. Had a real late night arrival this evening and had to do a fridge leftover mashup. Mixed some leftover penne with your chakalaka, an egg, easy garlic and chilli and the main oddity- blood sausage. I know it sounds weird but it was insanely good, the blood sausage has such a carrying savoury quality it's worthy of more recipes. Sorry to get side tracked, love your work!!

Hey harry looks like a great meal just noticed that your chopping board is moving around a bit when cutting and you can prevent this by putting a wet/damp tea towel under the board, but awesome video thought I’d give you that tip, can’t wait for more videos

Haven't had a pasta bake for years, this will be added to the menu next trip. Chefy question - wash vs peel mushrooms? I always remember peeling and read something about mushrooms absorbing water when washed so diluting flavour - whatcha think?
@lukeandmelreynolds4792 жыл бұрын
Peel every time your bang on about washing plus from a camping view your not wasting water supplies too but yes peel everytime
@Mack742 жыл бұрын
Never peel. Most of the flavour is in the skin. Same as other veggies.
@lukeandmelreynolds4792 жыл бұрын
@@Mack74 Mushrooms are the only thing I peel but you’ve converted me I’ll give it a go
@alexanderpirpiris38102 жыл бұрын
Don’t peel or bother washing them, just brush them off with a towel or paint brush, and use them. You’re losing a lot of flavour by peeling and there is no difference found in washing them vs not washing. If you’re eating wild mushrooms you actually need to squeeze water out of them

If it makes YOU happy doing the last episodes format.... do it. And also.... personally I don't mind the voice over... I think what made it feel so impersonal is your perfect asmr quality recording setup. Not sure if that's something that could be played with. And I watch for you and the life you live more than the recipes... The tourer and vlog content is just as valuable to me as the cooking.

Can I suggest a wet towel underneath your board? Save that annoying slip. Also mushies almost always come dirty because they go slimey if they’re washed.

I'll definitely try this Harry , do you find crushed tomato removes the season in a cast iron pot ?? Ive always been hesitant to put canned tomato into cast iron , love to hear your thoughts ?
@ferremit2 жыл бұрын
I’ve cooked tonnes of tomato dishes in my spun steel cookware over the years and it hasn’t really hurt the seasoning. I find that low and slow stuff does more damage, but then it’s just an excuse to build a fire in the back yard, crack a beer, crank up some tunes and re-season your cookware
@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen2 жыл бұрын

Wooooh there's enough cheese, cream and butter to harden the arteries, that's not always a bad thing.... I also think you'd be able to cut right back on the salt as the ham is loaded with the stuff. Too many times a good meal is ruined by too much salt.🍺🍺🍺
