Big B coming in clutch once again About the bow stroke in measures 1-2 and 5-6 -- do you continue the staccato throughout the whole etude even when the notes aren't dotted?

Thanks! For the bow stroke, I would assume so. At least in the edition I played off of, there is no actual indication to do so, typically they would write "simile" or something to indicate to continue the bow stroke, but alas..it would be weird to just stop after two measures, so I assume it's just laziness or an error in the part to leave out that indication. Although, the tempo for the 16th notes (not the triplet sixteenths) will be more brushy rather than bouncy, and I took some liberties and made certain areas longer that I felt required a more grounded stroke. Hope that helps!

I just asked for clarification from TMEA. The last time this was chosen they did say to continue the staccato.

Hello! I wanted to know what the final tempo for both all-state etudes were (I know you posted a video on the other etude for 2021-2022, but I didn't feel like writing another comment on that video). I also wanted to know what final tempo you play when you transition to the triplets at measure 18 on Campagnoli Caprice 15.

Hello! The TMEA website gives these ranges ( www.tmea.org/orchestra/audition-material/etudes/ ) : Mazas - Tempo: Dotted Quarter Note = 39-46 Campagnoli - Tempo: Quarter Note = 66-72 In this recording, my tempo sits around 78, but you should follow the TMEA guidelines if you are auditioning for All-State. The triplets are in the same tempo. Hope that helps!
