Camp Verde, AZ - Dispersed Camping

Come along as travel to Camp Verde Arizona and visit the Bull Pen and West Clear Creek area! Dispersed camping (free) camping along Forest road 618 and 215 (Bull Pen Road). Great place to camp in Arizona during the Spring or Fall seasons - weather is nearly perfect and then you can hike and swim in a natural swimming hole near the Bull Pen day use area.

From Florida so not familiar with dispersed camping out west but. But anything along road 618 or bull pen road you can camp at? I’m assuming you can use a tent or camp out of your car if want to? Curious about that are and spending few days camping out over there do some trial running/hiking during the days there. Cheers

The 618 is pretty much open for camping from Bull Pen road north. There are several spots just north of there that are great for Tent Car/Van or RV camping. Not much shade in this area - there's some but you'll have to hunt for it. It's a great area except mid summer, or mid winter! It is about 3500-3600 ft in here, so it's in the sweet zone for certain times of year in Arizona. Great hiking in and around this area (Bull pen and Beaver Creek a few miles up north of there!) When it get's hotter - you'll want to go up in Altitude unless you have ice blood, lol! Flagstaff and Willams have many great dispersed areas to camp/hike and whatnot. Be sure to get a Coconino National Forest map first! Have fun!

Slightly cooler, since it’s a little higher in altitude (3200 ft) it averages about 8-10 degrees cooler in the summer than Quartzsite.

How where those wash boards in the beginning ?! It's better/ smother coming in from I17 no legal camping on Bullpen Rd

Not too bad really if you take it slow - at least for us lol! We came in from the 260, which is closer. We camped on Bullpen rd. closer to the 618 though and not down in the valley near the trailhead. (No camping near the trail head just day parking only.)

Thanks for the feedback - I agree, both my Dashcams work great on regular roads but suck the moment you get on dirt roads (no stabilization - the jeep is the worst) that’s why I’ve resorted now to using the GoPro for all my off road videos going forward, much better image stabilization.
