even when i was a kid, i loved the soundtrack but found the plot super ridiculous. it always bothered me that joe's character suddenly forgave mitchie just because he heard her sing a song he liked, and then he never had to apologize for any of his issues.

Classist is right! Mitchie had good reason so be insecure about how other campers would see her if they knew her family wasn’t as well connected or famous or rich as the others were. I think she only started getting respect when she started a relationship with the famous Rock star

The sad part is she was proven right when Tess and her friends just got up and left after she told them where her dad worked. If she was gonna be ostracized either way, it says more about the other campers than her.

Her shame over her parents working a lower class seeming job is what really pushed me away from her character. I didnt get it as a kid watching Camp Rock and I didnt get it however many years later during that later season of Glee when the new girl was ashamed of her mom being the lunch lady. My dad's worked on cars my whole life. It may not have made us as much money as some of the kids I grew up with, but I understood pretty early on that he worked harder than a lot of the people who made more money than he did. 15 is young... but I feel like both characters are old enough to appreciate that struggle a little more.

Shane was my least favorite character in the franchise! In the first movie he didn’t learn anything, and had the nerve to talk to Mitchie about being “who you really are”, when he’s been lying to himself. The second movie he was completely being selfish, he rather try to make out with Mitchie than to SAVE HIS UNCLE’S MUSIC CAMP?? 😂😂😂

Not too much now. Camp Rock gave us the iconic, memeable Alyson Stoner DJ moment and the soundtrack was jam-packed with bops! Also Demi and Joe’s duet “This is Me” was a cultural reset!

I loved how you brought up Camp Rock being “pottery barn poor.” Whenever Disney Channel wrote characters in their movies and TV shows who are “struggling” or “poor”, they always have fashionable clothes and fully decorated houses (almost always with two stories), it’s so annoying ☠️ Also, the scene of Tess exposing Mitchie is SO shady The end of the movie song/conflict resolution finale was iconic, but VERY cliche Both camp rock movies had bad writing and were cliche, but they were both iconic but still the first movie >>> second movie (the second movie was so much unnecessary drama with all the new characters) 🫠

I loved Camp rock growing up but in 2020 I found out it was based on another movie called Camp rock which I have yet to watch. I love camp rock for music. Shane and that blonde girl were so mean to Mitch for no reason and still would have anyway. I think most of those teens were probably secretly ashamed of their parents too, like Shane was so embarrassed and moody to be at camp with his uncle anyway😂. Disney and Nick would portray the mean bad boy and a girl who deals with it because they are attracted to the boy kinda narcissist vibes.

Irrelevant but when me and my friends first saw this movie we could not get over how goofy it was that Mitchie was smiling 98% of the time in that film. Yeah I rewatched the two camp rock movies and…yeah they did not age well in terms of storytelling. I think people tend to believe that it was good or have nostalgia for it is because of the music. The songs are really good and I think that was the only thing that was emphasized since during the late 2000s to late 2010s, Disney Channel was really cashing in on their actress and actor being singers, I mean they still do today, but it’s nothing compared to how it was back during that time. You usually have their actors and actresses (especially the ones that plays the main lead) making so many music for certain shows, movies, and their radio. I will say the one thing I remember when rewatching Camp Rock 2, was that Fish Hooks premiered afterwards.

Random thoughts on Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2. So Peggy a black woman won the final jam and record deal and that's how Camp Rock ends and then we get a short of them all meeting up outside the camp we then jump into Camp Rock 2. So why is it Peggy who was the winner and finally standing up for herself to be her own person was pushed to the background to being almost nonexistent in the movie for Demi Lovatos character to have the spot light despite last year completely lying about who she was. 🤔 The movies script and treatment of it's cast was very weird.

I agree mostly in relation to the sequel. I still say the 1st movie still has enough solid moments to keep it from being completely terrible, but the sequel?!? Nah that is in my opinion the absolute worst DCOM sequel, even Cheetah Girls 3 had more of a reason to exist
