Yes it's just a foam piece! I would suggest you go with a custom fit mattress because while it is comfortable, it may be a little harsh on the back, especially if you already have back problems 🙂

It's plywood from another van that was just given to me that I cut to size and on the bed is a piece of memory foam that I also cut to size 🙂
