Thanks for this video! How’s the battery life on both?
@BostonSchulz

Great question! Both cameras I can leave in my bag for "weeks" and not have them dead when I try to use them. I think it all depends on how often you're turning them on & actively taking pictures, but they both have an automatic shut off that helps save the battery and I've never had any issues. I brought the Paper Shoot to a 3 day festival and was using it pretty often all 3 days and it didn't die on me. But hard to truly "test" their battery lives. Hope this kind of helped?

It takes just seconds (in any app or program) to make quick adjustments to a photo to give you the same filter effects that the paper shoot offers. But you can’t add exposure after a photo is taken (add light if you don’t have a flash). If you want to take a photo without enough natural light you either need a camera with a flash, you have to use your phone’s flashlight feature, or skip the photo completely. My vote is for the Camp-snap, for those reasons alone.

Hi Boston! Great video! interesting comparison. Never picked up a PaperShoot, but almost did the Camp Snap. I had bought a lot of digicams, so I am use to just grabbing one of those. Thanks for sharing!

Sadly, my old digital cameras that I had growing up no longer work (or at least, the batteries & the chargers no longer work). I wish I still could reach for those...maybe that's goal for my next video. 😅 What's your go-to digicam?

Since you can't force settings for either of these cameras, I have a hard time recommending them for any night life photography. I find them blurry in concert settings (due to not being able to force a quick shutter speed) and since the CampSnap has a delayed flash vs sound / click, it's really hard to time out a shot of someone posing or doing any activity. I love using them for travels, but I rarely bring them out to concerts unless it's something outdoors / daytime. I'll keep testing cameras like this until I find my perfect favorite - but that's my notes about this for now!!

lol. I'm not gonna disagree with this statement. They're both really difficult in movement settings + low light.

I've found all these cameras (Flashback, Camp Snap and Paper Shoot) don't perform great in night photography including events. Their sensors are simply too small too capture enough light for a good quality photo. Flashback excels at close-up portraits and close-up action shots at night since the flash is an incredibly fast burst. Close-up subjects will be "frozen" against the background with minimal blur. (You can actually get some really cool effects from Flashback where the foreground is crisp because of the flash, and lights in the background blur or create trails).

The latest version of the Camp Snap has an improved sensor, strap eyelets, lcd panel, ability to change the shutter sound volume as well as turn it off, and the ability to set metadata. Looking at the metadata from my images in LR, the camera has a fixed 2.8 aperture, and shutter speeds from what seems to be 1/15 all the way to 1/2000. The ISO range is from 100 to just over 4000.

I love that Camp Snap has listened to it's users and improved the product! Over my usage, I've never gotten an image below f/3.2 (as noted in my video settings), but great to know that they do open up more...wild that I've shot mine at night, indoors, concerts, and it's always been at f/3.2...???

Hi! Are you familiar with Flashback? I'm really curious how they compare to the Camp Snap and the Paper Shoot 😊
@macksalis
@macksalis 3 ай бұрын
Flashback is more of a traditional "film camera" experience: it winds up, only takes 27 pictures at a time and has a traditional bright Xenon flash. It's also a bit more tech-enabled since the photos transfer wireless to a mobile app and there has been some talk about a printing service built in to the app. There are new film types released via the app too. On the other hand, Camp Snap and Paper Shoot both use memory cards which means you can take a lot more photos if that's what you're after. Paper Shoot is the most expensive, while Camp Snap is the cheapest and Flashback is in the middle.

Hi! I looked into Flashback, but honestly, didn't want to jump on purchasing another camera at this moment. I do like the look of Flashback (with their flash, it seems like a more comfortable camera to shoot in numerous scenarios). I'm not sure I like the idea of having an app with the camera...but I do want to test it out. Did you wind up getting one?

I have both and love my papershoot with the classic film filter card, it gives a dreamlike quality. But the user design drives me crazy -- its impossible to keep the camera board lint free and the shutter sound is obnoxious. And the lack of feedback on the shutter button sucks too.
@BostonSchulz
@BostonSchulz 2 ай бұрын
That's so interesting -- I've never had issues with link in the board, and I own a cat that gets hair on literally everything. But I have noticed that most of these cameras have a shutter sound to signal that the picture has been taken, which I do think is annoying and unnecessary. Hopefully both cameras will make improvements on the button press to actual picture capture while removing the sound.

Are you comparing to a 16mp papershoot or the newer 18mp one?
@BostonSchulz
@BostonSchulz 3 ай бұрын
Great question! I bought my Papershoot back in 2021. I'm not seeing anything on their site that they upgraded this camera to a larger mp version, but if they have done that across the board, I would assume this is the 16MP then. papershootcamera.com/products/old-classic-black-paper-camera

@@maluslupo754 This is NOT the USB Type C, it's a micro USB, so mine must be the 16mp. I didn't know that they changed it -- so I'll update the description!! Thanks for pointing this out to me.

you can get the filters with Camp Snap, but you have to download them.
@BostonSchulz
@BostonSchulz 3 ай бұрын
Oh! I hope I didn't edit that out of the video. Yes, you can download filters (I had mine shooting B&W for a while actually) but when you're at an event, there's no way to switch between filters like you can on Paper Shoot. I'm an indecisive photographer, and choosing what filter to have until the next time I download one is too much of a commitment. 😂
