Just a quick video showing how I set up camp with my DMW removable canopy.
The Roof Top Tent is the Hardshell 1600 from ToyTuf.
The awning is the Caos Gear 270° Bub awning.

Some of your ideas are being implemented in various JB74, here in Northern Europe. Keep up the good work and keep that amazing Jimny content coming 😊 Best of luck to you.

Brilliant! Didn't think about using those beefy impact tie down screws to secure everything, do you have info or another video on the canopy leg cross bracing? Cheers.
@TheLittleRig
@TheLittleRig Жыл бұрын
Hey mate the cross bracing is literally just metal extendable tent poles with a hole at either end that I bolt through the legs. That way no matter how uneven the ground is and what height each individual leg is, I can always adjust the cross bracing to the right length and attach it 😊

Hey mate, this was actually the first time I did the set up off the vehicle, so it took me realistically probably 45 mins or so, including the awnings and table and chair etc. I think over time I’ll probably get this down to about 25-30 mins start to finish. Maybe quicker.

@TheLittleRig

Hey mate, Thankyou. Yep all engineered and GVM upgraded. The tray and canopy total is only 150kg. It’s only 10kg more than was cut off. Obviously the RTT and items inside the canopy weigh more though, but it’s really not that heavy. 😊

That truck looks soo cool.. I don't really know much about overlanding gear or techniques... When I see this, I think: I'd rather just set up a tent on the ground. I wouldn't like my tent being 8 feet up in the air, and all the work with the stilts. So.. why do this? What are the benefits vs. putting a tent on the ground?
@TheLittleRig
@TheLittleRig Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, so the benefit is having the 12 volt system, cooking, fridge and roof top tent etc all set up permanently and ready to go at any time. When we pull into camp, we can set up, go driving hard tracks every day or exploring the area, and return back to camp every night already set up ready to grab a drink, cook a meal and go to bed. The set up time is under 30 mins so it’s probably much shorter than setting up a tent and then unpacking all the gear you need for cooking etc. Or at least a similar time. If I was only camping for a night I wouldn’t unhook it, I would leave it on the car. But when it’s for a few days or longer, and I want to do rock crawling, I’m 100% taking it off 😊
@paulholyoak

So what if you need your spare tyre or maxtrax when you're out wheeling? Not really practical to jack it off at camp.

Are we allowed to ask how much are u in the hole for this build. What an epic rig. Great build.
@TheLittleRig
@TheLittleRig Жыл бұрын
Hey mate no problem. Including the car itself, over the 4 years I’ve had it, the total build as it sits right now is probably at about $140k. Having said that, a lot of items on my car are sponsored or research and development products, so I’ve come up with the ideas but not necessarily had to pay for them since my car was donated for the development of the product. Sometimes it pays to get in first with ideas. My point is, although the build ‘value’ is about $140k, I personally don’t have that kind of money laying around. Hahahaha
@krump743
@krump743 Жыл бұрын

@@krump743 it’s never great with my cat because of the tyres haha. But with the canopy and roof top tent, I get about 560km from the 80K tank. So it’s not horrific, but it’s not great either haha

Lol what 😂 it’s just setting up camp? I’ll give you an example… go to the Watagans or Fraser Island (I’ll assume you’re from Australia). Remove the canopy and set up camp. Spend the week rock crawling the tracks of the watagans or exploring the sands of Fraser Island. Every night you have camp already set up to come back to. When the week is over, spend 30 mins packing up and drive away. Doesn’t get much simpler and smarter than that.
